This was the day I had been waiting for since May! It was the day of our site visit, but our site visit was not until 1:00 and we had a long day to go prior to that.
I had set a wake-up call for 7 that morning and when the phone went off, I made Chris answer it just to see his expression. He lit up like a little kid when he heard the characters voices. Thats my favorite part about going to Disney with him, seeing his pure joy and happiness with everything. We got up and got moving because we had a 8:10 pick-up to go on a DVC information meeting
After the DVC meeting, we went back to the resort where we jumped in the car. It was time to head to the Magic Kingdom! I was beyond excited to see the castle again. We parked at the Wedding Pavilion and walked over to the Grand Floridian to catch the monorail. Honestly, this was my frist time seeking the construction and I wanted to cry when I first saw it. After seeing it though and looking at it again, I got adjusted very quickly. I still think my guests will be blown away by the beauty of the Wedding Pavilion and heavens knows I still love it.
We finally made it to MK and headed in! The park looked amazing all decorated for fall but that crane! IT disappeared for the rest of our trip but my pictures from that first day have it in it. We rode Buzz Lightyear, went on Pirates and saw Mickeys Philharmagic plus ate a yummy lunch. Then we looked at our watch and realized it was 12:30! Yikes!
We rushed to the monorail and then got on the monorail. Yikes, we were going to be late. We ended up getting to our site visit bout 1:04. I was not happy about being late but we made it!
The first thing we went over was the date since we had two listed. We also talked about new book guidelines for 2013 and minimums. The new guidelines are that we cannot hold our date 16 months out. We hold and book at 12 months.
As well, minumums for food and beverage went up. Bruch [9 and 10 am ceremonies] has a minimum of 100 dollars, Lunch [12 pm ceremonies] has a minimum of 125 dollars and Dinner [2:30 and on later in the day] has a minimum of 150 dollars.
The next thing that we talked about was the guest count [Its up to 70 people at this point]. Our guest count knocked us out of a couple places we were oringinally wanting. We asked Michelle for suggestions and she suggested the Grand Floridian. We also talked about our colors, theme and what we want to see from the wedding.
The biggest thing that we both want from the wedding from the wedding was for our guests to have a good time. Much of our family has never been to Disney in a long time if ever and many do not understand why we constantly want to go to Disney.
After discussing ideas and logistics, we went to visit sites! We visited the following sites.
- Contemporary Ballroom
- Grand Floridian
- Beach Club
Cape cod was ruled out immediately. Chris walked into the room and he literally said Do not fall in love with this room. I am not having a red, white, and blue wedding. I dont want my job throwing up on my wedding.
We went back to Francks and looked at the villas and the construction and projected. Michelle was amazing and was honest with me and Chris about what to expect. After we said goodbye, we looked at things in the building and then headed to the car. We had a lot to talk about but we were going to Hollywood Studios first.
We drove to Studios which is my HOME. After we got in the gate, We headed towards ToT. Disney magic struck right then when we stopped to pin-trade. The two cast members gave us fast passes for tower, rocking and TOY STORY. I was so excited for Toy Story as I had never ridden it.
We rode some rides and got a smoothie. We were going to go ride Toy Story but the ride went 101. So we visited some friends of mine and then the ride reopened. We rode the ride and then it was time to head to dinner.
We were off to eat at Chef Mickeys! The chef here was amazing! He came out and personally walked me through the entire buffet to show me what I could eat. The characters definitely do come around very quickly and dont spend loads of time with you but they did come often enough to offset this.
The chef offered me a gluten-free cupcake which I was skeptical about. I took one bite though and fell in love. It was amazing. A few moments later, we had some pixie dust in the form of an anniversary plate with two cupcakes and a candle on a mickey plate. We ended up taking these cupcakes with us.
It was a wonderful Site Visit and Day at Disney!
