Chris & Megan's Wishes Wedding: Updated 8/2:Photobomb of the last month!

I think tying in the yellow and the ivory would be gorgeous for your aisle petals! I have faith in you with painting your aisle runner-- you can do it and it will look great!!

Love your Halloween costumes!! So cute!

How fun that this was your first "adult" vacation! I still like going with my parents sometimes but it is so nice to just be alone with DFi.

Looks like you two had a great time!! Your towel animals are fantastic!!

I know! We got so many towel animals.

Me too! There is a couple tricks that I can use...I'm gonna use a sheet of material first and show my mom how i do! :) 75 dollars is alot!

Just catching up! You look like you had a great time on your site visit trip! I had Michelle for mine too--- she's pretty great. :)

And your costumes are adorable!!!!

Faith is right, by the way--- your 600 days will fly by. Although, I must say, these last 57 days seem to be dragging....

I know! This week has flown by. :lmao:

I have been thinking about floral and decorations a lot lately. As I posted on the main board, we do not have a real “theme” for the wedding. We were going with simple floral, our two-three colors and just trying to reign everything together.

I found a new floral bouquet that I love. Yellow roses have a bit of history with me. For every single holiday or occasion growing up, I was given yellow roses. For each birthday after my 13th birthday, I received that number of yellow roses in a special vases that I had picked out one Saturday. My graduation party had a centerpiece of yellow roses in a green vase [my school colors were green and gold]. I received yellow roses for valentine’s day during my freshman and sophomore years at college from my mom and aunt.

Last October, Chris surprised me with a vase of flowers from the base florist shop [I still don’t want to know how much he paid for those]. He didn’t know at that point what my favorite flowers were but guess what he brought me? He brought me yellow roses!

So when I started planning, I knew yellow roses were going to play a HUGE part in my wedding. I knew my bouquet would be yellow roses. I liked the french-tied round bouquets but I wasn’t 300% convinced that they were perfect for me. So I kept searching for a better image that I loved and last week….. I hit jackpot gold.

I found this bouquet:
Image475x4755.jpg

It’s yellow roses with variegated ivy and wrapped with stems exposed at the end. I love the whole set-up so I’ve decided that THIS is the bouquet that I want.

The wrapping on the my bouquet will actually be provided by me to be wrapped. I want it to be wrapped in a silver satin ribbon with tulle underneath. My mom, grandmother, and great-aunt all wore the same viel that had hand-beaded detail all across the bottom as well as across the headpiece. Sadly, over the years…. The veil has turned yellow with age and the beading has fallen apart. It’s too detailed to try and put the beadwork back together so I will be taking a piece of the tulle under the ribbon and having it wrapped first with the tulle and then the silver ribbon. After I get my bouquet from the florist, I will also be using super glue to add three circles to the stems to form a mickey.

I am also thinking that the girls bouquet will be the same style. However, I am wondering two questions
  • Would it look better if the girls bouquets were ivory and yellow roses mixed together in the same style as mine or solid ivory?
  • Right now, I’m considering a sash for each girl to be added to their silver dresses. Would it look weird to have their wrap on their flowers to match their sash?]

I’ve also re-thought dessert party decorations. This will be the first thing cut if I need to cut money down. I would like the gel cylinders with silver mickey confetti and the gel in yellow and blue. I plan on the black chairs with the black tablecloths. Honestly not wasting a whole lot of money on the dessert party as our guests are going to be blown away with the fireworks, not the decorations!

Reception-wise….I has no idea. We’re still trying to figure out where to go with those. I’ll let you know if I start to think of anything.

:goodvibes Any advice or thoughts?

I love the meaning behind carrying yellow roses!! How sweet that Chris surprised you with yellow roses not even knowing they were your favorite.. now that's destiny!!

That bouquet is GORGEOUS. I think the silver will look perfect with it and how exciting is it that you're using your family veil's tulle!

Personally, I'd have the girls carry solid ivory roses. For some reason I just prefer that "look". I think having a silver sash and the silver on the flowers would look fine and would be a good way to tie in the silver.

It makes sense to cut down the DP decorations if you need to free up a little room in the budget. You're right-- no one will care about the decorations when they've got yummy dessert AND the fireworks!!

Keep us updated on the reception ideas!

I love that bouquet! I think it will look wonderful. I think it will look good whether you choose to have the girls with just ivory or with ivory and yellow. I can't remember if you mentioned yet, but what color are their dresses?

Yup! Dessert always wins out! :lmao:

I havn't mentioned yet! :) I'm gonna post about that in a few minutes because I'm having a dilema :lmao:

:lmao: Their dresses are silver with possibly a different color sash!

Here is my favorites for the bridal party!

My MOH would be in the one with the yellow sash and the other girls in the blue sash.

And then if everyone goes with silver dresses, these are my choices for each girl:

Any Advice? :goodvibes

If I was asked to be in a wedding, I'd prefer to be buying the second and third ones in the color/silver selection because I feel they're more my style but that's a personal thing. Of the silver only, I like the one on the left. If any of your girls are particularly chesty, the silver on the far right might not be the most figure friendly for them. I've worn dresses like that and felt like I was drowning in my ****s, I need some neckline between chin and chest to feel like things are working for me, lol.

On the first chart my favorite is the third one down - I think that's because I like having a splash of color in two places, around the waist and on the bottom! The three all silver ones on the bottom are all beautiful, I really like them! Are you planning to have everyone wear the same dress or give them options?

I like the pop of color! As for the dresses, I like the first and the third ones!

As for the flowers, I like the idea of color in them too, so both the yellow and ivory! And I like the idea of having the wrap around the stem of the flowers match the sash on their dress (my girls had a silver sash and that was what was wrapped around their flowers).

Thanks! Each dress of the solid color was picked with a specific girl in mind! :)

I agree with the personal thing which is why I want loads of opinions. I don't want them to hate me for this dress!

I like the 3rd dress with the colors

Thanks! :goodvibes

At this point, I am thinking everyone wearing different dresses with the condition that they be charcoal and from alfread Angelo as well as knee-ish length [or right above]. If I see that the dress with the color looks good on all three girls, I'll do that! If I do the color I think I want them in the same dress? I'm really not sure! Becky! HELP. I have an even bigger question to deal with too. I'll message you! :lmao:

I'm with the majority here!! I think the 3rd one down looks sweet and sassy!! :goodvibes

Thanks! :) :goodvibes

I think that would help tie the colors together!

-----

Right now, I'm really leaning towards the solid silver dresses with with silver ribbon on their flowers just because I literally have NO clue if Chris or the rest of the guys will be wearing uniforms and I'm worried about the sash/color looking silly against uniforms when they are together.

:lmao: My opinion changes daily on this!

I totally agree, though not really sure why! But I think if do it with the color it would be good for them to be in the same dress - maybe because if they picked different ones it might look a bit all over the place. The solid color dresses that you pictured I think all look really good together even though they aren't the same dress, so that would definitely work too :thumbsup2 And feel free to message away! Hopefully I can help! :goodvibes

The Bridal Party:

I just realized that I have never introduced our bridal party [well, the ones I know anyway!]. I finally decided just a week or so ago who I actually wanted to include. I personally thought about who had been there for me for my entire life. I kept fighting with the idea that it had to all be girls….So it’s not going to be. :lmao: I’ve included a picture with each girl/guy of the two of us over the years!
--------
The girls:

My maid-of-honor: Jessie
Jessie and I have been best friends since fall 2005 [my sophomore year and her freshman year in high school]. We each graduated from our high school in ’08 and ’09, respectively and she started college at Salisbury University near our home. She and I can go weeks without talking and pick up as if we stopped a conversation 5 minutes ago. She’s dating another “Chris” and we find this hysterical.

Bridesmaid: Danni
Danni and I graduated together in 2008. We were the person that the other went to in high school to deal with the other crazy girls in our grade. She’s amazing and sweet. She just transferred to a school in NC [Barton] and is studying Criminal Justice. I got to see her in October when we stopped by her college on the way back from Disney and I miss her so much!

Bridesmaid: Kristina
Kristina is my cousin! She’s roughly 4 months older than me and is a hoot! She’s extremely talented with art and is studying fashion business with the interest of starting her own store [I think]. We’re both addicted to Harry Potter and LOVE spending time together. We are pretty much permanently banished to the “kids” table at Thanksgiving. She lives in Virginia!

Brides-man: Andrew
Andrew and I have been friends since kindergarten. Our moms have been friends for, well…forever. We both were rising students in Ruritan growing up and we love bbq chicken (the ruritan kind). He and I sat at the same table for chemistry in high school, ran track together, were in drama and choir together and graduated together. I can’t believe that we’re as old as we are.

The boys:
These are the people I don’t know too terribly well just because I haven’t been around them!

The best man is Chris’s twin: Cody. The other two groomsmen are Chris’s other two brothers: Scotty and Ryan. I still haven’t met Ryan; he just got back from a 2-3 year term in Japan. We also are including Tommy, Chris’s best friend from home.

:rotfl2: :yay:I may or may not have stolen these photos off facebook for everyone to see. Tommy doesn't have a facebook :)

Love your bridal party, sounds like good choices! Also, I just want to tell you that in the pic with your friend Andrew, you look absolutely stunning in that dress!

Dress Shopping is the Devil. Literally, I officially hate dress shopping. I’ve posted in the Facebook group about my troubles. I’ve been dress-shopping at about 5 different places and I’ve probably tried on 30+ dresses.

Here are more no’s…..

I know one of these days I will find the dress I love. Chris has not wanted to see my dress but I’ve convinced him to come dress shopping with me. I’d rather have him with me to give me his honest opinion and for him to love how I look. My feeling is that we are a team. He’s not going to remember what it looks like since the wedding is still… 585 days away. It will look completely different with my hair and makeup done, a veil and tiara, my shoes…you get the drift! =]

You posted while I was posting! sneaky sneaky!! :)

That was my senior prom dress. I may or may not have loved that dress and picked it because it came with a purse :lmao:

What is it about them that makes them "no's"? Just don't get the feeling with em? Theres one of your nos that I think looks fantastic on you, but that's just my humble opinion.

Take a break from the shopping for a few weeks, maybe just need to reset your dress-eyes. I'm sure at this point they're all starting to look the same!

Thanks as always for the fantastic updates!

I love love love the gray dresses with the bow sashes (first row)! So pretty!

Your bridal party will all look gorgeous together! Pretty people!

Girl, you will find the perfect dress! I love the long dress on the possbilities list- it looks awesome on you!

I too want to know why they are "no's?" Just not feeling them? Don't like the style?
