I have been thinking about floral and decorations a lot lately. As I posted on the main board, we do not have a real “theme” for the wedding. We were going with simple floral, our two-three colors and just trying to reign everything together.
I found a new floral bouquet that I love. Yellow roses have a bit of history with me. For every single holiday or occasion growing up, I was given yellow roses. For each birthday after my 13th birthday, I received that number of yellow roses in a special vases that I had picked out one Saturday. My graduation party had a centerpiece of yellow roses in a green vase [my school colors were green and gold]. I received yellow roses for valentine’s day during my freshman and sophomore years at college from my mom and aunt.
Last October, Chris surprised me with a vase of flowers from the base florist shop [I still don’t want to know how much he paid for those]. He didn’t know at that point what my favorite flowers were but guess what he brought me? He brought me yellow roses!
So when I started planning, I knew yellow roses were going to play a HUGE part in my wedding. I knew my bouquet would be yellow roses. I liked the french-tied round bouquets but I wasn’t 300% convinced that they were perfect for me. So I kept searching for a better image that I loved and last week….. I hit jackpot gold.
It’s yellow roses with variegated ivy and wrapped with stems exposed at the end. I love the whole set-up so I’ve decided that THIS is the bouquet that I want.
The wrapping on the my bouquet will actually be provided by me to be wrapped. I want it to be wrapped in a silver satin ribbon with tulle underneath. My mom, grandmother, and great-aunt all wore the same viel that had hand-beaded detail all across the bottom as well as across the headpiece. Sadly, over the years…. The veil has turned yellow with age and the beading has fallen apart. It’s too detailed to try and put the beadwork back together so I will be taking a piece of the tulle under the ribbon and having it wrapped first with the tulle and then the silver ribbon. After I get my bouquet from the florist, I will also be using super glue to add three circles to the stems to form a mickey.
I am also thinking that the girls bouquet will be the same style. However, I am wondering two questions
- Would it look better if the girls bouquets were ivory and yellow roses mixed together in the same style as mine or solid ivory?
- Right now, I’m considering a sash for each girl to be added to their silver dresses. Would it look weird to have their wrap on their flowers to match their sash?]
I’ve also re-thought dessert party decorations. This will be the first thing cut if I need to cut money down. I would like the gel cylinders with silver mickey confetti and the gel in yellow and blue. I plan on the black chairs with the black tablecloths. Honestly not wasting a whole lot of money on the dessert party as our guests are going to be blown away with the fireworks, not the decorations!
Reception-wise….I has no idea. We’re still trying to figure out where to go with those. I’ll let you know if I start to think of anything.

Any advice or thoughts?
