Chris & Megan's Wishes Wedding: Updated 8/2:Photobomb of the last month!

I love your plans so far! The STDs are so cute with the fast passes, and the invitations are great. I really like the little mickey head on them made out of pearls.

The pricing on the flowers from Jonathan's looks really reasonable. That's pretty much on par with what we paid for flowers up here in NY.

The groom's cake idea is great. My brother would love it, he's a huge Rangers fan! Good luck on the cake toppers, hopefully with enough searching you will find something on the internet that will fit your needs.

Can't wait to hear about your trip and site visit! Sorry about your keys getting locked in the car :( But I hope Disney was wonderful! :goodvibes

So sorry to hear about the key incident!!!

Glad all else is going well! Can't wait to hear the full report!

Love your PJ so far...I was just curious though, and as a Retired Military Spouse and a Shades of Green bride, have you ever thought of getting married at Shades of Green at WDW? Their Gazebo is lovely, and you can have your Disney wedding, for literally THOUSANDS of dollars less than doing the DFTW!! Anyway, just some food for thought!! Also, don't forget, when you get estimates for your flowers, and anything you pay for OOP, to ask if they give military discounts....you'd be amazed how many do!!

We left Delaware on Wednesday, September 28th around 17:00 [or 5 pm]. We drove straight through the night and it was mostly uneventful with the exception of the whole locking the keys in the car situation in Darien, Georgia at 3:30 in the morning. We finally got to Orlando at 8:30 in the morning and we checked into our resort. I imediadiatly asked about the “Just Married” buttons in an attempt to find us a pair for when we got married but no success at Caribbean Beach Resort.

Our room was ready so we headed off to Aruba and got our first peek at our room! We had gotten a King Room when we upgraded as a result of the dining plan mishap and were excited to see where we were going to be spending our time. We got an adorable “nemo” room in an awesome location. We were about a 5 minute walk to Old Port Royale and about a 5-10 minute walk to either bus stop, via either Jamaica or Aruba’s. We got our first towel animal today! He was sitting over by the bed on our nightstand.

We unpacked for a little bit and got everything situated and then it was off to get some lunch [well, we found out it was going to be breakfast once we got to Old Port Royale]. We got breakfast and did a little Disney shopping! I got an awesome set of ears that look like Donald Duck and bought Chris a “Happy Birthday” pin. We are slight pin-addicts.

One of the biggest things that Chris wanted to do at our resort was go canoeing. Yuck. I have nightmares about flipping into the water. But we went canoeing around the little lakes at CBR and had a blast. I got a bit sunburned on my shoulders. After about 30 minutes, we headed inside and literally collapsed on the bed for 2 hours. When we woke up again, it was about 2:00 and we needed to go buy our Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for hopefully the next night. Well, that was a fail as they were competly sold out already. So, after an execuative decision between Chris and me, we decided to go on Sunday instead.

Dinner that night was at Wolfgang Puck’s Café in Downtown Disney and we wandered around Dtd doing some pin trading and browsing. We headed back to the resort after dinner where we pretty much were lazy for the rest of the night. We went and hung out in a hammock for a while, then decided we were hungry and headed to Old Port Royale for a late snack. Notice a trend? We eat a lot.

We headed back to the room for some sleep before we got up to head to the Vacation Club Open House we had gotten interested in that day that would be held the next morning prior to our busy day!

Love the pics, and very cool about the room upgrade! Caribbean Beach is a nice resort from what I remember (I think I was about 9 years old the last time I stayed there!).

Great pictures!! I love the Nemo rooms! So cute!

And, I feel you about canoeing.. I'm scared of it too! Glad you are alive and had fun though!

Can't wait to read more!

Great start to your TR! I'm happy to hear good things about Caribbean Beach, my DF and I are thinking about staying there on our next trip. I also feel the same way about canoeing, so scared the boat will flip over and I'll get stuck under it or something, I don't know. Heh.

Looking forward to reading more!

Hello all! I’m sorry for the delay in posts but life has taken over for a few days and I’m only just digging myself out now! I promise I will finish the TR and post about the site visit hopefully this week. It was an awesome trip and site visit, I’ve got to figure out how to share that!

Tonight, I’ll talk about some non-wedding things and then wrap up by talking about some wedding stuff. Not much exciting has going on with wedding-planning but I’ll share what has been going on!

Non-Wedding:
  • My college lost their NCATE Certification in the fall of 2010. I wasn’t worried about it at the time since I planned on returning to the farm to teach at the time. The farm is about 2 hours south of my college and not having NCATE Certification wouldn’t be the end of the world. I got back from my college program in the spring and realized that being married to a member of the military changed that thought process. I now needed that certification so that if we got moved someplace, it would be slightly easier to try and find a teaching job.

I have literally spent the last two weeks freaking out about what to do with college. I was trying to decide if I should stay at my college and pray that they get NCATE back by the time I graduate or transfer to another school that has NCATE already. Since Wesley will get a tentative answer on if they will receive NCATE back in November, I’ve decided to stay at Wesley. There were a lot of pros and cons that went into that choice so we’ll see if it’s the right one in a few months.
  • DF and I both play Ice Hockey and on average spend about 4 nights at the Delaware State Fair’s Ice Rink. I honestly love the sport and couldn’t be happier that Chris and I share a HUGE love for this sport. I’m on the Women’s Team at the rink and Chris plays as an emergency goalie for two leauges plus skates on two teams. Chris is also my assistant coach for my team! Sometimes with Chris’s schedule, he gets to go play ice hockey on his lunch break. This happened last Monday and it is always a funny time!

  • DF and I are headed to New York tomorrow! We are going to hang out with his family and a few of his friends. PLUS we are going to an New York Islanders game courtesy of an Islanders player! Chris received the tickets from being an active-duty military member. I think we might be meeting a player? I have no clue, all I know is that Chris has to wear his uniform and I’m struggling on what to wear!
  • I finished English 101 with a “B”! That’s major celebration to me. This was my second English 101 as my college credits did not transfer into Wesley from my previous school. I’m now in my LAST English class for my undergrad degree!

Wedding News:
  • I’ve majorly second-guessed my dress choice. I was VERY positive that I wanted the Cinderella Dress from AA but then I saw other photos of it and saw other dresses in general and wasn’t positive any more. I went dress “looking” with my mom yesterday and now I know for certain that I do not want that dress. It just does not do my body justice.

  • I started working with another DISBOARDS member for our invitations and have fallen in love with them. Once we make a few changes on them [like my last name being spelled correctly, lol], I’ll share them with you girls [and guys]. I honestly LOVE them and seeing the design/colors convinced my mom that I should just get them printed somewhere, thank god.
  • We took a good, hard look at the budget for the number of people we are actively inviting and had to make a yucky decision about whether we could manage this type of event with the DFTW prices. Basically, we decided to save as much as we can until early June 2012 and then see what we have saved. From there, we will make the choice to either push the wedding back if we don’t have enough money saved or go ahead if we are good to go with money!
  • We did OFFICIALLY decide on a date. I can’t remember if I posted that we had or not. As much as 2012 would have been nice, we pushed it to 2013. Our two main reasons were deployment and my graduation. My graduation got pushed back to Dec. 2013 and I want to be closer to graduation before I get married. Deployment-wise, while Chris is not going (as of now) with his squadron; his roommate is and would not have enough time to ensure that he would be able to make the wedding. As well, there were deployment concerns for about 5 other guests that influenced the move to 2013.

Well, now that I’ve written a novel…..It’s time to pack for NY and maybe dinner? Chris’s roommates just came in and invited me out to dinner with them. Chris is on night shift [7pm to 7am] so tonight I was just hanging out at his house!

CBR was lovely!

:) I promise more is coming!

Thanks! We did look into Shades of Green but the Wedding Pavilion is a HUGE reason why we chose DFTW.

Welcome Chris!! Can't wait to hear about the trip!

I told him you said hi....since something went wrong and he can't log in! :lmao:

It was awesome. I loved the resort!

Have fun in NY!! Also, sorry that your school is causing your stress, I know the feeling. Fingers crossed that your school will get its accreditation back and everything will work out. So if people were in the middle of that program when they lost accreditation, were they basically just screwed? It sounds so awful.

I think you look pretty good in some of your "no" choices for dresses, so once you find the one that you fall in love with I know that you are going to look amazing! Luckily you have time to search, and you don't want to buy too early either :goodvibes

If they have graduated since then [December 2010 and May 2011], then they graduated without the NCATE Certification. If Wesley gets the certification back, then they will also receive the certification as it's retroactive.

Yes, they all looked good but I wasn't in love! Thanks for the postive thoughts! :)

Boo! I managed to delete my signature somewhere along the line, broke the link I guess.....

Hopefully I get a chance to fix it tonight!

and now it's back? I'm so confused about this....but whatever! :)

Chris and I have been together for 1 year and 1 month today! :) I can't believe how fast time has flown!:lmao:

Last year at this point, I hadn't even told him I loved him yet! Heck, I hadn't even given the boy a kiss! The other day he told me "I knew you were the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with before we even offically started dating".

Awww :goodvibes

Leaving you with a picture of us......
