Chris Matthews remark????

Indian is not a race.

Sure it is, but here's alittle help for you to understand:

Entry: 3race
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French, generation, from Old Italian razza
Date: 1580
1: a breeding stock of animals
2 a: a family, tribe, people, or nation belonging to the same stock b: a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics
3 a: an actually or potentially interbreeding group within a species ; also : a taxonomic category (as a subspecies) representing such a group b: breed c: a category of humankind that shares certain distinctive physical traits
4obsolete : inherited temperament or disposition
5: distinctive flavor, taste, or strength

It's an ethnic group like Irish Americans, but not a race. The comment was in bad taste but its not racist.

Calling it bad taste makes it easier to swallow doesn't it? If you admit it's racisit, you would have to condemn Matthews, and you aren't about to do that, because he is too valuable to the left.

Chris Mathews is a jerk, I don't like him. But Indian-American is not a race.

I guess with that logic, you believe that any deragotory comments against Africans, African Americans, Gays, Chinese, Chinese-Americans, etc wouldn't be considered either?

Huh, It took less than a page before the comment was brushed off as some poor choice of words. Telling isn't it?

Comments about gays would not be racist. Comments about Asians or Africans woudl be racist because those are considered races. :teacher:

I only heard a small clip, but wasn't the "outsource" comment meant to say they outsource to a governor as opposed to someone who currently is in the national arena and can speak first hand to the points in a speech regarding national politics?

They had to outsource the response tonight, the Republican party. They had to outsource to someone who had nothing to do with Congress because the Republicans in Congress had nothing to do with the programs he was talking about tonight or the record he referred to.

Now, I don't like Matthews, he grates on my every nerve...but given the context of the statement, it is at least questionable his intent.

If he did intend it in a bigoted manner....he is a slimy piece of crap.

What''s telling is how quick you were to use the race card.

The comments were out of line.

I thought we were sick of being PC and "playing the race card".

So Matthew’s comment is racist, but the cartoon in the NY Post wasn’t.:confused3:confused3

Exactly.

Maybe, some would prefer the following:

:bigot
a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

**edited**You beat me to it Magic Mom :thumbsup2

I am curious if anyone will respond to the actual statement.

Matthews is a smart man I'm sure he chose his words very carefully. He knew the implication of his words. Not to mention, Jindal has experience at the national level. He can speak first hand to a speech regarding national politics.

I'm sorry I didn't respond quickly enough...DD was hounding me for a sleepover, and I was sorting the details with her.:goodvibes :lmao:

Well now that I see the whole comment I'm not sure it was bigoted or in poor taste, but he should have used a better word like the NYPost should have known better with that monkey cartoon whether it was meant to be Obama or not.
