Chlorella Supplements

Anyone use it?? DH went through chemo and radiation tx's last year. While at the dentist yesterday she insisted that he start using this as it is supposed to detoxify the body following treatments like he had. Just wondering if there is anything to it, or just another "miracle" product.

Would love to hear from anyone that has used it.

I would ask the Oncologist before taking anything. In my experience, the Dr's who treat you for stuff know all about all the homeopathic stuff & OTC dietary supplements and general therapeutics out there, what helps, what is a waste of money and what is dangerous. Considering the fact his body my be weakened (liver, kidneys ect) I wouldn't do anything like that without a nod from the Oncologist, but that's just me.

Yes, I take it. I have never had any adverse affects. It helped me a lot during my last pregnancy to stay healthy and regular.

Here's what the American Cancer Society has to say about it:

Chlorella is said to prevent cancer through its ability to cleanse the body of toxins and heavy metals. Some Web sites describe it as the perfect food, saying that it regulates blood sugar, kills cancer cells, strengthens the immune system, and even "reverses the aging cycle." Available scientific evidence does not support these claims. Because of this, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the proprietors of at least one Web site to stop making unproven statements about chlorella's benefits.

Thanks for the replies....DH is having a PET Scan in Feb and we will talk to the Docs at that time.
