I was wondering if children can sign up to be in the parade when they arrive at the park.
I know that when we go to Sesame Place every summer, they give a few spots on select floast to kids who sign up at guest services. Is this the same in WDW?
Thanks!

I am going to bump this for you. I don't know if they put kids in the parades at WDW, but they do have a parade with guests as participants at DLR. We did it in 2001, and it is the best Disney memory we have!!! It was soooo much fun, and we got a comemorative pin afterwards! Do it if you get a chance!:sunny:

Our kids have been in parades twice. Two different MK daytime parades. We get our seats early. Then someone comes through and gave them special stickers to wear. When the parade stopped, the float CMs closest to us, came over and got the kids and led them through a dance routine. Then they sat and the parade started up again. Last time was Jan 02.

I don't know if it has changed, but that is how ours got in it.

One year my sons were both invited to be in the parade in MK but both were too shy at that time and they would not do it. We had been sitting on a curb when the CM came up and asked them. :wave2:

Last Sept during the 3pm parade at MK there is a part where different characters get kids from the side to come and dance. Baloo came and got my daughter also before that in the parade there is a painter on a bicycle he came by and gave my daughter the picture. So there are other ways to get noticed during the parade. But I believe they pickkids in the morning.

at the 3o'clock "snow globe" parade in the MK ... the parade usually stops and the nearby children are invited to dance or play a game ... my dd has done this several times ... usually the CMs sorta wave the children over or will take them by the hand ... last time the capt hook's pirates came and got my dd because she was wearing her tinkerbell costume ... other times she has played simon says or some other quick game ... anyway the kids dont actually "march" in the parade just sorta dance where the parade is stopped ... kids are sent back to their parents before the parade moves on

Yep, same thing happened to my dd. One of the artist CMs held a picture out to my dd but another child scooted right in front of her and grabbed it and ran off!!! That picture was about 3" away from my dd's hand. Poor kid. We told her that obviously the other child needed it more since she was so nasty. And this child's mother was right beside her. When my dh turned to say something to the mother, she just shrugged her shoulders and said..."you gotta be quick here"!!!! We were just in shock. Maybe dd will get to join in a parade this trip. What fun that would be!!

You cannot "sign up" to be in the parade. Parade participants are chosen from the crowds lining the parade route, at random.

There currently is not any participation in the MK parades. The parade floats use to stop and children where invited out into the street to dance and play with the characters. However since the accident (in which a CM was killed) the MK parade no longer makes the "parade stops" it is just runs straight through thus eliminating the opportunity.

This is bad news, my kids love going out into the parade! We have had some of the best character interaction/magic and they will be sad if this is true. When did the parade stop letting children participate?

A few months ago when there was a tragic accident backstage. The parade was then modified to remove the float that was involved. They have a float from one of the other parades in it's place that does not work well with the parade stops for numerous reasons. So no parade stops. The parade has run straight through ever since, no stops...
