Did WDW ever get it set up where the credits aren't pooled, but seperated into child and adult pools?

The TS credits are now segregated within the POS system. Also, the rules were clarified to make it clear that it is never permitted to use child meal entitlements for adult meals.

I just got back last night and I can confirm the table service entitlements are spilt into adult and child but the counter service is not.

It is clear now ... and at all counter services, we were told by the person helping us that we had 3 adult and 2 children's plans ... they already knew. So there was no way to do anything different. And, our two children got real tired of the same things to eat each day ... if I had to ask them one more time if they wanted applesauce and grapes with their meal, they would have cried !! The jello offered for most of the desserts wasn't good either. My husband and I gave up our desserts to our kids each time, since our oldest was getting adult choices (she's 11). We thought the choices were very limited for kids on the dining plan, and most likely next time will no do the dining plan. I could have gotten better meals/choices for my child by splitting an adult meal at lunch for sure... and sometimes for dinner(table service). Regardless, we always have a good time. It's just a shame that food is such an issue:-)

When we went in September our card was clearly marked as to what we had. I was also in line with a family who attempted to buy regular meals with their child credits (it was all they had left on their card - I guess they had been buying adult meals for the kids). They ordered the food, handed her the card, she ran it into the machine and then told him "you only have child credits left and you can't use them for the adult meals".....he paid out of pocket.

We were there last Sept. and our credis were pooled. While it was clearly marked on our card, there was no way for CS restaurants to "see" how many adult vs. child meals we had ordered by the end of our trip. In fact I was a little clueless and blithely ordered adult meals for my 8 yr old without really thinking about whether or not it was ethical. It wasn't until we went to Flame Tree that a CM looked at our card and said one of our meals had to be a child's meal. I was stunned and I'll be honest at the risk of flames - we were able (at her suggestion) to split our order and order him an adult meal. The only issue for her was that the credits not be used on the same order. (I am only being honest about our lack of morals to clairy the situation - for those of you who want to flame me, yes I agree it was wrong OK? :) ) We also ran into this issue at Pinnochio Haus at the end of our trip, and I think we ordered my DS a child meal there. Anyway, right or wrong, the issue for a few CM's at that point was that we order 3 adult and 1 child meal because that was what our card indicated. It sounds like this is still the case, although I suspect because of bad guys like me :guilty: , Disney will soon close this loophole.

skater...before anyone has the chance to flame you...just wanted to say I appreciate your honesty now, and that you are letting people know that children's credits should not be used for adult meals, FWIW. ::yes:: I hope Disney does close the CS loophole soon, just like the TS loophole -- it will make things a lot better if the temptation simply doesn't exist.

allaboard, if you do a lot of buffets and character meals, the DDP is worth it just for those, even if the CS choices are not the greatest. Or if you are a bit more adventurous, you might try CS in some other places -- Epcot has some interesting and different choices for kids, and so do WPE and EOS in DTD. Or maybe by the time you go back, Disney will have revamped the kids' meals and the options will be a little more appealing :)

We plan to split most if not all of our CS meals with DD. If we throw away her CS credits at the end of the week it's not really a big deal. I don't think we have one single TS meal planned that will be less than $10.99 after tax and tip for her, so even the snack is a bonus. The CS credit is an added bonus. The way I see it, even if we order her a CS meal just for some grapes and a drink we've gotten our money's worth. If we don't use her CS meals at all we've still gotten our money's worth.

It's so much easier to see the DDP as a good value for a young child who 'throws away' all their CS credits than it is for a 10 year old who pays adult prices but eats like a child. ;)

ITA! The TS alone is worth the price of the plan, the added snack makes it a bargain :) I've looked and looked and can't find the post, but one parent had the best idea I've seen -- they said for lunch they will just put all the adult and child CS meals for their group in the middle of the table and start eating  I think that is an absolutely brilliant idea :thumbsup2

Don't waste them. Order a child's CS breakfast at your resort and share it with her. Then share your CS lunch with her and everyone will be happy.

You know, we're not big breakfast eaters at all, so that is really a great idea. My mom doesn't eat breakfast at all, just coffee, I'm usually happy with a piece of fruit or toast, DD would be fine with an egg or a pancake. I'll bet we could get a kids combo breakfast and all three eat from it, LOL. Thanks for the idea!
