Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

I just read about Bartman receiving a ring. I don't know if it's true but if so it's a nice gesture. Bless that poor guy for what he's had to live with over a ball game.

And those duck cookies are to cute. I wonder if they'll be available later this week when I'm up there! :yay:

Very cool. I remember when that happened, I was angry, but not wanting to do bodily harm angry. Too bad the desire for a Cubbie's win overruled the common decency for your fellow man concept.

Yes. Excellent gesture on the Cubs part. Glad to hear Bartman accepted and both the team and he want to put it behind them. :thumbsup2

I was across the street in Bernie's. It was literally a moment of disbelief, then like watching a train wreck. You wanted to walk away but couldn't. I remember as the game went on the angrier people got . My anger was directed at Dusty Baker, honestly. Alou wasn't getting that ball anyway~the incident did solidify my superstitious side tho. Seat 113...what are the odds? When W'vilel was insane over last seasons playoff and every bar was charging a king's ransom to book a table, we had thought ahead and booked a place a week out for the Dodger game Saturday night (NLCS game 6) We had popped in there the week before and they were just opening, most had no idea they were up and running yet so we didn't have to pay a cover/ransom etc. Just booked a table. when we got there the table was numbered 113. Not gonna lie, I looked at my brother and was like, ummmmmm...and we asked to be moved to 114. Y'all know the result, 5-0 shut-out Hendricks over Kerhsaw. I understand Ricketts had reached out multiple times to Bartman, including to be a presenter at the ring ceremony. As Dan said, glad that he accepted the gesture and all parties can hopefully move on.

My neighbor asked me if I was *disappointed* with Theo not going after another SP, lol. I'm pretty sure he is protecting all resources for when Shohei Ohtani is eligible to come to the USA in a few years or so. I think he's Theo's brass ring.
As for the here and now, tonight's righty -heavy lineup against the D-Backs (except Rizzo, glad to see him back)
Caratini and Grimm(swapping out one Justin for another) have been optioned down to make room for Avila and Wilson. Wilson tweeted he is thrilled to be with the Cubs and is pretty sure he can do a dance in the bullpen :dancer:
Welcome Justin and Alex~excited you are CUB!
Justin Wilson will wear No. 37, Alex Avila No. 13

Lester on the mound, rotation was adjusted so he can attend his Uncle's services tomorrow

OW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14-3 since the break!

Lester,,,you rock!!!!!!!!!!!Congrat's on your first homer and 2000 K's!!!!!!!!!!! 5 homer's and AAJ getting it all started!D-Backs sure can foul the ball off tho. Rizzo's back looks like it's alllllllllllll better, lol. I hope the conga line rolls on and on. Brewers squeak out a win so man that stinks to have a game like this and not gain any but most runs scored at Wrigley since 2009!
Welcome to bullpen dancing Justin Wilson, lol
Great way to start the series~ and heard Scherzer is hurt? Took himself out?

WoW is right! What a game!!!

The hits just kept coming!

Here's to keeping the momentum going and not having one of "those" games tonight.

Let's go, Cubbies!

After a 12 pitch lead off...might almost be less risky to walk the guy lol and pray for a dp, lol. Looking ahead it sounds like Scherzer is just fine, so we will face him in a few days. Pat was off last night, I just keep thinking how he would have loved calling Lester's first homer. OTOH, hopefully he was watching and was able to simply enjoy seeing it happen.

Welcome back Robin!:wave2: Assuming you will be there tonight?:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:::yes::::yes::::yes::
Thanks :). Nope, I was supposed to be there last night but we were too tired after going to my DD's college orientation so I sold my tix at the last minute. I also sold my tickets to a friend a long time ago so I'm at home tonight. I have tix for Saturday.

I found this on Instagram (I don't think you need to be on Instagram to see it):

  • cubsWelcome to the party, Justin Wilson!
You're going to fit in just fine. #ThatsCub

I think they play better when neither you or I are there, lol. We seem to induce the opposite effect of suffering from a blow out, instead of delivering one. I saw that instagram post last night~what a welcome to the Cub's game for Justin and Alex. I think Kewz might be there Saturday!

I will be there Saturday! Love to meet you, Robin, and say a quick hello but no worries if the timing isn't right.

Quick question for the two of you (guys you are welcome to chime in)...looking at the weather I see Friday has a high of 65* and Saturday a high of 77*. I'm pretty excited about the cooler temps but wondering what I should be packing. Does it tend to feel colder than the temp indicates? Will I need a lightweight sweater/jacket for the evenings or will long sleeves be enough? Thanks!

You will definitely want to pack a light jacket or sweatshirt and wear it to Wrigley. Wrigley can be quite chilly when the rest of the city is just fine. You don't want to be one of those people who needs to buy an $80 sweatshirt in the ballpark.

def a light jacket/hoodie...anything that breaks the wind. I think it feels colder, as in (75 feels like 65 if the wind is blowing) but then again my DH says the surface of the sun isn't hot enough for me lol. For Friday, even a vest if you have it. Easy to pack away or take off .The shaded parts of the park are much cooler and it drops at night most of the time. It can change 20 degrees in an hour here.

Unless it's a Zobie hoodie :rolleyes1

Tonight's lineups~

Last night the Righties, tonight the Lefties get their turn. Godley an ex-Cub, he went to AZ when we got Miggy.
Jake on the mound, and Alex AH-vee-LAH (NOT ha-VEE-lah) Think: JAVY-luh :thumbsup2 making his Cub debut! Willy catching tomorrows day game.

LETS GO CUBS!!!!!!!!!!

Scherzer says he is going to see his chiropractor and will decide after that visit if he is pitching this weekend. Also, Indian's closer Andrew Miller ('memba him?) on the 10 day DL.

From what you said about the temperatures when you had a heat wave there, I think he may be on to something. :rotfl2:
