Hi all-

Slo, Donna, and anyone else going to the Light Festival downtown, have a good time and keep warm!

Geffric- I PM'd you.

Hi to everyone

Good evening all.
One Nutcracker production nearing an end and one more to go.:thumbsup2
Turkey day here is going to be disappointing I am afraid. Neither side wants to do any cooking. DH mom just had knee replacement surgery and my mom doesn't feel up to the whole big dinner thing, so they decided to go out to eat. :sad2: I would have it here, but my BIL is in a wheelchair and could not get in my house since it is a bi-level. I wouldn't mind doing a part of the dinner, but with work and Nutcracker I don't have the time to do a big production.
So, dinner out I guess it will be. No turkey sandwich leftovers at my house.:sad1: That's always the best part.
Hope all of you going downtown tonight enjoy the festivities and stay warm.
Better get my buns a moving. Need to change clothes for the big ballet tonight. DS really doesn't care to go again. He said, "But I already saw it once!":rotfl2: His class at school went on Wednesday. Tonight is the full production so it will be slightly longer, too.
Night all.

Good morning! After watching the parade last night from my warm comfy couch I decided we really have the brave the elements and go down there. I love Michigan ave this time of year.

Tigg I hope you find some way to have a traditional thanksgiving meal. My stepmom since she always had to work started getting the dinners from I think it was Dominicks it wasn't bad and added some of her own things.

Slo I hope you had a good view of the parade. Luckily it wasn't to cold.

Well got to get the laundry going I have a lot to do today. I have to rake the deck since some leaves found their way there too.

Last night was a good time, but it was cold and wet :umbrella:
We didn't have a great spot for the parade, because we didn't leave our driveway until 4:15pm, but the girls were able to see from afar, and we could see the fireworks, so that was good. Katie had a bit of an accident (wet her pants, luckily I had my diaper bag with), so her and I didn't see all the parade, but we did make it back in time for the fireworks.

After the parade and fireworks, we went to Rainforest Cafe, and as normal, I didn't love my food - none of us did :sad2: The atmosphere there is always fun, but I can't stand their menu, and I can't stand their food. If we didn't have the girls, we would never return there, but they love it, so we do:rolleyes:

Today I'm going to church, and then coming home to get ready for Thursday. Kevin is going to finish with the Christmas decorations outside, but we won't turn them on until Friday :thumbsup2

Becky - What is the Raingutter Regatta???

Donna - Did you see Corbin Bleu yesterday? If so, what was he doing there? Stephanie really likes him, and I wish I could have taken her earlier to see him. She got to see him in the parade, but from very afar. I hope you and Mark had a good time yesterday.
*I'm so excited for you about your trip :cool1: You'll have a great time!!

geffric - I hope you were able to get everything done yesterday.

Rose - :wave2:

TTTTTTTigern - I'm sorry to hear about Thanksgiving :guilty: But it'll still be nice when you go out :)

HERSEY - You'll have a nice day for some raking today. It may be cold, but at least it's sunny :sunny:

Bunchkin - Where are you??? I miss you!!!! Please come back

Well, I gotta run and get ready for church
Have a good day today everyone!!

Becky - What is the Raingutter Regatta???

It's a Cub Scout event -- where they sort of build sailboats (it's pretty much preformed & you just paint the boat & glue the parts together. :rotfl2: If you want to get fancy you can go get stickers to add, etc...) and then they are raced in water that are in gutters (i.e. Raingutters). There is a fan that blows the air for the boats to race in. Let's just say our boats are always pretty plain, etc... Although one year DS-10's boat did come in 1st place in his level.

Yesterday DS-7 lost both of his races right off the bat. DS-10 won his first heat but then lost his next 2, so that's done for another year. I have no idea if DS-10 will ever do it again as I don't know if he's going onto Boy Scouts & I don't have a clue if they do this at that level.

Today is our church's Thanksgiving dinner in a couple hours. Luckily, I only signed up to bring rolls & dessert! So, I made cookies last night from the cookie dough I had to buy at gymnastics and we got some of the rolls yesterday & the rest today. I should go early since I'm on the committee that is organizing this, only we found out about 2 weeks ago we were in charge. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It used to be a different group but no one is heading up that group right now & some reorganization took place. It surprised the person that is heading our group that we were in charge too. Should be interesting to see how it pans out. Since I live roughly 30 minutes away from the church, I just signed up to help with tear-down/clean-up instead. So much easier with the kids to just stay at the church & help clean up than it is to try to keep them out of trouble beforehand attempting to set everything up. In the past I tried to bring a warm dish but with the distance we live, it didn't work well -- so I decided that would not be a good idea to try & repeat it. :lmao:

Tomorrow I have the younger kid's parent/teacher conferences -- I'm not really looking forward to those. I don't bother having a conference for my DD because when she was in 6th grade they sent a letter out basically stating if you had no concerns then don't schedule a conference (the teachers would schedule something if they had concerns). We didn't get that letter this year but there would be nothing to talk about so no point in setting one up for her. Every year I could do her conference by heart -- great kid, wish I had 25 just like her, needs to work on spelling, everything else is great. The end. ;) The boy's on the other hand -- well..they both have IEP's and I even went over my allotted time with the older son's conference once, etc... I have a feeling I will be scheduling parent/teacher conferences for them until they are out of High School. My 7 year old not quite as intense as the 10 year old's but still not as short & sweet as DD's always were. Hmmm....I've *never* had a teacher tell me they wished they had 25 like either of son's though. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

After the parade and fireworks, we went to Rainforest Cafe, and as normal, I didn't love my food - none of us did :sad2: The atmosphere there is always fun, but I can't stand their menu, and I can't stand their food. If we didn't have the girls, we would never return there, but they love it, so we do

I always enjoy RFC's Pastalaya. It's nice and spicy. :)

Hiya Gang! Just got back from WDW and thought I would say "Hiya Pals".... It was a great trip. Took about 400 pix!
Like Donna we went downtown yesterday. I thought I'd share some pix. We were all so excited to see Corbin Bleu. We missed his little concert during the day but were thrilled to see him IN the parade!
We had a GREAT time. We were there for the parade only....

My morning started out crabby - I woke up to water and coffee grounds all over my kitchen counter :headache: Sometimes I really hate coffee pots!!

Becky - Thanks for letting me know what the Raingutter Regatta is. I'm sorry that both your boys lost though - I hope they weren't to disappointed :grouphug:

Debbie - Welcome back from WDW :wave2: Those pictures are great, it looks like you had a great spot :thumbsup2 We were very far, so we didn't see anything very well. When it comes to Corbin Bleu - do you think he can get a hat over all that hair :scratchin ?? I really like him - I wish Stephanie could have seen him perform Saturday.

Well, I gotta run and jump in the shower
Have a good day today everyone!!

Only one show this week. It does get better next week!

This week's listings have been posted to
http://www.bartlett -sloan.net/ tv

---
Please Note - All times listed are for the Eastern Time Zone. Adjust
accordingly.

On Tuesday November 20, 2007 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM on the Travel Channel is

John Ratzenberger' s Made in America - Budweiser
Join us as we catch a pop fly at Nocona Sporting Goods in Nocona,
Texas, down a can of red and white at the Anheuser Busch brewery in
St. Louis, Missouri, and then head off to Tomorrowland to see why the
world of Disney is a small world after all. (TVKirby note - The
segment of the show is the last 5 minutes or so. It is really just a
short history of Animatronics. Lots of footage we've seen before
<Wathel Rogers in the Carousel of Progress programming harness, etc.>.
Segments are shown from all the parks and going back 50 years.
Expedition Everest's Yeti is shown, but commentary says it opened in
2005 instead of the correct year of 2006. Lucky the Dinosaur is also
shown. Worth recording for the completist. Interesting, but not
essential viewing.)

Hi, all..

We had a great weekend in the city. :) I always feel so blessed that we are able to do this to start our holiday season. Although it was drizzling most of Saturday, we still managed to walk around the lights festival exhibit areas, get some cheesecake & starbucks coffee samples, stop in the freedom museum and sign a card of support for the troops, and watch the beginning of the ice-carving. We heard a bit of the music on the stage, but left before Corbin B was on. (We did see him perform later on during the parade). We stopped in the Intercontinental Hotel to take some pix of the huge Christmas tree they have there and then went up to the Hancock Building and had the buffet lunch in the Signature room. It is on the 95th floor, and you don't have to pay to go up there if you are having a drink or a meal up there. The lunch was $18 a person, and it was excellent (carving station, salads, soups, sausage and peppers, etc). Since it was cloudy outside, I was surprised, but we actually had some good views of the city from the picture windows. We took some pictures in the lobby area of the building, including by the giant train display that they set up every year. It is worth a trip just to the lobby of the building to see that! After lunch, we walked further up Michigan Avenue and went to the Millenium Knickerbocker hotel, which is very, very festively decorated. They had Dickens Christmas carolers there, and were offering little pastries and hot apple cider since it was the lights festival weekend. They had a huge gingerbread house there, it was fun to just sit & take in the whole atmosphere. We then went across the street to the Drake Hotel, and took some pictures in front of their HUGE gorgeous tree. We headed back to the hotel (we were at the Hilton Garden Inn) to drop off some stuff, and then we headed out to Michigan Avenue with all of our closest & dearest friends (all one million of them!) to wait for the parade. The parade, as always, was great! I love when Mickey Mouse comes by and all the tiny lights on the trees begin to sparkle and the crowd goes
oooohh! After the parade, we squashed with everyone else to see the fireworks show, which was just okay. Then we headed to the Weber Grill for dinner. The restaurant was actually located in the lobby of the hotel, so it was wonderful to finish dinner & take the elevator "home". On Sunday, we walked to State Street to see the windows at Macy's. They have the Nutcracker this year. We also had lunch in the Walnut Room under the big Christmas tree, something we have never done before, and that was a treat! After some shopping and browsing, we headed home on the train...another great start to the holidays!!!:)

Debbie, welcome home! How were the crowds at Disney? How was the weather?

Thanks for sharing your pictures from the Lights festival...you have some really good pix! We recorded the parade on tv and watched it last night when we got home. I was really disappointed with the coverage on channel 7. I expected so much more from the national broadcast (I liked it when it was local to channel 9). It seemed like so many commercials and then they didn't even broadcast the fireworks!

Thanks again for sharing your pictures.:thumbsup2

Becky...good luck with the parent/teacher conferences! You brought back some fun scouting memories for me when you mentioned the Raingutter Regatta...both of my boys were in scouts...do you also do the Pinewood Derby?

Hersey...yep, you do need to go downtown!!! It is so beautiful right now with the sparkling lights on the trees, all of the decorations in the hotels and stores, and honestly, even though it was drizzly off and on, it wasn't all that cold...yet. (I know it will get worse soon!) It's such an easy thing to take the train, especially on the weekend pass, which is just $5 and can be used all weekend long!

Mac..thank you for the tv listing. How are things with your sons?

Geffric...we should actually be *back* from our trip before you go. (I told you guys I put this puppy together fast!) I hope you have a great time!

Slo..I'm sorry you were disappointed in the Rainforest. It's never really been one of my fav places, either. I hope you at least had a good visit with your friends. <I still can't believe we are actually going to go to Disney!>

Tigger...how were the Nutcracker ballets? Are they over with now?

Everyone...try to stay warm & dry...have a good night..it's Dancing with the Stars tonight!:cool1:

I'm glad you had such a great time there. I love the city!!

I heard the same thing about the coverage from many people! What were they thinking???

Our trip was practically perfect....between 75 and 80 every day, cooler at night, no rain, lots of food and fun, no weight gain from all the running around, a perfect view, a great first experience with MVMCP, and lastly the icicle castle...breath taking! It was magical! I am of course depressed now to be back home! I'm a baby that way!

Hope you are all well and happy! Anyone in Disney right now?

Good evening all!!!
Deb, can't wait to see your pictures.:thumbsup2
Slo, I believe that is the second time that coffee pot has done that to you recently. :rolleyes1 Perhaps it's time to retire that one?!!:rotfl2:
Donna, IYB Nutcracker is done. We just have Chicago Ballet Festival? Von Heideke Ballet. At the Rialto Theater in Joliet next Sunday. Kellie has a rehearsal Tuesday evening. Then it is done.
I had a successful shopping day today. I do believe I am finished with my children. I have to do the totals to see if they are close, but looks good.
DD still needs to go pick out her holiday dress. They have no school Wed. so maybe we'll take a shopping trip for them. DS wants to go to a Lego store and check that out. Woodfield perhaps? I could so love to check out the Disney Villa place.
Well, better get dinner on the table.
Later all.

Hi all! We've been crazy busy at home lately. I'm looking forward to the long weekend.

Is anyone going to see Enchanted? It looks so cute, and who could go wrong with Dr Mcdreamy? :faint:

I'm impressed with all of you that have any christmas shopping done. I'm just starting to gather ideas.

Alex is going to the Circus tonight with his dad. It sounds like so much fun. I hope they have fun.

Well I'm off to make another cup of coffee so I can wake up.

Slo Sorry to read about your coffee pot adventures, not what you need in the morning. Last year I bought myself a Tassimo no more messing with coffee grounds it is one cup at a time though. It makes it fast less than 1 minute. Ok enough of my commercial.

Talk to you all later.

Come out come out Bunchy! I have to call you later.

2 more days until Thanksgiving, and I'm not ready:sad2: I still need to finish cleaning the house (I didn't finish on Sunday), and I need to iron my table cloths. Thank goodness my one employee is coming home from school, and working Wednesday so I don't have to work all day - this will be very helpful!!!

Donna - Sounds like you had a wonderful day Saturday :goodvibes We tossed around the idea of going to The Weber Grill for dinner, but we thought with 3 kids, RFC would be better. Wouldn't that of been funny if we did go and run into you there:) We absolutly love love love that restaurant!!!! :goodvibes

Debbie - I saw a picture of the castle, and it was breathtaking!!! :goodvibes

Tigggggggggggggern - It is the second time this coffee pot did this, but luckily it didn't soak my throw rug like it did before (which is good, because I got a new one:rolleyes: )The problem with it, is that you have to fit the filter in it just right so it doesn't fold over - it's such a pain!!!

HERSEY - Your coffee pot sounds nice, but I need more than one cup, I drink a little to much coffee in the morning:rolleyes:
**I hope Alex has fun at the circus!!!
**I really want to see Enchanted too - I'm hoping to take Stephanie sometime once my employee comes home from school for Christmas :)

Well, I gotta get going
Have a good day today everyone!!

Morniing..:surfweb: . I am downtown today.. lots of work to do.. but tonight is geoff's Eagle board of review.. so i am nervous.. better to be downtown where i have to work .... LOL

Hi all-

Geffric- Hope all goes well with Geoff's Eagle board review tonight :wizard:
I PM'd you a few days ago.

Debbie- nice pics of the parade :thumbsup2

Donna- sounded like you and Mark had a good time downtown Sat :thumbsup2

Tiggerrn- glad all went well with your DD in the Nutcracker performances :thumbsup2

Hi to all!

I've been super busy lately.

If I don't have a chance later, have a good Thanksgiving to all the Chicago DISers

Slo- You just need a Starbucks nearby! There is one in the plaza where I work. It exhibits a gravitational pull! I try to hold it down to twice a week, but it is not looking good for this one! Peppermint Mocha yesterday, Gingerbread Latte today!
Debbie- Nice pics! What a great way to kick off the holiday.
Hersey- We are going to see Fred Xmas tonight. We want to see Enchanted soon, too, but ds might not want to. It is for girls!
Tiggern- DD has three dances in her winter recital. Luckily, the winter one is informal, so they just have to dress in holiday clothes. The deposit is due for the spring's costumes, though. Three dances there, too, as she is doing hip-hop as well as tap and ballet!

I have been so busy! My family is coming down on Firday. I have been trying to get my shopping done at off times, like right after I drop the kids off. I have to work at 10:30, though, so I am not left with much time! I got all my groceries, though, so I can avoid those places the next few days.
I am enjoying my newish job as a waitress. I quit the coffee job. I amke much more in tips where I am at. I also get to talk Disney all the time! Every time I run a Dis Visa, I end up chatting with the owner. I have met lots of nice people!
Okay! Going to dinner before the movie!

My son is an EAGLE!!!!!!!
Tonight was DS#1 Eagle Board of Review.. and as of tonight

He is an EAGLE!!!!!!

I am so proud of him, he has worked so hard and accomplished so much...

so tonight I am an EAGLE SCOUT"S MOM...:thumbsup2
