Awww, thanks guys! I wish the St. Louis thread was as busy as this one :) I have been trying to look at school districts on greatschools.com. I am not sure how reliable that is :confused3 So many of the public schools in the area I thought were supposed to OK are getting some bad reviews.

Well if he is going to be in Downer's Grove for work, they can look in the Lemont, Lockport, New Lenox or Mokena area. We just had a new expressway open up, the 355 Veteran's Tollway, that would make it an easy commute from any of these south suburbs. I can personally vouch for both Mokena and New Lenox as being cute suburbs with family oriented neighborhoods and GREAT SCHOOLS. My DD's school was best in the district with very high scores. Check out the New Lenox, Illinois schools! They are awesome! Some of the neighborhoods are well established and others are newer subdivisions. There's a wide range of prices. Heck, the house next to me is for sale $269,000. Three bedroom ranch with an acre + of yard around it! Would love to have a neighbor with school age kids!

Wow! Thanks for all of your info!! I am going to check the areas out. She is still pretty upset about the move, and not wanting to look right now. That is why I am here ;) I love researching stuff like this. Newer is what she is wanting. They are not the type of people to do fixer uper work ;) OK..off to research New Lenox..thanks again!!

Lisle is also near Downers Grove. That's where I grew up. I'm not sure about Lisle schools, but the subdivision I was in, Green Trails, went to Naperville schools (District 203), which are among the best in the area.

Cool!

I just got my e-mail news from the Museum of Science & Industry.

This was in it

Hi everyone.
DH and I got in from our trip late yesterday afternoon. Our normal, daily routines picked right up from that moment on. So I am just now getting an opportunity to post.
I have to say..............I loved your city!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 Honestly, I am normally not one to like very big, big cities. However, your city is really beautiful!!!! The river going through it is amazing! DH and I had the chance to do the river architect/history cruise on Monday at 4 PM. We started with daylight but ended up in the dark so we got to see the city both ways. We also did the Sear's Tower overlook that early afternoon. That was unbelievable! (I don't like heights. I was pretty nervous!) On Tuesday, the other wife and I went shopping all day. We went to Michigan for the American Girl store (spend waaaayyyyy toooooo much money there!!!!!!!) and then to Water Tower Place mall (Is that the right name???). Then we went over to Navy Pier. It was a great day!!!!!!!!! We had dinner the first night at The Chophouse. The second night we went to Lawry's. It was a great trip, but it was too short!! I told DH that we have to go again soon!
Thanks for all of your help.
Slo, I had planned to go to the shopping area that you mentioned, but our hotel was only a couple of blocks from Michigan and a couple of blocks from Navy Pier. We were able to just walk to those locations so that is why we went there. Thanks for your help, though! We will be going back!!!!!!

TLHB70 Glad to hear you had a great experience. We think our city is pretty nice also.

I so don't want this cold weather to settle in. I'm still not liking that Thanksgiving is next week.

I'm so glad you had a nice time, and that you loved Chicago - it really is a great city!!! I'm glad you had a chance to go to Navy Pier - that is good place to go ::yes:: We try to go there at once or twice a year. Now you need to come back when it's warmer, so you have a chance to walk around even more. For some reason, when I'm downtown, I can walk and walk, and not get tired - I just love being in the city!!!!:goodvibes

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run everyone - have a good day today!!

Hi Rose..
How are things at your end?? Are you doing Thanksgiving this year? I always have the Turkey Daya t my house.. Thursday is DH's family and then Sunday is mine..

Good morning everyone! It really looks like fall now. My tree was finally dropped it's leaves so we will busy bagging this weekend.

We are going to watch the christmas parade from our warm couch this year. Maybe I'll get brave and go downtown one year. Maybe I'll have a better chance if they move it to July.:rotfl:

Stay warm.

It's the weekend before Thanksgiving - are you ready????
Kevin, is going grocery shopping today, and then I'll do the housecleaning tomorrow and during the week. We have the menu set, and we know who's bringing what on Thursday - so we are well on our way to being ready:thumbsup2

I ordered more Katie's Christmas presents yesterday. She is getting the Bitty Twins, and outfit for each of them, the matching denim dress for her (I love that dress), a bag to carry them in, and the hair items - she going to love it!!!! These items are from Santa :santa:

Tonight, right after work, we are going downtown to watch the parade, fireworks, and then we are going to RFC for dinner. The girls are so excited, because we are going to with my friend Jennifer and her DD - it should be a really nice night!!!! :)

Well, that's about it from me today
Have a good Saturday everyone!!

Good Morning everyone.

Today are my 2 boys Raingutter Regatta, that should be fun. :lmao: I volunteered last year to be an Awards person and this is the first time I've done it, so I hope I got everything correctly and didn't mess up too much. I think I did it correctly anyway.

Things are going to pick up crazy for us soon being that DD is in the church Christmas production and that will be put on Dec. 16. You should have seen us last night trying to find a time that everyone could get together. :lmao: :lmao: It was a true scene out of the play (the play is centered around an over-scheduled mom). I thought DD's Saturday's were booked before -- now it's even crazier. :upsidedow

That's about all that is going on here right now. I have another shirt I'm thinking of sewing for DD for the Christmas program because she needs a really sheer white shirt for a particular clothing scene (she will be wearing something underneath it) & my thought was to just make one because we don't own one. I'm still thinking on that one though.

Good morning to all! We are heading downtown soon for the holiday festivities in the city. We take the train, spend the day in the city enjoying the atmosphere, wander up to the Ritz Carlton and pretend we are mega-rich, enjoy the parade and fireworks with about a million of our closest friends, have dinner and then crash at the hotel for the night. We will do a bit of shopping in the city tomorrow before heading home. It's a great way to get in the mood for the season! :thumbsup2 (Although, Hersey, that warm couch sounds tempting, too!)

And, yes, we ARE going to Disney! :cool1: I still can't believe I managed to put together a trip on such very short notice, but I booked us a room at POP, made dining ADR's, found out when the Christmas party is in the Magic Kingdom, got all the holiday schedules...booked us a room on the way down & way home from Florida, convinced my sister's family to meet us on the way back so we have something to look forward to on the drive home...WHEW...I'm tired and I haven't even left yet!!!

Have a GREAT weekend, everyone!
