Uh, was this directed at ME? And if it was, then why don't you just say so?

What I did was defend my lifestyle choice to the non-childfree people who invaded this thread and said things that they shouldn't have said. That's not getting up on a soapbox, that's called defending oneself.
If you prefer to let people say all kinds of negative things about the way you live, I think its a shame that you don't stand up for yourself.
Who said anything negative before you started slinging your slop? Gee I guess those with kids aren't the only "meanies" toward you. You do not defend yourself, you sling around some crap in the name of being childfree. I'll be honest, it often seems you are busy convincing YOURSELF that you are Cheerful about being childfree. I hope you come to accept whatever it is that will make you happy.

Oh and you can still travel on a whim with kids. There are a lot of things you can still do with kids. It depends on how flexible YOU are. Even I know this and I don't have any children living full-time with us.

~Cheerfully being annoying to you. :teeth:

I think this statement is a real insult to those people on the DIS who have either adopted, or are adopted themselves.

First of all, I guess you missed my apology to the poster I was quoting.

Second, no its not an insult to say that most people adopted because they wanted to be a parent, not because they wanted to save a life. I will agree that someone who adopts a former foster child or special needs child is a better person than I. However, simply spending thousands of dollars to get a child from another country is not anymore praiseworthy than giving birth. The vast majority of people adopt from foreign countries because there are more babies for the taking and it tends to be an easier process overall. That is not an insult, that is reality.

Third is not an insult to adopted children at all.

Now go back to you cheerful child-free musings.

See? There you go again.

(Well, I guess you DON'T see it...)

You are accusing me of "slinging slop" (gee, how eloquently put) and insist on attacking me for no reason. I have never done a thing to you, ever. You are obviously out to push my buttons because you hold some kind of grudge against me that you refuse to get over. How sad. :sad2:

I am not out to "convince" myself of my childfree choice, I need no convincing. I am blissfully in love with my lifestyle (ooops! looks like I am CONVINCING myself again...right?? LOL!!). It looks like *you* are the one who has a problem with it. I AM cheerfully childfree, that is a fact, and if you want to believe otherwise, well, that's your problem.

Once again, I am put in a position to defend myself, only to get slammed for defending myself!

Oh, and if you're such a happy parent, why are you here anyway? Gee, could it be to: :stir:

Really, its like a scap you just have to keep picking at. Leave it alone already.

So, what fun things are everyone doing this weekend.... if any?

It looks like a rainy weekend here, so we might try to get some projects done before DH heads of for a month of travel for work (military).

Someone mentioned amusement park? Now THATs what I would rather be doing. :cool1:

Not much here. Just hanging out with friends and going to church on Sunday. Tonight we are going to have pictures made at the volunteer fire department which is cool because we can bring our beast of a dog with us. ;) I'm beginning to question the sanity of it though. He's so hyper we'll get the pictures back and he'll be nothing but a blur. :rotfl:

Let me say this again, DH has a DD and DS from his first marriage, they live with their mom, we do seem them a lot but it has been less since they are now teenagers and are pretty busy on the weekends. We can respect them wanting to hang out with their friends, go to parties, etc. DH and I do not have any kids together. So, technically, I am childfree though I do have two wonderful kids in my life that I love with all my heart and soul. But thanks for caring. :thumbsup2

As for my weekend plans...

After work I am going grocery shopping, picking up a girlie movie and having a night to myself since DH is hanging out with the boys.

Tomorrow I am going to WDW to meet up with a bunch of friends.

Sunday, no real plans except MIL will be over for dinner.

Going out for our 25th anniversary of being together. (20 years married). The place we are going to is called Bahama Breeze. They have a Bahamarita that is like the fiesta margarita at Mexico in Epcot. Yummy. Just trying to get primed for WDW. It is themed type place and really makes you want to be on vacation. They funny thing is not to many folks take their kids there. I think most people just want to have an adult time when they are there. :goodvibes

Everyone sounds like they have fun planned.....swimming, eating out....

I'm gonna have to throw some fun in the mix somehow. Maybe some geocaching if the rain stops. :sunny:

Bahama Breeze sounds fun!!! :cool1:

I don't get to have fun this weekend, I have to work. My job has rotating days off and this is one of my weekends to work. That's okay though because I'm off to WDW in 8 days where I will make up for all the fun I missed out on.

:cool1: Where are you staying?

DH and I will be married 10 years in October/together 12 years in January. We figured we would have kids (really like kids- I used to teach 3-6 year olds) at some point but never have. Lots of reasons mainly my parents lost a baby at 1 month due to heart issues and DH's parents lost a severe special needs child at 12. No one can guarantee you will have a child with no medical/mental issues and we do not want to deal with what our parents had to go through. You never know what issues an adopted child will have either. We hear so often about lots of problems parents have with medical issues, mental issues, out of control teens, money, divorce, etc.. No thank you-not for me:)

We are happy!

We are staying at the Pop resort and are celebrating our 10th anniversary. I already can't sleep at night.

And not that its any of your business, but my birth control is abstainence (by choice)
GOOD FOR YOU!!! It's so nice to hear that someone is actually abstaining these days. (FTR, I am dead serious, not being sarcastic)

Congrats!

Bahama Breeze is supposed to be really good. It is definitely on my 'to-do' list for restaurants.

I am getting ready to do my Disney Dinner with the friends and the kids! I have tons of stuff printed from the internet such as little secrets and tips and stuff- actually they have been to Disney more times than we have- but I am not sure how much info they get to check out on the internet. I just told them about the DIS boards recently- I think they checked us out a few times. But not sure how much info they got.

I made the kids their own green mickey head badges and will tell them to "keep their eyes peeled" like the fockers! :rotfl:

Found a Planet Hollywood coupon for 5 bucks off for them. Not sure if they are eating there- but thought I would give it to them anyway. :goodvibes

If anyone wants one- you can download it here
http://www.planethollywood.com/partners/entertainment_coupon2.htm
it is good for food, beverages or merchandise. I know the food is not that great , but hey- its 5 bucks, get a shirt or something! :sunny:

Probably will be going to the nursery (plant nursery that is! :rotfl: ) tomorrow to get some bushes for our landscaping project.

DH is SUPPOSED to go fishing on Sunday- I kind of want to just hang out alone here. But you know THAT never happens-- someone ALWAYS calls and asks "what are ya doin'?" But I think I wont fold this time......well, I think I wont anyway.

And! I CAN think of ONE thing you CANT do if you have a child- run your errands on a Harley! hee hee-
