Maddhatir, glad you are ok!! :)

Thanks!

Slept like crap after all that- I was up at 7- made coffee and instead of doing some work around the house, I am here! :rotfl2:

maddhatir -

Sounds like it could have been a microburst - all the fun of a tornado without the actual tornado... :confused3

By the way,
I'm not child-free, but I can really appreciate it some days. :teeth:

Hey Bfrosty:

Just because you have children DOES NOT mean they will be there for you when you get older.

Me, too! The same storms came through our area (eastern PA) around 2am and both me and DH were up until they were done. Hail, intense flashing and tons of wind. It didn't last long though.

Welcome GoofyDad869 :goodvibes

I have never heard of that! WOW. Now does that mean if I drive down the street some of my neighbors yards may not have the same kind of damage that we got, because the microburst follows the same path as a tornado? :confused3

Hey Flyerfan... I am still missing my favorite Flyer- Dan McGillis- It has been a long time, but I wish they would bring him back. :guilty:

Hi my fellow CFers :) I'm so pleased to see that despite numerous attempts at derailement we have been able to keep this thread on track.

I am not too exciting this weekend. We have been busy a lot this summer and doing nothing much sounds absolutely perfect. Contemplating doing"thanksgiving dinner" in August tonight.

Oh and about WDW it's usually just my DH and I and we love characters and character breakfasts. Some of my favorite rides are in Fantasyland :teeth: For whatever reason neither of us cares too much for Epcot though we've tried to love it :) We're just Magic Kingdom people :wizard:

We live in Marlton.

OMG- not sure if you all got the same storms we did last night but they were crazy! I have NEVER seen or heard anything like that in my life. Wind, hail, rain! I looked out the window and I couldnt even see outside! I was freaked out- I kept telling DH this does not sound right- I have never heard anything like this. The electricity went out. After the storm was over, I then heard an automobile outside on our street- I checked out the window and saw someone with a flashlite and heard what sounded like a poice radio. Here a tree fell on our neighbors roof! There were police and fire rescue out there.

What was wierd was, there are leaves and branches EVERYWHERE- it looks like someone put a bunch of leaves in a woodchipper and sprayed them all over the street, our yard, the house, my car looks like it is covered in basil! :rotfl: My Day Lilies look like someone took a weedwacker to them- they are cut down!

I wonder if we got somekind of a twister or something?

Anyhoo- I LOVE Wierd NJ mag. I have been a subscriber for about 10 years now!

Whereabouts in Philly are you from?

Us too! We will be doing the tour on Sept 21st for the first time. We have done Keys to the Kindgom- that was pretty cool.

I agree- DH and I have been 10 times and we still find new things to do.

I'm in NE Philadelphia. We got the storm about 4am and it was scary! Lots of lightening, wind, hail. At one point it sounded like rocks were being thrown at all the windows- it was so loud! Looks like I was lucky though considering the damage others got!

Looks like a damp, dark day so no pool or car washing today. Maybe I'll go shopping.

Next Saturday I'm going with a friend to the DVC resort at HHI for a short vacation. We're staying in a 2 bedroom villa with her sister, BIL and their 17 mth old daughter. It's cool because my friend and I are CF's and we can do "grown up stuff", but still have fun playing with the baby. We're planning on taking the kayak lessons they offer there, some of the nature walks and hitting the outlets-then playing in the pool with the baby when we get back.
So, this weekend is for getting the house ready to go away and enjoying the quiet before moving in with a family for a few days.

We're doing a bunch of nothin' this weekend too, although we might head to the beach tomorrow if we really, really feel like it. :sunny: Today we headed over to the Benjamin Moore store and picked out a color for our porch floor (high-gloss enamel Linen White--it's gonna look SO good after living with chipped paint for so long) and then went out to lunch. Absolutely no other plans (except I gotta clean off this cluttered desk, geesh! :goodvibes ).

Hi Goofydad, Beer Snobs always welcome! ;)

St. Louis had those same storms in July. 700,000+ people out of power. Part of the terminal at the airport ended up on the highway. Numerous tractor trailers blown over while driving. Over 90 mile an hour winds. We live in tornado country but this was not that. Just really violent thunderstorms. I have been in a hurricane before and this was alot like that. At least ours did not last long. My parents power was out for 6 days. And we were having 100 degree days. Everything is fine now. Glad everything is ok there. :sunny:

I said to DH, after the storm passed (it was not that long), imagine the poor people that have hurricanes all the time and they last for hours--- :confused3

This was first storm I have ever seen like this in my 42 years on the planet! :rotfl: NJ storms are pretty mellow compared to some.

I really liked him too and was disappointed to see him go. That's the problem with pro sports. As soon as you get used to someone, they leave. You either have to be an avid team follower or player follower. However, that could get expensive seeing as they change teams like underwear.

I was just forced to clean mine off because DH just came home with a HUGE color laserjet printer that work issued him. Ugh. Now, I have a pile of stuff on the floor I need to go thru.

I asked if I could sell it on Ebay instead. :rotfl: Nope, its govt property.
Well, they should of asked me first, because its too big. I'm sure I could have found them a smaller one for less money too. :teeth:

My friends are visiting on Monday and Tuesday with their new 3 month old. They are staying at AKL for 2 nights. Looking forward to seeing them all.

Today at lunch there was a family sitting at the next table. The little boy (about 5) would not leave his mother alone. Every time she tried to speak to her husband or the other lady at the table he kept pulling on her arm and saying "mom, mom, mom" until she gave up and talked only to him. She kept begging him to let her talk but he could not entertain himself for 2 minutes. It was really annoying. When I see/hear stuff like that I am really glad to be child free. Note the father sat as far away from him as he could and ignored him. At least he enjoyed his meal.

Oh my, the cheerfull have left the building. We ended up on the 6th page. That is not good. Pushed there by everyone talking about school. Come back cheerfull childfree folks. :rotfl2:
