Cheap(ly) made tickets (minor rant)

The Tyvec tickets are more robust and do last longer and work better - if you take proper care of them. In 17 years of goinf to WDW, I've never bent or creased a ticket; it's a simple matter of keeping them safely inside a wallet or lanyard except when you need them.

.

I can only speak from my own experience, and it is not the same as yours. We take care of our passes and put them away when not needed, but as I've said, at least one of the 4 of us has a problem every time we go.

In the past several years I have only purchased seasonal and AP's. The others appear look just the same so I thought they were vouchers too.

Our tickets from Disney.com are the plastic 'credti card' type. Just got em. They are nicely fit into our lanyards. :thumbsup2

Here's a question: do the new types at least biodegrade better than the old plastic ones? I'm far from an eco-saint, but even I can see with all the people visiting WDW year after year, how that's a lotta unending trash.

Probably, but I just don't see why they give the plastic ones for the short periods and the paper ones for the APs that are to last a year!

I have had the opposite experience, I have had AP's for about 3-4 years and never had a problem with them.

Last trip I got my dd's the MYW tickets from the Disney store and they were the plastic. We had nothing but trouble - they were so thick they didn't have enough "give" they didn't work well in the turnstyles and we had issues getting FP's. Day 2 we exchanged them at Guest Relations for the tyvek (paper) MYW tickets. For the rest of our 10 day trip, including water parks and such we had no more problems.

Your Disney Store must have something the ones in Jacksonville Florida do not....I know as recent as last Sunday our Disney Stores only sold plastic vouchers you still had to exchange at guest services for actual tickets. I have never ordered tickets onlineI was jsut assuming it was the same.

Probably because you purchased the FL resident discounted tickets. When you purchase an AP or MYW with a FL Resident discount you get a voucher to exchange at the gate rather than the actual tickets. This way they can verify at the gate that you are a FL resident before issuing the actual ticket. Out of state Disney stores have the actual MYW tickets.

according to DuPont (who makes Tyvek) it is not recycled with papers and plastic. It can only be recycled with other Tyvek. WDW is not a large enough user of tyvek to have collection stations.

It is not cheap, and for whatever reason, they have decided that Tyvek is better for AP's.

I am sure the plastic card type ticket at the hotels are so they do not have to install two printing machines. Its the same as the room key.

I don't think AP's are to be carried in your wallet all year long. They are not to be played with by children. I keep them away from credit cards, and phones and speakers. I don't know if these things erase the stored data or not, but it is very easy to keep them from being torn, bent and or damaged.

You got me! I've been throwing it in the bottom of my purse, folding it, and using it as a coaster for my coffee.

Seriously, I am very careful with ours. THey are kept in a place of honor when we are not at WDW.

We can not be the only ones that have trouble with those things. In fact, if it is not one of us having trouble, we are sure as shootin' behind some one who is at the entrance to one of the parks just avout every time we enter! :)

Please prove that the Tyvek passes are cheaper to make, and could you please post a photo of your passes with tears in it?

You've got to be kidding. I'll look through my vacation photos right away and see if I have those.

As I stated in my OP, "small thing." Just saying...my credit card type I had in year one was durable, more convenient to carry and "worry free." The paper ones..oops I mean the "tyvek" ones..have never failed, but I have felt the need to treat them more with "kid gloves" as I take them in and out of my wallet a million times.

I can deal, it's not a "big deal", no worries.

.

Yeah, LOL.

Don't worry about it, I'll post mine of one of the times the machine wouldn't take my card. We always get pictures of stuff like that! :rotfl:

I've never had an issue, other than the occasional demagnetizing which is my fault. We go at least once a month, most the time twice a month, and have yet to have a tear. They've even gotten washed in the laundry.

Well, I've had some problems wiht the plastic ones, but I didn't really care for the paper ones either. They did get worn. And I wasn't overly harsh with them either. I just prefer something a little stronger.

Your AP went through the laundry and it still works.

You have to be the luckiest person alive. I can't even picure how it would have enough substance to be inserted, but if you say so.

we ordered our package (hotel, ddp, tickets) as a package from Disney.com. We didn't get anything in our package but confirmation papers, etc. and vouchers for stuff. We ordered P&PP tickets separately and got those in the mail and they are the plastic ones. I'm guessing we'll get issued our tickets, etc. when we check into the resort.
