:thumbsup2 Very cool.
DH just got home. He has surprisingly good color in his face, I was half-expecting him to look greenish-gray and be totally spent. :rolleyes:

That's a good thing, since we have a baseball game tonight. And he's pitching!

Bleah. I can't stand cilantro! Or tomatoes, for that matter. :sick:

Unless the tomatoes are cooked. Somebody else told me they know other non-tomatoe eaters that like cooked tomato, not fresh. It just turns my stomach to acid. :confused3

I LOVE it. Onions make me want to blow chunks though. Grossest thing EVER. Well.. That and mayo. EWWWWWW.

I like tiny bits of onion, just a little bit of it. Unless it's onion rings, that's a whole nother ballgame! I looooove onion rings! :rotfl:

And mayo? I used to hate it. I still can't stand the smell, but I like a tiny bit of it on a steak sandwich now and then.

Yeah, he ALWAYS goes back to work too soon, and he ALWAYS comes home looking like death warmed over. Sometimes it's so bad he has chills and has to crawl into bed, or run to the toilet to get sick. :sad2:

So I really am surprised and pleased that he looks so good today! Hopefully he still takes it easy and can get through tonight's game in good shape. :)

Time for me to go start my tortillas.. YUM. After I started making them, I will NEVER buy tortillas from the store again. YUMMMMMM!!!!

Wow, homemade? I've never had homemade. You go, girl! :thumbsup2

I gotta get the boys ready for gymnastics anyway. Or "gellastics". Or "gymlastics". Or "genlastics. How do you say it, Mama?" :rotfl2: :lmao:

Howdy ladies!

I'm doing the best I can to catch up.

Bernice, I hope the job interview went fantastic, and next week you will have good news on DH. By the way..........I just noticed my quote. I should have known better! :laughing:

Gina, I backed up enough to see your pics of WDW. They are all so cute, and your niece is just precious. Your family picture is great!

Megan, I love all your pics of the air show. Alex looks so cool in his camou, and Mikalah looks adorable and so tall. You can tell she has lost the diaper bulge! When our boys were young, we used to love going to air shows. I loved the jets flying over and buzzing us! :yay: We used to go to Death Valley every year to camp, and on our way, there were always jets doing their maneuvers by China Lake. And then at the campground, the Stealth Bomber would always fly over. My boys just loved it.

Alison, I didn't have time to read everything about your sister. I hope things are going OK.

I know I've missed something.

Oh, I love cilantro. Megan do you have a killer recipe for carne asada? I tried one the other day, and I was not impressed. So I'm on the look out for one.

Oh and did I mention that I am mad about the AP rates not being good on the weekends in December? What gives? We only have to pay for one room then, so it is not as hard for us. But the rates will be like $400.00+ for the GC , verses last years $199.00. That was half of the price. :mad:

I also considered switching to the PP for our October visit, but paying for 3 rooms for 2 nights didn't make sense when I could get the $59.00 rate at Hojos. That is a major savings. Let's see..... $354.00 verses $840.00. Yikes!!!:eek:

Hmm...I shall check in on you guys later. I guess everyone is MIA. :(

Yummmmmmm is right!! Do you think I could do it? I'd love to know how!!! :yay:

It is SOOO easy. Here is my recipe. I got the recipe from the hillbilly housewife website. YUM!! I made a double batch tonight, and It only took about 20 minutes. I WISH I had a tortilla press.. It would be done in half the time. I cook mine a the griddle. Easy peasy.:thumbsup2

* 4 cups white or whole wheat flour or half each
* 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
* 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder (optional)
* 1/3 cup shortening
* 1 to 1-1/4 cups water
* Waxed paper
* oil (optional)
In a large bowl combine the flour, salt and baking powder. I prefer to use the baking powder because it makes the tortillas lighter, even if you roll them a little thick. The baking powder is not an authentic addition though, rather it is a southern mutation. Next cut in the shortening with a fork. When the flour is crumbly, add the water. Stir the dough with your fork until it makes a cohesive ball of dough. You may need to add an extra small spoonful of water if the dough is too dry. Be careful not to add too much though. When the dough forms a ball, knead it about 20 times. Then let it rest in the bowl for about 10 minutes. After it has rested, form it into 10 or 12 equal balls. Roll each ball in a little flour, to coat the outside of it evenly. Place a ball of dough on a sheet of waxed paper, or a clean, well floured surface. Roll the dough out into a a 6 or 7-inch circle. Try to get it as thin as you can. Loosen the tortilla from the rolling surface. Flop it onto a dry, hot skillet. Cook about 30 seconds, until the under side is dry, with a few brown spots. Flip it and cook the other side the same way. Transfer the cooked tortilla to a plate, and cook the next one. This goes pretty fast after you get the hang of it. You can roll out all of the tortillas first, in one stage, and then cook them all in the second stage. After you practice it some, the whole procedure takes less than 20 minutes, and the tortillas are sooo good. Use them the same way you would store-bought tortillas: burritos, soft tacos, etc.

The first few times you make these, you will need 30 to 40 minutes for the whole procedure. It takes time and practice to get the hang of rolling them out quickly and into a roughly circular shape. Please persevere. This recipe will save you $1 to $1.50 every time you make them. Also, if you don't have access to the store, you can still have lovely Mexican dishes all the same.

Homemade tortillas are not as flexible as store-bought tortillas. To make them more flexible, place them in a plastic bag while still warm, and let them cool right there in the bag. The steam will make them more pliable, and easier to roll up into fancy burrito shapes. This recipe makes about a dozen tortillas.

Sorry Sam- I will cook next time. But tell the truth.... you warmed up leftovers!
-See told you I would try to get on here.

Your dazed and confused sister.
By the way love the quote!

Yes, but I cooked every one of those leftovers to begin with and we had so many leftovers it took me a good 30 minutes to heat them all up!

Still can't sleep??

Hey Megan! Love the pic's, the kids look so cute!!

BTW, I was looking thru our videos and found the Stargate movie the other day. I couldn't figure out why Daniel Jackson didn't look like the photo you always post. Figured it out today, a different guy plays in the movie. I though I recognized him...and I did! He is the guy that played the obnoxious jerk Steff on Pretty in Pink.

Not sure I am replying correctly but yep! It's 11:30 here and I am still on Western time.
Thanks for feeding me anyhow... I came home and made DH and DS cook for me tonight. I don't think they did the dishes though.
