Gina, I'm sure it's perfectly normal to feel guilty about it. But the fact is, she's doing something wrong and put their family at risk (and the DH's health at risk!) She tried to draw you into it by making you stay silent, which is wrong as well. And I am sure her DH would rather hear about something awful like this from someone who cares about him rather than hearing gossip on the street. Or worse, finding out with a trip to the doctor, YIKES!

You did the right thing. And who knows? Maybe the twit will come to her senses, maybe she and her DH can go to counseling and work it out. It's now in their hands, where it belongs.
