Hi Gina!!! Who says bribing doesn't work???morning ladies....decided to bribe DD for a little help...we are going to get rid of anything on the second floor that hasn't been used in the last year....and let me tell you there is so much junk its not funny...it all belongs to the kids...old toys, clothes, old bedding etc...her pay off....a queen size bed in exchange for lots and lots of work...(i was getting her a new bed anyway but she isn't aware of it so why not cash in on it...)
When we get back from vacation we will paint and decorate her room...I don't care how she wants it so long as it is clean....SHE IS OUR MESS MAKER..well come to think of it she shares that title with my oldest...he is a slob to....![]()
my middle, I don't even check his room...its always clean...he is my neat freak...his future wife will love that...she won't have to clean up after him....the other two...their spouse will hunt me down and blame me I am sure...
and I kicked in a bonus...that new pair of shoes if she cleaned and detailed their bathroom....base boards and all...(this includes her brothers sink...they have 2 sinks in the bathroom...one for her and one for them...and I had a look at their bathroom this morning....its awful....good luck to her![]()
so, I am off to pour my coffee and get to cleaning...see ya
Morning Hyenas!!!!
It is sooooooooooo hot here!! Yuck and double yuck!! And then yesterday, we got some kind of weird hazy cloud cover, and then it got kind of muggy.![]()
I am a firm believer in not being around, when kids are getting lessons. You can spy on them, but don't let them see you. It always seems like kids act up for their parents. Or get very distracted by them. But when they're not around, the kids have to buck up, and try to do what the teacher wants. Now after they have accomplished a feat, then I think it is fine to watch again for that one thing, and give them alot of praise.
I also think it depends on the sport or activity, or even the child, and their age. I would think that swimming is probably the most hardest ones of all, like compared to dance. Water is scary, and the kids find that out super quick, after they have choked on it. And sometimes instructors might have to be somewhat mean in order for the kids to learn. I know this sounds harsh....................but I'd rather have them learn how to swim and be water safe, than worrying about their feelings. And if I was an instructor, and there were parents watching every move I made, and worrying about if I was going to make a kid cry, then I probably wouldn't try as hard.
I watched as much as I could of dance, which wasn't much, cuz the door would get shut in our face. But the teacher would let us watch every once in awhile, to let us see their progress. The first dance studio we were at was cool cuz it had a two way window. So you could watch without the kids knowing it. But alas..............................it wasn't that great of a studio, so we switched. After being at the new studio for a few years, I got to watch alot more often............................but then I practically lived there it seemed like.

Also there is that fine line, of how much a child can do, and how much to push them on. You want them to learn and have fun, but if you push too hard, then it might just back fire. I think that is soooooooooooo easy as parents for us to do. Let's face it...........if someone else's child can do it, then by golly so is mine additude. It's human nature.
I'm going through this right now with Kaitlyn. She has been attending volleyball camp. Everyday, I ask "How are ya doing compared to the others?" She is very anxious, because she wants to make the team in HS. So I guess I am anxious for her too. No duh!! Well it sounds like she is doing good, but come August we will find out, after she tries out. I will cry with her, if she doesn't, cuz I know how much this means to her.![]()
Yikes...................enough of my older mothering advice. Take it or leave it with a grain of salt if you please.![]()
