We have managed to keep our next cruise in March 2020 a secret from our kids for 8 months! Super proud of us for not slipping up! Like the rest of the Disney fans, we have decided for the big reveal to be on Christmas and would like to have a Character Call scheduled to help with the excitement. (Not original, I know, but a very effective tried and true revealing methodology) When I went to schedule the Character Call on Christmas, the confirmation email said we could call in with a code, but our time slot was full. So I tried another time, same bounce back confirmation email. Does this really fill up? Is there any way to see which time slots are open, if any? Anyone have experience with this?

Or maybe we’ll just have to pretend we’re calling Nana to wish her a Merry Christmas......? :rolleyes1

Well, yes. I'm not surprised. It's, basically, a month before Christmas, so many people have probably planned on a Christmas "surprise" call some time ago.

That's a bummer. We were planning a call that morning too. Oh well, I think the gifts explaining the surprise will be plenty. Getting a cruise for Christmas with or without a call is awfully magical.

I’m gonna be honest, both times we’ve tried the character call Mickey has sounded so garbled over the phone that my kids were like “Huh?” I don’t think you’re missing much. You can always do something at home like a scavenger hunt instead. Or wrap a box with a message inside that says they’re going on a Disney cruise.

Even if you got a spot, these calls are unreliable. We had 1 scheduled last Christmas and it never came and I read several reports here of the same.

We scheduled one last year, but the call never came. I hopped online and quickly rescheduled one to happen ten minutes later, and it didn’t happen. But several hours later we received like five calls in a row. They are pretty unreliable.

We had a scavenger hunt for the kids on Christmas Eve (5 between the ages of 3-10 at the time). They each found one bag and then they had to use the clues in the bag to figure it out.

Im having the same problem, wanted an xmas morning call but said it was booked up and I have to call in myself. Wanted to try and reschedule another time but once youve booked your two calls, your locked out and have to call the call center to reschedule. You cant even talk with anyone either you can only leave a message. Most likely I will try and fake a ring tone on my phone and pretend like Mickey is actually calling us.
