I have a cruise booked on points for this upcoming August. However, due to factors at work, my DH cannot get this time off. I would like to change to a Feb 16 cruise using our points. My use year is December. My question is...can I use the points I borrowed to take the August 15 cruise to change to a Feb 16 cruise? or will I have to use these points to cruise prior to the end of Nov 15?

No lectures about best use of points. I understand all of this. We use our points in a manner that best fits our family.

TIA and Happy New Year!!!

If you cancel, won't the points go back to this UY and expire the end of the UY? If it's the 2016 cruise, I think you'll be stuck. No lecture but as a reminder to others, this is one of the risks involved using points for cash type options.

That's what I am thinking. No worries though, I have 2 other trips planned that I can use these points for.

The points will be returned to the UY in which the cruise was to take place and will expire at the end of that UY if not used. In order to use those points for another cruise (or any other Disney Collection Reservation), it would need to take place during the same UY as the one you cancelled.

Returned reservation points may not be used for Disney Vacation Club Resort reservations or for World Collection exchanges and will expire at the end of your Use Year. Returned reservation points cannot be banked.

Since your points were turned into "reservation points" when you booked the cruise, they will expire at the end of the use year in which the cruise dates fall. (2014 Dec use year runs from 12/1/2014 - 11/30/2015).

They can only be used for another cruise, or one of the other options in the Disney Collection, the Adventurer's Collection or the Concierge Collection. They can not be used for a stay at a DVC resort or for an exchange via RCI or the LBVTC.

Thanks everyone. I booked the February cruise on cash today. Now my DD has to decide how she wants to use the rest of our points. Thinking about a summer cruise (only a different week/itinerary). Maybe a trip to DL. Or maybe a summer AND fall trip to DW (non DVC room of course). For us, our points haven't been wasted as others may think. We still have lots of options.

My understanding is that the original $95 booking fee is non-refundable and that the new reservation requires an additional $95 fee.

That is correct. I did know this and also MS does reinforce this when you make the reservation. Sometimes life just gets in the way of vacation plans...:confused3.

You do have options but it doesn't sound like lot's of them. Hopefully you won't lose any points but until you actually use them you don't know for sure.
