Changes to MK Wishes dessert party-Same Day Reservations

my wishes dessert party is Wednesday I'll report back if you can change location.

That would be great!! Ours is Thursday. Silly me I called Disney to see if I could get some answers for us but long and behold they new nothing! They did not even realize they had same day reservations! in the CM's Defense they only deal with advanced reservations.

Actually, yes, that was true in our case. We were given the choice, but that was only because we were the only same day reservation that day. The day before, they had 20 sign up. They weren't given the choice.

For a same day ADR you sign up at 10:30 at the Tomorrowland Terrace. There was nobody there in advance. It was so empty I thought I was in the wrong place. However, at 10:30 two ladies rolled out a desk, took my information and gave my family wristbands.

That had to be magical having the area to yourself. This event was never on my radar since we are not into desserts, and the fireworks are just fireworks to us. I guess I am of the belief that if you see one firework display, you've seen them all. From my time in Pittsburgh, firework displays were common. But after reading this review, I may be interested. I'll have to see how everything else plays out. Having the option to make the call the day of is a great convenience!

Prior to going, all I had heard about was Wishes...don't miss Wishes, etc. However, the show prior to Wishes, Celebrate the Magic at 9:45 is far more amazing in my opinion. It was well worth the ADR and the amazing view. It's not fireworks...it's a very unique projection show. Wishes was great fireworks display, but Celebrate the Magic was pretty darn amazing. I'll never forget how completely amazing and excited my little girls were. `

If this is true I would say the Plaza Garden will become more crowded when everyone figures out the view is better from there.

I agree. It's worth waiting until the day of for the ADR just so you can go to the Plaza Garden.

It depends on how many "same-day" guests they get.
If not too many, the entire group of "pre-booked" guests could decide go out to the Plaza/Hub area and still not fill it.

This is not what I experienced. We were the only people given the option to more locations because we had a same day ADR. All others who had reserved prior to the same day weren't given the choice to leave Tomorrowland Terrace.

That's good to know. We have a reservation for the dessert party right now. I'm still wondering if I should keep it or go for the same day. Really the most important reason we have it is to go to the Plaza Garden to view the fireworks. Are you sure they are going to let the people with advance reservations go to the Plaza Garden area if there is room?

We were the only same day reservations and we were the only people given the option to go to the Plaza Garden. All ADRs prior to same day had to stay at Tomorrowland Terrace.

I can not answer for maryj11 but for me I do not have experience with either location. I depend on opinions on these boards which is just that, a personal perception which varies from individual to individual. Having a ADR makes me feel a little secure in the thought I have a seat for my family's comfort but if we like the view from the old FP area I would like that option to choose it. I will not really be able to answer that until we see for ourselves. If I knew I definitely that I could choose either location then that would make me feel more comfortable

Like you said, it's a matter of opinion. But I liked the view from the Plaza Garden far more than Tomorrowland Terrace.

it's not dependent on the CM. At the time I made the reservation, it was explained to me that the same day reservations will be moved to Plaza Garden. They had no idea at that time how many people would sign up. However, when we arrived at 8:45pm they explained that because were were the only same day reservations they allowed us to make the choice because technically we had paid to got to the Plaza Garden. No advance ADRs were given the choice.

Yes, in order to sign up for a same day reservation, they start taking them at 10:30am that morning. Then they asked us to come back at 8:45pm for the dessert party and show.

I think you're right, this is probably one of those things where it's best not to assume what you can or can't do, other than same-day going to the garden and advanced staying on the terrace.

Did same day last night. Same day is upper terrace with lots of tables and just the pastry desserts. But all same days are welcome to go to the lower level for additional drinks and sundaes, but they can't stay or sit down there. They must come back up to their level. Different colored wristbands identify.

All same days are escorted to Plaza viewing area, but you do not need to be escorted and can come and go as often as you like. They just check for your wristband at the Plaza entrance. After dessert I left and rode Peoplemover and then came back for the shows.

I spoke with a supervisor prior to the above and she confirmed all of my questions.

Advance folks are not told about Plaza, but it was confirmed they are more than welcome there too.

Same day was great last night. Lower level was packed but upper maybe only 20% of tables used. And Plaza was great! Very uncrowded, everyone sitting on ground, tons of room. Felt like a picnic. A LOT of envious looks from the crowd.

Desserts IMHO aren't worth it. You're paying for the parking on this deal.

Is the Garden Plaza area roped off for MSEP as well, or do they clear that area out between the parade and Wishes?

When the area was FP+ it was open for the parade, but really not a very good view. You're better off catching the late parade or coming to the dessert party late.

When we are going, there is only one parade scheduled. 9:00 MSEP, 9:45 Celebrate the Magic, 10:00 Wishes.

We have 2 nights at MK, so we could just plan on catching the parade on our second night. Last time we went we missed out on Wishes (actually sat through it, but it was raining so hard all you could see were flashes of light through the downpour), so really hoping to catch it this time with a good view.

Last night there couldn't have been more than 15 same-dayers. I'd say capacity was less than 100 seats. Could be less. I didn't count seats.
