I plan to lock our cells in the safe, but I will have our laptop with us and its to large for the safe, so what are we supposed to do with it??? We will be gone for a total of 17 days and need to download photos with the laptop? Any suggestions?

Yeah but getting your photo taken by stolen iphone is not a criminal offence. I don't go asking my friends if the camera they're using to take my photo is stolen, do you? If Nelson is just the hapless friend who's getting his photo taken a lot by the thief, Nelson's also the guy who's name just got run through the mud. Ultimately, if Nelson isn't the guy who stole the phone, he should go after Ms. Facebook for falsely accusing him of stealing the phone for the sake of grandstanding on Facebook. Let's face it, she could have reported this to DCL or the cops instead of plastering the photos on Facebook. If she wanted to put them up after DCL or the cops intervened so she knew exactly who took it, she could have but instead, she's gone and named somebody who may or may not be the guy.
I'm not saying a CM didn't steal the phone. I just wonder if the right one got accused.

Lock it in your luggage. It's not as secure as a safe but it deters the would be thief. Why waste time trying to break into a locked suitcase when there are other staterooms to steal from.
There are also some Pacsafe merchandise that allows you put an exoskeleton around a bag and lock it something.
Agreed, but this photo:

kinda show some type of relationship between them, and are not your usual sightseeing photo's?
Also agreed that if he is innocent and the pregnant Spa lady are just in photo's from a friend with a stolen iPhone then he should take recourse with the poster.

What's an exoskeleton? And locking it in the suitcase is a great idea?

It's two photos of a girl lying on a bed fully clothed. Nelson's not even in the photos with this girl. The phone owner has captioned her as nelson's girlfriend... but unless she's holding a sign saying she's Nelson's girlfriend, how would she know. For all we know the thief is a woman and they were kibitzing in this woman's room when she took photos.
I predict Disney will make a sweet offer to the OP that includes a confidentiality agreement and requires her remove the photos from the internet.. . . I don't imagine we will ever hear what happens with this. My thought is Disney is going to offer her some kind of compensaion in return for her putting an end to the negative publicity.
Locking it in a suitcase and placing that suitcase in the closet or under the bed is a great idea. No one will know you have the lap top. Most thefts are a crime of opportunity. While I think most rooms hosts would not steal at all, the ones who do are not going to be stealing things like lap tops and wont be digging through your things. Small items that would not be as easily missed or able to track are what would be stolen.
FTR my DH brought his lap top and left it on the table all week and we both leave ours out in hotels including WDW. We locked up passports, cash, CCs, phones and our wedding rings before the wedding in the safe. And honestly that was more so we wouldn't misplace anything.
A Disney spokesperson said the line became aware of the Facebook photos and the alleged theft yesterday, and said the iPhone had been recovered. It is currently on the Wonder, and the line intends to return it to the owner when the ship's current cruise ends.
The spokesperson said that while situation is being investigated, the crew member, who is still on the Wonder, is on administrative leave and has been restricted from guest areas.
My HTC was stolen on the Disney Wonder over New Years Eve 2010-2011. I searched the room, the room steward searched, and it was no where to be found. They did a lock read on the room, and they said maintenance was the only person in the room other than us. The security told us that maintenance has "sticky fingers". My phone never turned up, and DCL said there was nothing that they could do for me. So maybe this is widespread on the wonder.
The DCL Security Officers told you they knew the maintenance crew were stealing Guest's belongings?

Smartphones are more than just phones...they're calendars with appointments, address books, photo albums, etc. To some people, their entire life is on that phone and to lose it or to have it stolen is not just about the monetary value of the phone or its replacement.
Besides, having something stolen from you is a crap feeling. In some ways, it's worse than losing it. When you lose something, you really have nobody else to blame but yourself but for somebody to steal it from you, you know that somewhere, out there, is somebody who conciously took something that did not belong to them.
I don't expect DCL employees to drink the "kool aid". I don't expect Carnival employees to drink their version of "kool aid". However, I do expect that certain moral standards be upheld by employees of any company, by fellow passengers and well, just about everybody. That's not going to happen ... DCL or not... but that's what we deserve.
This story is garnering attention because of the photos ended up in the iCloud stream and the captions are funny. I doubt people are sharing it because they want to find the culprit ... they're posting and sharing about it because they think it's a funny story about a dim witted thief who doesn't know how to reset an iPhone so he doesn't get caught. Somebody earlier mentioned "Darwin award". THAT'S why this has so much press. Not because it's DCL.
My guess is his fate is still under Disney investigation.Last I heard the phone had been retreived and the employee is on administrative leave. I think if Nelson is innocent, it would be somewhere on the internet by now.

The "thing" about this is that she could piece those pictures together in any way with any story.
I take issue with the fact that she has decided who stole her phone. Just because someone's picture is on the phone, doesn't mean it's their phone. In fact, the face that is among the photos on MY iphone the LEAST is probably my own.
Anyway, she found a way to get the attention of DCL very quickly and will get her phone back, which is fantastic. Comments on her facebook page however, seem to indicate that she is also "in it" for some extras from Disney -- which is just bunk. Disney owes her nothing except an effort to retrieve her phone.
In fact, one could argue that she has done more in terms of slander toward him and others in those photos than any damage that was done to her. For crying out loud, she called two DCL cast members hookers just because they are in a picture with him. Classy. Not.
AND she has written NOTHING on the comments under her album to indicate that Disney has gotten her phone back and has been in contact with her. Just seems to me something I would take the time to update. No?
My guess is his fate is still under Disney investigation.
