Cass & Rob do Vegas, Disney style! :) Trip Report with pics!

Cass, I just found your TR so I'm not caught up yet - but I'm really enjoying it ! We're going there in April for another convention, so I'm getting into the "Vegas mood" reading your report!

:
Basty Nastard!!

Ps....I'd have chinned him

Wish I would have had you as my bodyguard ::yes::

I thought the same thing when I saw that chandelier. Diane

It's the only reason I took that photo, it reminds me of the Magic

Enjoying this report. And that Hard Rock, brought back memories. We loved the one in Vegas. And have been to a couple to. I remember in Vegas, though, so loudI felt bad for an older lady there with her family. ;)And this was the place for a great burger!

Actually, I was shocked, it wasn't loud at the HRC, but it was REALLY loud at Burger Bar at Mandalay Place :scared1:

Where are all the pics of you guys hitting jackpots on slot machines???? I mean your in vegas, did'nt you guys do any gambling??
btw this has got to be in the top 5 of my favorite trip reports, and it's not even a Wdw trip report.

Ok, first of all...yes cameras are banned inside the casino and have heard that they are cracking down.

Second...I SUCK!!!!!!! I couldn't win if my life depended on it!!! :sad2: The whole week long I kept picking a machine and feeding it a $20 bill and losing it within minutes!!! :guilty: :sad1: Everywhere we went this happened! I couldn't even win on my favourite slots Wheel of Fortune!!!

The only time I didn't lose my money almost instantly was when we played Price is Right at MGM.

By the time Friday rolled around, I gave up completely! Rob kept asking me if I wanted to gamble and I just said naahhhh, I'm just gonna lose it anyway :rolleyes1

Mind you, if I had won big...that camera would have come out of that pouch in seconds!! :lmao: :ssst:

I don't know if it is still the same as 1999 but you weren't allowed to have a camera on the floor due to security reasons. When we were there we saw a man camera taken from him.

Yup and worse from what I have read!

Those chips look so delicious!! But I am the Carb Queen so anything with potatoes or pasta and I'm there!!!:lmao: My family knows not to tell when its my birthday too. One time when I was a teenager my friends and I were eating at a restaurant and they told the waitress it was my birthday. I got so flustered that I wanted to get out and go to the bathroom and my friends wouldn't let me, so I climbed under the table to get out and they ended up singing to the wrong person. :lmao: I don't think I'd be quite that dramatic today, but if I were at the Hard Rock and the whole restaurant would start singing, I might!!! :upsidedow

Oooh then we would get along well ::yes:: from one carb girl to another ;) And I would have run out of the restaurant if that was me :rotfl2:

Cass, I just found your TR so I'm not caught up yet - but I'm really enjoying it ! We're going there in April for another convention, so I'm getting into the "Vegas mood" reading your report!

I hope you enjoy it :thumbsup2 I can't tell you how many Vegas trip reports I read in the last 4 weeks before going :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

we're waiting.....:rolleyes1

I know  I was planning on starting it when Kira had her nap but my dad came to visit today and stayed to chat while she was sleeping and now I have to start supper soon. I will try to get it done tonight after supper :thumbsup2

everyone looked at my crocs in Vegas too! much more in 07 than last march. i had kelly green ones for st patricks day! love vegas and so glad i found this report. i have been in march the past 2 years with my best friend and we have had a blast staying at the mgm and bellagio the last time very fancy! can not wait to read more!!

Day 6, Saturday October 18th

This was our final day in Las Vegas and our travel home day. At this point we were really missing Kira and were big losers at the gambling thing so basically we just wanted to go home.

Rob had called at 1 AM to ask for a late check-out and we got one for 1 PM but we didn’t need it. We intended to sleep in but we were both up and showered by 10AM. We packed up all our crap and checked out by 11:15. I was hoping to try Raffles at the MB for breakfast but Rob fell in love with his berries from the Studio Café at MGM and wanted to eat there. Who was I to deny my berry-lovin’ hubby??

So back we went to the Grand hotel
IMG_2740.jpg

The café was really busy and we were lucky not to have to wait too long for a table (lots of tables for two!) so I wasn’t going to push my luck by asking for a booth.

I told Rob to get his berries and he could have half my breakfast too. I only took a few bites of mine, it wasn’t very good. It was really bland, I could have been eating just about anything, none of it had any taste to it.

Berry heaven

Bland city
IMG_2739.jpg

Rob kept telling me how amazing his raspberries were so finally I decided that I needed to taste one of them. He was right! Amazing!

After breakfast, we didn’t really have anything planned. We were shopped out and there was nothing else that was a must-do for us. We had a couple of twenties burning a hole in my wallet so we ventured over to the Price is Right again. At first we had bad luck but then it started to turn around a little. Our original $40 lasted for about 2 hours and we won a little but we kept putting it back in the machines. We had fun and we kept hitting the “Come on Down!” :woohoo: and had fun spinning the wheel, which is totally rigged by the way! LOL!

Finally we were out of gambling money and still had nothing to do.

What to do next?

I told Rob that I wouldn’t mind spending a little more time at the MB, so we headed in that direction.

My favourite place
IMG_2746.jpg

We tried to valet but we were denied entry to the valet area. What??

Oh yeah, that stupid Barrett-Jackson car show was at MB and there was almost no parking anywhere! We were just about to leave to go park at Luxor when we totally lucked out on a spot in the self parking garage.

You made a time machine? Out of a Delorean? (sorry, I couldn’t help myself, it’s one of my fave all-time movies!)
IMG_2747copy.jpg

So we walked around a bit and by the time we got near Mandalay Place, we were getting hungry again (well, I didn’t really eat breakfast so I was starving!) so we decided to give Burger Bar one more go :rolleyes1

This time we waited about 30 minutes for a booth, but I didn’t mind, we had nothing better to do. Although I really wish they would put some benches or chairs at the front for people who are waiting for a table considering they are always busy!!

I had my usual (HAHAH) Kobe and Rob decided to try the Buffalo burger this time.

Nice lean buffalo
IMG_2748.jpg

Nice fat cow
IMG_2749.jpg

I made sure mine had no pink this time!
IMG_2750.jpg

It wasn’t as good as the first time but again, I think it’s because it was cooked well-done but it was still good and the fries were excellent!

I wanted to walk near the front of the hotel so we made our way outside and found some very cool scenery!!

Yup, next time we stay here!!!

IMG_2761.jpg

It was almost 6 by this time and we needed to gas up the Pacifica and get it back to the car rental place. It cost $30 to fill it up after using about half a tank! :scared1:

Leaving Las Vegas (on a plane though!)

IMG_2762.jpg

Dropped off the car and hopped on the Terminal 1 shuttle.

Wait a minute…

We landed in Terminal 1 but our tickets say that Westjet is in Terminal 2. And then we look up where all the signs are in the shuttle bus and it also says that Westjet is located in Terminal 2.

Crap.

So I ask the driver if he could drop us off at Terminal 2 when he’s done and he said he could do it first. Whew!

So, we stop at Terminal 2 and pick up some new passengers and as we are grabbing our very heavy luggage the driver asks us what airline we are flying. I tell him and then he tells us that Westjet had moved to Terminal 1.

Great!

I’m a little ticked that Westjet didn’t inform us that they had changed Terminals but oh well, crisis averted and we make our way to Terminal 1.

Before we check-in we call the princess cus it’s nearly bed time for her and we won’t get to talk to her again until we pick her up tomorrow morning.

My brother tells me that she’s running around naked.

:scratchin

I assume he is joking (hard to tell when my brother is joking) but then Auntie Heather comes on the phone and SHE tells me she is running around naked LOL!:lmao:

Apparently she just got out of the bath and took off running!

Kids. Gotta love em!:upsidedow

So back at check-in…

Oh I forgot to mention that my brilliant husband checked us in online on his blackberry while we were stalking Suzanne Somers at “O”.

It pays to be married to a techno geek sometimes.:goodvibes

We dropped off our bags, got our boarding passes and no less than three people checked our ID and boarding passes at security.

Now I am all for security. I even worked as a pre-board screener at the airport for 2 years so I understand the protocols and all the fuss. But we were the ONLY passengers going through security at the time (if you don’t want lines at the Vegas airport, leave on a Saturday night people!) and yet our stuff was checked (and even signed by one of them!) by three different TSA guards all within about 15 feet of each other.

I can just imagine how slow this line is when it gets busy!!!

Grabbed some snacks and water in the gate area and then found a nice quiet corner to watch some behind the scenes of Indiana Jones.

Our plane was late coming in and so we were late leaving but we made it home safe and sound to Calgary.

Took the 6–minute walk to customs (I kid you not! There are even signs counting down the minutes till you arrive at customs!) and got through no problems. Waited forever to get our luggage and then just as we walked out the door my sister Deb walked in the airport, perfect timing!

We were home by 2 AM and in bed by 3AM.

Didn’t sleep well though. I think I am spoiled by that bed at the Luxor!

We were both up and showered by 9:30AM and on our way to get Kira! She was really happy to see us both and I think auntie and uncle were happy to see us too LOL! Kira had been pretty good all week but that morning she apparently woke up on the wrong side of the crib.

Heather told me about their week while Rob packed up the car. I was really grateful to them for taking such good care of Kira and was especially proud of auntie for doing such a great job!

Here’s a pic of Kira shortly after we got home…I think she was happy to be home and to see Goofy !(our cat)

So that’s it, the Vegas adventures of Rob and Cass have come to an end.

I might post a few little videos that I took when I get a chance.

Until next year when we do WDW and DCL,

Aurevoire!

Oh no Cass, its over so soon?? You gave us entertainment every day this past week, what are we going to do now?;) Nothing compares to your trippies, just nothing. I cannot miss it. btw, Kira, absolutely adorable, and I can't believe how big she has gotten already!:) Thanks so much for all the pictures, we so appreciate every one of them, it brings us right to what you're talking about, fantastic. Have a great Winter, your trip will be here before you know it.:thumbsup2 p.s. oh and one more promise? Can I please have another special Castaway Cay hammock picture, my favorite are the ones right by that bar on the water, thats where me and my DH fell in love with this island...pretty please?

Great TR Cass. :thumbsup2 I enjoyed every minute of it. Are you doing a Pre-Cruise-Trippie?? Huh? Huh? Are ya? Are ya?

Oh you are just too too sweet  Well, we have a whole year to go, so I can give you a whole year's notice on the next trip report :lmao: But I won't be writing this one live. We will only have 6 days at WDW before the cruise so I will be doing the trippie after I get back :thumbsup2

As for your hammock pic, we won't be going to Serenity Bay but I am sure I can post a lovely hammock pic for you from the family beach :goodvibes Thanks for reading, always great seeing you :thumbsup2

LOL Nanc! Probably but not for like 11 months :rolleyes1 :lmao: :rotfl2:

oh that would be great, oh I didn't like Serenity Bay, loved the family beach! I thought serenity bay was too much like the beaches at home. I loved being able to see that beautiful ship and all the families from the family beach. Have an awesome trip, are you going with extended family this time or just you and Rob and Kira?

Another great TR Cass! I loved it from start to finish! Thanks for all the great pictures too. Little Kira is a cutie. I love her little jeans, pink top and grin. Adorable!

Until next year when we do WDW and DCL,

Aurevoire!

Well looks like you will be back sooner than waiting for another 10 years. This time the Mandalay. It was a lovely hotel when we stayed at the Luxor. Def, one of the better hotels on the Strip. Glad you had a lovely time, bt shame you didn't win big.

Great Pics Cass! I love the MB too! The first time we arrived in Vegas, we were in a Limo with a couple who seemed like maybe he was a pro ball player or rap star or something - lots of bling and lots of confidence! Anyway, we dropped them off at the MB, and I told DH, "some day we are staying here!" I know we will. I said that about DCL, DVC, and Atlantis, where I got a free trip!

Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary! I can see that you truly are soul mates :lovestruc We have been married for 28 years, and it's not always easy, but it's worth it.

Funny how your taste in food is so much like mine - I'm the carb queen too! (I almost typed "crab queen" here :rotfl2: ) I'm not so sure I would have quite as many burgers in a row, but you do know your burgers! :thumbsup2

We stayed at MGM the last time we were there - we got a $25 upgrade to a suite - very nice! It is amazing how expensive the food is there. :sad2:

Thanks for the great report - it gives me some ideas on what to do while we're there!

Oh, and Kira is beautiful! I'm glad she did so well while you were gone.:cutie:

Your TR's just get better and better!!

I love reading them!!!

Cant wait for your pre trippie for your trip next year..

Fabulous! Couldn't you please go on another trip sooner rather than later??? How will I spend my time procrastinating now?? :rotfl: Kira is getting so big already. What a cutie. Thanks for sharing. Shall I start a collection for your next trip??

It was worth the wait Cass - loved the whole thing:t

Thanks Karen  Glad you could join us :goodvibes

oh that would be great, oh I didn't like Serenity Bay, loved the family beach! I thought serenity bay was too much like the beaches at home. I loved being able to see that beautiful ship and all the families from the family beach. Have an awesome trip, are you going with extended family this time or just you and Rob and Kira?

Oh you meant the family beach! We've only been there once but next time plan on going all the way to the end :thumbsup2 Last time we were with family and they decided :headache: And nooooo no more family!!!! :sad2: Our good friends Sean & Bernie and their 2 kids will be joining us for the cruise and just the 3 of us for WDW this time ::yes:: No more IN-LAWS!!!!!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Another great TR Cass! I loved it from start to finish! Thanks for all the great pictures too. Little Kira is a cutie. I love her little jeans, pink top and grin. Adorable!

Thanks Muffy  Glad you enjoyed it :thumbsup2

You got a free trip to Atlantis????? Please tell me how, details, I want details!!! It's one of my dream destinations

I think I OD'd on burgers and fries was because I didn't have any for about 4 months prior to this trip. I was working out and eating really well and I lost 20 pounds. I gave up burgers and fries so by the time I got to Vegas, I was going through withdrawals :rolleyes1 :lmao: :rotfl2:

By the way, I am the crab queen as well as the carb queen  :lmao: I also spelled it crab when I typed it the first time :rotfl:

Hahaha I WISH!!! As it is, next year's trip is going to be tight. But I made a WDW 2009 collection jar last night and I am determined to get it filled by next year :rolleyes1

I also decided to scour the internet and enter any and all contests that will help us get there :lmao: Pathetic huh? But Kira will be just under 3, the perfect age I think, to go to WDW :thumbsup2 I was 3 on my first trip, so I am hoping she will have her second trip by the age of 3 :dance3:

I figure I will have enough airmiles by then to get our WDW tickets through them, so that will help too :thumbsup2

And we might have enough avion points for one of our flights :goodvibes

But please feel free to start up that collection :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Great TR, Cass! Thanks for sharing your anniversary trip with us ... I'd say you guys had a pretty good time! :goodvibes

See ya on the BOB, lady!
