JB what are you writing where you put the asterik---where I was removing water from the trap...its basically a sponge that funnels material into GCMS...lot of water in atmosphere sticks to the chemical sponge..you heat the sponge up bribe chemicals off of it into steel loop so chemicals heated come off sponge vaporize go into loop that freezes the chemical...water sometimes gets into loop and ice crystal form blocking flow of air so we have to defrost

JB so because its a qualitative exam your methods are different--does not mean (daughter interrupted me)

JB asks him about doing work correctly--says this is normal

JB asks if he had another chemist verify his work--yes...Dr Vass

JB asks if Vass is a chemist--has many years experience working with machines...not his title but he has ojt'd and is very proficient

JB aware of last time Vass had chemistry class...80's---Has been involved extensively

JB anything negative to say--very talented

JB another chemist verify results--No

JB trap froze up--at 1 minute 50 seconds

JB whatd you do--explained earlier about defrosting

JB air sample from trash the sample froze up again--yes

JB passenger air sample...blank appeared to be clean you wrote for standards --yes

JB any issues you ran into with this item--started blank but noticed I didnt reset computer so i stopped reset the sysytem and started over

JB so no protocols means it wasnt caught before---already stated

JB can you describe what standards you were working with---???

JB did you catch an error---yes

Jb no protocols to prevent this--Told you we didnt run these according to certain standards

JB did you catch yourself on another error--continuation of prior

JB did you change something in the middle of your process---The evidence smelled really bad and I changed it so it wouldnt stink up my lab

JB did you have to change the procedure--yes to prevent stinking but it doesnt change outcome

JB so you had to make adjustments--voluntarily yes but it doesnt change outcome

JB talking about not seeing it go thru--yes material was heavy and sticky

JB was there an issue that messed up this run page 93--yes a closed valve

JB did you catch it--yes

JB page 94 still had problems--yes

JB anytime your instruments broke---no dont recall

JB possible that you had issues with GCMS that it broke down while doing testing --didnt break down...loop was dirty from prior objects testing

JB no quality controls...you are the quality control in the lab as you run the tests--I am the primary ????

JB Vass is not a chemist---not his written title

JB ever occasion where you issued protocols for collection of volatiles--yes

JB asking if he recognizes document--yes

JB away from mic...................---collection of soil samples

JB why do you have the protocol--when collecting soil samples is to collect from a pristine??? to avoid contamination whenever possible

I think the guy on the stand is starting to get tired of bozo going in circles.

Jose keeps asking the man the same questions over and over. He's actually badgering his own witness! Every 10 minutes or so, he tries to get him to say that Vass wasn't a chemist. Baez has absoultely no clue what he's doing and this witness knows it. You can tell by his expressions.

Jose keeps asking the man the same questions over and over. He's actually badgering his own witness! Every 10 minutes or so, he tries to get him to say that Vass wasn't a chemist. Baez has absoultely no clue what he's doing and this witness knows it. You can tell by his expressions.

He's only "his" witness because the defense called him. The defense is trying to discredit him (and therefore Dr Vass) and their air testing of the trunk.

I cannot believe Baez put this guy on the stand. That did NOTHING for the defense, and actually was a positive for the prosecution.

I'm hearing that the body language of the jurors when Ashton speaks is noticable. They listen, sit up in their seats. I like this. I get irked when Ashton is called a bully. He's doing what he can to get to the truth. Hopefully its working.

Me too! He's challenging information, and sure, he's trying to unnerve witness a bit. Mason/Baez, on the other hand, bully people with things like "Look at me, not the jury; I'm talking to you." (Not a direct quote.)

ETA: I would LOVE to watch the jury during this trial, and how they react.

This witness RESPECTS Dr. Vass. He was actually praising the states witness with a smile on his face.

Seriously. I'M LOVING THIS!!!!!

I'm no legal expert. But I'm thinking its a very bad thing to have your defense witness actually blush about a state witness. Right?

I've been gone for the past 45 minutes. I came back and it is like I have never left. GET TO THE POINT ALREADY! Whew! I feel much better now.
