I know how this is going to sound, but bear with me.

Dr. G said 100% of accidental drownings are reported. How can this be possible? 100% ? There are so many missing people/children that I'm thinking couldn't some of them have drowned accidentally with the accompanying person panicking and dumping the body somewhere never to be found?

I

Think you answered your own question... she stated 100% of known cases, as in 100% of the statistical information in their database of drownings were reported immediately after found. "Never to be found" would not be considered a known case of drowning.

I mean, common sense and plain old human feelings would make the person call 911, but we're all not the same and there have to be exceptions.

I was trying to see Casey as innocent. What if Caylee did accidentally drown in the pool under Casey's care and Casey covered it up because she's seriously mentally ill and so was able to jolly along with her day without feelings because she's only capable of loving her own well being? Can someone answer this without emotion playing a part in your response and just be unbiased for a moment, focusing on the possibility of Casey being mentally ill?
I do agree with you that the 100% stated by Dr G was a bit of a generalization.

However, about Casey being mentally ill... The original judge, Judge Strickland ordered a psyche evaluation and everything was fine. As well, the defense specifically said they were not using an insanity defense. If she were ill, they would have used that as a defense and they very purposely and specifically stated they would not. She has been evaluated and there was a therapist in jail she speaks to. No one has come out with the argument that Casey is mentally ill. She may be loony, but she is completely sane!

I think it's entirely possible. I've been making an effort to remain very objective through this whole thing.

I stated earlier (maybe in the previous thread) that Casey behaves like a child. For someone who's reasonably intelligent she hasn't made much effort to appear consistently in pain in plain view of the jury. I'm not even sure she really grasps the magnitude of the situation. Her actions after Caylee disappeared made no sense whatsoever (someone with even a shred of intelligence would realise that sooner or later people would be asking about Caylee - and going out to party was going to look really really bad).

I don't think she's mentally ill as such, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if she just messed up really badly (Caylee got killed) and she had no idea how to deal with it so she just went into deep denial.

It must be tough for the families of the victms in the cases being cited by Judge Perry to hear these things again (if they are).

Good point! I missed that!

Tomorrow I'm going to DD's Dr appt and will see the ultrasound of my first grandchild. (And maybe gender!) Yup, I'm emotional today.
Just makes it all even harder to understand , doesn't it?

There is no way the defense could plead insanity. When she was out on bail the first time, before they knew Caylee was dead they have to do an evaluation of insanity before CA could be released out on bail. I'm sure if the defense knew that Caylee was dead previously to Casey being released out on bail they would be going for an insanity plea.

Casey's looking like she doesn't have a care in the world.

Nancy~ We were thinking the same thing at the same time.

I saw that, I'm so glad I'm not alone in that train of thought. There is no way that Casey would have sat in jail if there was any way she could blame someone else.

That's been my argument against this silly defense all along! If it was an accident, why sit in jail for 3 years? If it wasn't her fault, why sit in jail for 3 years? Altruism is NOT on her list of attributes.

Wow the judge says more than enough evidence, and if I am correct in my hearing he also said she was alive through the process. Casey is so cold. I wonder if the judge goes back in his chambers and has to laugh at some of the stupid stuff the defense just lays out in the court. He may have nightmares of baez for years to come. And as seeing that the judge wanted to laugh this morning during covering his mouth, yep I think so. The defense is has nothing to go on and I dont know what he can do to tell this jury there is any eveidence of drowning and sexual abuse to casey with out her testifying. At the end can the judge look at them and say I told you so to Baez and Mason?

Judge Perry has been a judge for a long long time. He has probably heard it all and seen it all. I personaly think that he knows how this is all going to go down. I also think that he has developed his own opinion on what happened to Caylee although he's not allowed to say anything about it. It will be intresting to see what he has to say about everything after sentencing

The thing I couldn't get out of my mind from yesterday was Cindy whispering "I love you" to Casey. It blew my mind!

I believe she could still love her, yet want her to be punished for killing her granddaughter. I'm against the death penalty, so I wouldn't want anyone to receive a death sentence. I would want my child to be jailed if they killed anyone. This would have nothing to do with my love. I would want justice for my grandchild.

I would be so ANGRY at my daughter for all the lies. Knowing how much Casey lied before Cindy found out about the disappearance, I can't imagine they didn't immediately suspect Casey's involvement.

And George....I have a feeling something went on there. I feel for Cindy...what a living hell.

It's just very very hard to me to grasp the idea that a mother can deliberately kill her child and act so nonchalant without having something seriously wrong with her mind. She shows no sadness for Caylee at all. Look at how we're all reacting with tears and sadness over that poor baby's death, but nothing from Casey. How can she be sane? I know everyone reacts and grieves differently, some not showing open emotion, but my God, Casey looks like she's in traffic court. I can't understand it. Don't we all have some kind of human emotion over the gruesome death of a child, even if we show it differently? Even people who murder loved ones and admit it show some kind of emotion, even if it's anger towards the victim or happiness that they're dead or regret or even just showing stress in some way that they're going through a murder trial.

Although Casey did sort of break down that one time when she became "sick".

I don't know. I'm trying to understand the psychology involved, but I can't.

I think if I were a juror, I'd NEED to hear see Casey testify in order to make a verdict with a clear conscience.

Hi Old & New Folks,

I've been watching but not posting, taking care of a very sick puppy.

I do have a question.

Cindy said she never saw the t-shirt that Caylee was wearing except in a photo. Being Cindy was clearly the day to day caretaker how did she never see this shirt?
Where did CA get this shirt and if she wanted clothing that did not come from the home to make it look like someone else was involved why was it never caught on her many shopping trip videos?
