Thank you for all the info. any queen beds coming? I will confess to being a starfish sleeper who has been known to kick people who get too close at night. :rolleyes1 Maybe my husband will just need to wear shin guards and :duck:.

You're welcome. There are reports from people there now that they are setting up staging tents in the Jamaica parking lot for the room refurb that is scheduled to include queens. :thumbsup2

Hello Ive have just booked CB for Dec and am now feeling very worried I may have made the wrong choice. I have read some very recent reviews of the hotel on another website from people that have visited over the past 4 weeks and all of them have said it was very dirty one even saying there were rats and cockroaches running around. I take all reviews on a case by case review so wanted to know if this was the general feeling from those that have visited recently or have you found the opposite. The other thing they were complaining about was the wait time for the buses one saying it took 2hrs to get a bus and they were packed. We have previously stayed at pop and movies and were happy there but this is the 1st time at christmas and there are 7 of us so I really want it top be the right choice. Should I ring and swap back to POP? thanks for your opinions Casey

Wow, our experiences have been just the opposite of that. CBR is our favorite moderate and have never come across rats and cockroaches. A coworker that I had recommended CBR to came back to the office yesterday raving about how beautiful it was.

Again, this has so not been our experience during our total of 34 nights at CBR.

They are starting to refurb the rooms. I'm not sure if they'll be done by Christmas time, but if they are, you may actually get a brand new clean room! We have stayed at CBR multiple times and have NEVER seen cockroaches or rats. Our last stay the room we were initially assigned had an awful mold smell and with my allergies was a real problem. But when we called the front office and explained the situation they moved our room and it was great. We love CBR

Is Jamaica preferred..and if so I'm guessing if you booked standard there would be no point on requesting it?

We were there 3 weeks a go (although it already seems like forever :( ). Our experience couldn't be anything further than those reviews.

Everything was clean. In fact, when walking around, I always saw lots of CMs performing cleaning and maintenance, etc. - which has always been the case.

The busues are always tricky, no matter where you stay. The longest wait we had was 20 minutes one morning waiting for an AK bus. And so while we weren't thrilled with that wait (but not upset at all), another family got to to the bus stop 30 seconds before that bus pulled up and got on also. So while we were on the same bus, you had two families who would resport totally different experiences about the bus service (if based solely on that bus ride). That said, I've never heard of anyone waiting 2 hours for a bus - ever. There's no way that's true.

I think you read the review of someone who probably had something out of the ordinary go wrong, and was ticked off. And even though their experience was not typical, they chose to bash the resort as much as possible.

I seriously had to laugh at the "report" that claimed CBR had roaches and rats in the rooms. The odd bug, sure, I mean this is Florida after all, some are bound to get in once in a while.

All this aside, it seems to me that the general attitude towards CBR is becoming more positive lately. Once the renos are done and we see what kinds of beds and or suites they offer, especially for groups larger than four persons, I could imagine CBR becoming the most popular of the mods. Much like Port Orleans is now. It'll be interesting for all us CBR watchers!:)

Hello. We just booked a stay at CBR. We stayed once about 5 years ago in a pirate room. We had a car on that trip and I remember always driving to the food court and main pool. This trip we will not have a vehicle and the only room available was standard. Are there any standard rooms near the food court and main pool? DH tends to take DDs to the parks for long days with lots of rides while DS and I hang by the pool. He's still in a stroller, so a longer walk isn't totally unmanageable, but short would be preferable. :) Thanks for any tips/suggestions.

As several other posters have said, in all of our stays at the CBR (the total of which is probably around 100 days) we have never seen rats anywhere. The occasional bug? Yes but that's to be expected because it's the South. Having said that, we haven't had any cockroaches in our room or even seen them on the resort grounds.

As far as that one particular bus review goes, I have to say that I don't believe them. If anybody had a 2 hour wait for a bus, you know good and darn well that they would have raised heck and Disney would have responded. I have never even had a wait, a ride and a drop off take 2 whole hours.

Saw a roach in 2012, and the rooms really needed a refurb. They are a couple years late with that I would say. But that being said, we're going back in Sep, so it couldn't have been that bad. ;) It wasn't our first choice in resort, but I have little/no issue returning.

I'd probably suggest a standard room in Martinique. You'll already be on the Old Port Royale side of the lake and just a short walk to the main pool/food court.

What is the refurb schedule and will rooms have queens instead of doubles? Also, I will be travelling wiht my family as well as my parents who are in their 80's, what should we request to be closest to the food area?
