What is the refurb schedule and will rooms have queens instead of doubles? Also, I will be travelling wiht my family as well as my parents who are in their 80's, what should we request to be closest to the food area?

It was supposed to start in April but it sounds like the construction equipment was brought in a couple of weeks ago. Unless someone who is there now can report different, it hasn't started yet. It was confirmed to me that they would be getting queen beds.

My mother has traveled with us several times and was able to make the walks from Jamaica and Martinique standard rooms easily. If you want to assure that your rooms are near Old Port Royale, you may want to book preferred. You'll have a room in either Martinique 26, 25 or 24 or any building in Trinidad North.

Excellent, thank you, great information. Will the refurb be done by November or is it up in the air?

When POR did their room refurb and switch to queen beds it took 11 months.

The permits that were filed are good until May, 2015. If I am remembering correctly, the refurb over at POR took a year to complete and the two resorts are similar in size. I was told that they would start in one village, complete it and then move on to the next.

OK, then I won't count on Queens, thanks for the info and I am sure I will be asking a million more questions as this will be our first time at CBR (POP, POFQ and POR veterans).

I wouldn't count them out though because you could be in one of the villages that have been refurbed.;)

I just hope they finish Martinique before March - I don't want to have to walk over from the next nearest island!

Hello Ive have just booked CB for Dec and am now feeling very worried I may have made the wrong choice. I have read some very recent reviews of the hotel on another website from people that have visited over the past 4 weeks and all of them have said it was very dirty one even saying there were rats and cockroaches running around. I take all reviews on a case by case review so wanted to know if this was the general feeling from those that have visited recently or have you found the opposite. The other thing they were complaining about was the wait time for the buses one saying it took 2hrs to get a bus and they were packed. We have previously stayed at pop and movies and were happy there but this is the 1st time at christmas and there are 7 of us so I really want it top be the right choice. Should I ring and swap back to POP? thanks for your opinions Casey
Just got back a week ago. Our trip was the same as every other to CBR. Absolutely perfect. NO rats and NO roaches. Geckos, yes, random bug, yes - it's Florida. Our room was clean, and cleaned every day. Staff were always out and about cleaning.
Buses, only once in all our stays have we ever waited more than 15 mins. The one time we waited almost 30 mins, I picked up the house phone at the bus stop, explained the situation, and bus arrived in less ten minutes. Have never encountered a bus that was so full that we couldn't get on - often had to stand but still got on. We stayed in Trinidad North as it is our preferred location and we love it there.
Good luck.

I just wanted to thank Mickeystoontown, Dansdad and all the others that are regulars on this thread for begin so patient with us and answering all our questions. :thumbsup2. Since FD was announced you've been bombarded!
I just hope CBR is ready for us!!! :rotfl:

You're very welcome. Before our first CBR stay it was Mickeystoontown, and others, that calmed my fears about switching from what we knew. If not for them, we would not have found our "home" at WDW. So I like to pay it forward.

Plus this is the first year since 2008 that we don't have a trip planned so I am living vicariously through all of you. I almost enjoy the planning part as much as the actual trip so helping others feeds my addiction for that.:woohoo:

You're are quite welcome! I just hope that you all love the resort as much as the rest of us do. The resort is so beautiful and calm and relaxing which is great when you want some time away from the parks. We will be checking into the CBR on May 24th for two whole weeks and we are more than ready to be back "home".

Hi - any room request suggestions for someone booked in water view room? It's for my sister's family. Neither of us have ever stayed there before so not very familiar with the resort. I think she's just looking for a nice location that's as convenient to pools and food court as possible.

Thanks!

I would just request Martinique village. Who knows? You may even end up in a preferred building to boot! You can only book one "premium" category, water-view or preferred. However, there are obviously water-view rooms in the preferred buildings. So whoever ends up in those rooms are getting some pixie dust pixiedust: .

I know a lot of people think the water-view is not worth the upcharge, however the two times we have had water-view rooms, we ended up with awesome room locations (and corner rooms both times, to boot). The first time we were in Jamaica 45. We exited our room and were already crossing the bridge in about 10 seconds. A few weeks ago, we were in Martinique 22. We actually had the Barbados beach right outside our door (and a hammock only about 50 feet away :thumbsup2 ). Both walks to OPR were 5 minutes or less since with a water view room, you do sort of get a preferred location, so to speak, because you end up with a room on the "interior" of the resort, along the path around the lake - which shortens the walk to OPR.
