Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

Love following this thread! I can't check in online for a while yet but will watch to see where the best 'requests' are. So far Martinque and Jamaica look best - just have to see how refurb goes!

For those of your veteran requesters, so you usually request specific buildings? Like Martinique 22 - and a second choice in another location? Or do you request something like 'Martinique' fairly near the quiet pool?!

We will be visiting in November and were unable to book at Coronado Springs. Ive read a lot of horrible reviews about CBR and the mold issue. The whole family has severe allergy problems and my daughter has asthma and I don't know if i want to take the chance with her. Is there any word on when the updated rooms should be complete or in what buildings have been done. If I could get booked in one of the refurbished rooms I would feel much better booking.

We haven't ever had mold in our room but I do know that you can request a special medical cleaning of the room prior to your arrival. You may want to do that "just in case" you don't get a refurbed room.

We don't make many specific requests. Usually just say Jamaica and upstairs (if my mothers not with us) and downstairs if she is. Other than that, we don't get any more specific.

How are you usually placed? I didn't want to be too demanding, so i was thinking of just requesting the village as well and downstairs because of my MIL.

Someone told me today that it's more "magical" not to check in online. Is there any truth in that?

Thanks all for the information you've provided for us CBR newbies!

Lisa......how will this thread survive while you're away? :rotfl2: You're always so quick to answer peoples' questions. Thanks for all you do! Thankfully we've got Dansdad and some other great folks on this thread to keep things rollin'. Have a great trip!

Don't worry about being too demanding. Just list your requests in order of importance. They will do everything they can to grant your top 1 or 2.

There's no truth to that. Checking in online or not has zero affect on getting your requests or getting some magic. :thumbsup2

I've never heard of it being more "magical" to not check in online.

So far, we have been placed in each of the villages with the exception of Trinidad North and Trinidad South and I can honestly say that we liked each building we were in. Just make sure that you put your requests in the order in which they are important to you. For example, if grand floor is more important and you want a Jamaica building near transportation, call and tell them that you would like a downstairs room, in Jamaica, near transportation. Keep in mind that they are all requests and the less specific you are, the easier it will be for the room assignor to find a good room for you.

I don't think that it matters at all if you do online check in or wait until you are there. If you do online check in and you are assigned a room that you don't think you'ld like, simply ask if there are other rooms available before leaving the check in area. Like I said, though, we've never had a bad room location.

You are so funny! I'm sure that all of the other CBR lovers will keep it going.

I can honestly say when I only put my requests on online check in I get NONE of my requests (this has happen for 3 trips now). Maybe asking for your requests with an agent helps. But online check in requests have been a total bust for us!!! Next time I'm calling.

I always recommend calling and adding room requests to your reservation over adding them during online check in. I was only talking about doing online check-in in general having no affect on getting requests. I got that bit of info from a room assigner, they don't know if someone checked in online or not when assigning rooms. I always skip the room request section because it has always had predetermined options that are very limited. They never seem to match what I'm looking for. We only have 2 requests, Jamaica 45 and upper 2nd floor, and we've gotten them every time by calling and still doing online check in.

Thanks for the tip on calling - I already have in my reservation that our rooms be 'connected' as we're a family of 6 with all young kids. That's top priority request. I'd love a king/two dbl bed connecting but would be fine with two regular rooms (package didn't allow me to do two separate room types though I was willing to pay for king room) - I'd likely rank location over king/double request though. I know I'm probably getting to choosy now....
What time of year did you visit and have your requests met?

Yeah, a friend told me when you online check in they just hand you your keys and send you on your way.

But that if you do the process there they talk to you and interact more. Make more of an effort to start your stay off right!

That's why I ask here!

I think I just care about Jamaica and ground floor. I'll make any building work. Since we're getting their well before check in(10:00, driving overnight) is there something I should note about that.

I've done online check in every trip since it's been implemented. No castmember has simply handed me my package and sent me on my way. They have always been pleasant and chatted with me and were happy to look into the computer system to make sure that reservations were "linked" and marked as "continuing". Yes, my packet was ready for us but they still took the time to talk with us and explain things to us.

Even if you do online check in, when they tell you your room assignment, if you're really unhappy with it, you can still ask for another room. You may not get something else - at least to your liking, as it will be based on availability, of course.

As for geting there early, I believe there is an option in the online check in for you to select what is more important - getting your requests granted, or having a room ready for you earlier.

Jamaica 41 is the building they will offer guests who check in early and want a room right away. Two weeks ago that is the building we were given and we checked in at 10:30 am. Ground floor too! The CM said they almost always have rooms in that building for those that want one early because it isn't close to anything (the bus stop, the pool, the bridge to OPR.....) but we found it very quiet and peaceful. The CM gave us the option to refuse it if we wanted to.

We did online check in but the CM did talk to us and asked us if we had questions about about package and the resort.

We have been disney twice and did the online check in both times. I also had my room requests granted both times.

Good to know! I'm down for quiet and out of the way. Lol!! I could care less about being close to the buses and would rather an early check in! ;) We requested Jamaica 45 2nd floor so we will see :)

Quiet works for us too!

Can someone tell me if you can get a king water view room? I'm thinking of upgrading to water view (I'm against 'views' in moderates but the point of being on the interior of the resort makes sense...
