Ok it has been years since we have dined at. HDDR. The last time we stayed at PoFQ there was a direct bus to Ft. Wilderness before the show. Do they still have this at CBR? If not I think we will do a taxi.

No direct bus there. We took a bus to the MK and then the boat over to FW.

We stayed at CBR and did HDD, there was no bus to Ft Wilderness before the show. We were at MK that day, so took the boat to Ft. Wilderness. We were there for the last performance, so after the show there are several buses that take you back to your resort, don't know if they do the same for earlier shows.

we just booked our trip last night for free dining! dd and her boyfriend picked the resort this time as they are paying their own share of the package. (thank god because i wouldnt be able to swing it otherwise). we are going august 26-september 2nd. i am excited to be going to disney again.:cool1:

MJO99 Thank You!!! The pictures were great! Your kids are adorable love the sleeping pictures so sweet! Oh I liked the ducks in the pool too :rotfl:. I just wanted to get an idea of what the room really looked like and I got that from your pics thanks again!

Congrats!

That's a great week to go. We went that week the last two years (and are doing DCL that week this year). Crowds are very managable. In two years only a couple of waits more than 10-15 minutes - TSMM, BTMR (when Splash went down for the day with technical problems) are the only two that stand out in my memory. With FD though, better get cracking on those ADRs as they were much more of a problem. The lack of ADR availability and the fact that the parks start closing earlier that week (why can't they wait another week until after LAbor Day?) are the only negatives.

Just booked this resort for Oct and already have our countdown going!! This will be our 2nd trip to Disney as a family. We have booked the pirate room is there any special requests I should make? Are the pirate rooms far away from the pool and food? Always second guessing but I have a 7 year old with mild disabilities and a walk is sometimes way longer than it needs to be:eek:

Congrats! CBR is our favorite moderate. We went the last week of October and loved that time of year. All the Pirate rooms are in Trinidad South. The walk to OPR (Food, gift shop and arcade) and the Main Pool from the farthest point of Trinidad South is about 8 minutes at a very leisurely pace. You may want to request building 34, 35 or 36 to shorten that if you feel you need to.

Glad it helped. It was a lot of repetitive pics and obviously more of the kids than anything.

One thing I didn't mention before- The pirate beds are quite high up. We used the chair from the compass table as a bed guard on the side of our 3 year old, which doubled as a great place for DH to put his CPAP. We stuffed a pillow up against our almost 6 year old (a chair wont fit there in that narrow aisle between the bed and the wall, though we could have had the kids int he other bed in hindsight, there is plenty of room there). It turns out, CBR DOES have bed rails if you ask for them. We just didn't know to ask.

With the FD promotion we were able to upgrade from Pop to a moderate and I decided on CBR. We have never been there. I have read thru the majority of the posts here, just wondering which building should I try to request for our visit in September? We would like to be close to the bus stops and food court, but we didn't pay for the preferred rooms, but did for waterview as that was all that was available with the FD. I have twins that will be 8 when we go, do you think they will enjoy the resort? I thought they would like the environment. Your thoughts and experience are appreciated...TIA

Congrats on upgrading to CBR!! Pop is great, but we love CBR so much more! Your kids will love the food court, and they will go nuts over the pool! Since you don't have a Pirate Room, you won't be too far from the food court and main pool at Old Port Royale. Many many many people love the Jamaica and Aruba villages, and they're just a short walk across a bridge from Old Port Royale.

One of the many things we love about CBR is that because there's a bus stop at every village, no room is far from a bus stop! I am sure you will LOVE CBR!! We're returning in just 101 more days, and we can't wait!

Personally, I prefer to bus to MK, and boat to WL. A taxi will leave you at the front of Ft Wilderness, and you'll need to take a bus back to the Pioneer Hall area.

Hello CBR fanatics!

I will be joining the craze with my first CBR stay 8/30-9/4! With that lovely FD.

We booked standard, and I heard Jamaica and Aruba are my best choices.

I don't mind a walk, just want to get in the best atmosphere.

Only a short 174 days away :woohoo:

Hello all, I just got back from a 5 day CBR trip and wanted to share a couple of thoughts.

This resort ranks well ahead of POR, and equal to POFQ in my book. We stayed in Aruba and thought it was a perfect location. From our room to the food court was a 7 minute walk (slightly over .30 miles). The pool area was great, poolside movies nightly, the counter service food was about as good as we have ever had.

What we liked best about staying in Aruba was no matter where the bus enetred the resort, we didn't have to ride it around. Getting off at Old Port was always an option with a very short walk.

Should I request Jamaica or Aruba before I get there? Or wait till on-line check-in?

I usually give the CMs my request when I book the vacation. I also call about two weeks before our arrival date to make sure the requests are still noted on our reservation.

This is what I did and we got both of our requests. Did online check-in at the 10-day mark and specified we'd be arriving around 11:00AM. Around the 4-5 day mark called the general reservations line and added my requests, Jamaica 45 and 2nd floor. The day before we left I called the general reservation line and asked that the CM read me any special requests and they were both listed. We arrived around 11AM, our room was ready and it was on the 2nd floor in Jamaica 45.

Just booked our 2nd time at CBR-1st time was in a preferred room in Trinidad North and we loved it. This time we're not staying preferred so which section should I request? I'm thinking Martinique 22, Jamaica 45, Aruba 51? I'm most concerned about buses-I'd rather not stop at 5 or 6 stops before we leave the resort every time!! TIA:thumbsup2

Whew! I just read through almost all of this thread! So much good info! One thing I did not see mentioned was price difference for the pirate rooms. Does anyone know? We are talking about trying CBR for our trip Feb. 2013 trip and probably wouldn't bother with a preferred room, but we did think the pirate rooms might be cool for our two boys. We will be driving, so distance to the food court or bus won't be a factor. TIA!

Heading to Disney at the end of may for our 5th trip but first time to stay in a moderate. Very excited to try something new. Although I love all the values we've stayed at I am looking forward to a little more of a laid back atmosphere this time around!

Thanks for all the good info in this thread!!
