Caribbean Beach FAQ part V

Whew! I just read through almost all of this thread! So much good info! One thing I did not see mentioned was price difference for the pirate rooms. Does anyone know? We are talking about trying CBR for our trip Feb. 2013 trip and probably wouldn't bother with a preferred room, but we did think the pirate rooms might be cool for our two boys. We will be driving, so distance to the food court or bus won't be a factor. TIA!

The 2013 prices aren't out yet, but right now the price difference is $30 per night for the Pirate rooms.

We are staying at CB in June. This will be our second visit to this great resort. We have 3 rooms, all booked as preferred. My DH and I's room is a king but the other 2 are the 2 double beds. Does anyone know if they have finally decided to put quessns in. The beds were a little smaller then we were used to and I thought I heard somewhere that queens were coming.
Thanks.

Hello,

We stayed at CBR in 09!!!! We did LOVE it but found it a bit on the big side. Our DD is in a wheelchair so she found the distance to be too spread out. My DH tends to push her but I like her being able to push herself. (thats a whole other debate!) Anyway, getting to my question. I was trying to see if there is a HC room in a close location to the food court. Also, considering a pirate room as it ties in nicely with our cruise! I think we were in Aruba last stay. My DH found the resort quiet! I would love a beach view! My other question is we had a referb. room finding nemo. have the rooms been updated since 09? Thanks!!!!!:wizard:

No new refurbishment since that time.

The Pirate rooms are all in Trinidad South, which is the very furthest village from the food court.

Each village has some accessible rooms. If you want a room relatively near the food court, then you need to book and pay for a "preferred location" room. These are in 6 buildings ... Martinique 24-25-26 and Trinidad North 31-32-33.

Thanks CleveRocks!!!!!!

I will pay for the location. thanks for the info. I will check the map to see the buildings you suggested!!!!!! I will skip the pirate rooms if thats the case. :)

I read in the first post that wifi is available at the main building. What are the internet options in the rooms? Is there wifi or still the cable plug in thing? And what is the current cost for internet access?

Wifi is currently being put in all rooms at all resorts. It's still not 100% available, but it's well on its way. A friend emailed me a couple weeks ago from their room at CBR with free wifi!! :) People have been reporting that value resorts are also getting free wifi. I stayed at Port Orleans last night and had reliable wifi during the whole stay.

We were in building 36 in Trinidad South 2 weeks ago. Yes, there was wifi. Techinically. The signal kept cutting out. It was very frustrating! Our 4G and 3G signal was also bad. Not as bad, but not great. I don't usually have any trouble with my devices, but staying connected was a battle all week with several devices and signal types. It was such a minor point I forgot to even mention it, mostly because we were so busy and I really do need to unplug. It worked, but I often had to try several times and it was frustrating. 4G seemed to do fine elsewhere around the parks.

We stayed in a preferred room..we were able to get a wifi signal the first night...then nothing after that!
Signal was up and down.
The only spot it was constant was inside while we were eating...even by the pool the signal kept coming and going! We just brought the iPads when we went to fill our mugs or waiting for our evening pizza!!

When we return we will pay for a preferred location..its worth the extra money.

Thanks everyone for your info on wifi. Hopfully by the time we are there this fall the signal kinks will b worked out.
However, last fall, in our preferred room location I did have quite a bit of trouble with my cell service, so maybe it is going to continue to be one of those dead spots

Just wondering how the parking is. Anyone have any info. Due to my grandmothers limited mobility we tend to drive our own car to the parks and to dinner Ressies. We have a prefered room in September and I was wondering how far will our car be from our building. Thanks for any info you can help me with!

There are circle drives in the parking lots where you can go to unload and load your vehicle. You can drive your car into the circle drive and pick your grandmother up which will make the walk shorter.

A few questions for the experts:

1. What's your favorite preferred building?

2. Is there free WiFi now in the rooms?

3. Does the pool still close at 10pm?

We've stayed preferred twice in Martinique 25 and 26. Both were very close to OPR.

From the most recent posts that I've read, there is now free WiFi in the rooms. Hopefully, someone will post their most recent experience.

When we were there in May/June, 2011, it seems like the main pool was open later than that but I can't say for sure.

1. I dont have a favorite building, but I preferr Martinique over Trinidad North

2. scroll up about 5 posts and 3 people just commented on this-- with various experiences

3. I think the pool is open 24 hrs, it is just the slide closes and lifeguards go off duty

Thank you both for the awesome, quick replies! :goodvibes

Jamaica 45 is our favorite. It's relativly close to OPR and it's always fun to walk over the bridges and through the island. There is usually some animals running around or in the water, plus they play Island music on the walk.

how far of a walk is it to OPR? from there? I am considering this resort and want to be super close to OPR. I like the looks of where Jamaica 45 (51 looks good too) is with the water and bridge, etc. vs. staying in one of the preferred buildings....... but what are the chances I would get the building I requested?
