Stayed at CBR for first time 2-9 September 09.

Checked in...we had booked a standard room but at check in were told we were in building 32 in Trinidad North (which is the preferred section). When we got to our room, it was overlooking the lake and we just had to open the door to see the Epcot Illuminations at night!!!

Mousekeeping was exceptional (thanks Stiffanie -sp?), we ate at the food courts 3 or 4 times and it was great and we never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus.

The quiet pool was wonderful as well as the main theme pool, all the staff in the gift shop and food courts were helpful and pleasant (especially Milo at Grab'n'go) and we are now already looking ahead to another CBR vacation!!!

Wonderful!!! So glad you had a great trip! Nice upgrade.:thumbsup2

Thanks for posting - any pics??? :goodvibes

Welcome back! :goodvibes So glad you had such a wonderful stay at CBR. Thanks for sharing!

If you son has a modern day laptop chances are he has the ability to surf the internet. It isn't wi fi but wired internet in the room. The cable is on the nightstand between the bed. No card needed for the laptop.

If you are arriving after 10 you will need to gather your own luggage and take it with you on the bus to CBR. DME doesn't collect luggage after ten at the airport.
Thanks safety mom! I knew about the DME part but, what about the CBR side? Will our luggage come to the room with us or, will we have to wait for it, until maybe the next morning? :confused3 Thanks!

If your flight arrives after 10 p.m. and you have to claim your own luggage and then take it to the DME bus with you, the driver will load it under the bus, and when you arrive at CBR you will immediately get your luggage back. Once the driver takes the luggage out of the bus and places it on the ground, it is totally under your control to do with it as you want.

Being that CBR is a large resort, you will want to have Bell Services transport it to your room for you. They have vans. If it's not busy, they'll drive you and your luggage to your room. If it's busy (which it shouldn't be at that time of night), they will tell you they'll get your bags to you soon, and that you can walk or take an internal shuttle bus to your room.

But under no circumstances will you ever have to wait 'til the next morning for your luggage if you brought your luggage to the DME bus with you.

just back also we also got upgraded to Trinidad north what a great view of the fireworks!
Everyone was fantastic there. The kids pool is the most awesome thing ever. The new slide fantastic! We will definetly be going back
The one small complaint we had was the full size beds they are very small for 2 people that are use to a king bed at home, but we knew what we were getting into.
a 2nd note our door did not lock a few times. we had to call maintence 2 times to fix it and they never fixed it but they did teach us how to make sure it locked. Be sure to check that before you leave your room

I posted last week asking about firework views from the resort. You were in Trinidad North? Do you think there were any views from Trinidad South? We are thinking of going for the pirate rooms. Which direction were you facing?

Also, can someone tell me, when you are looking at a map of CBR...which direction is EPCOT? I can't figure it out and I can't find a map with it detailed either.

Thanks!

We were in building 31 facing the main pool/ old port royale I dont think you could see them well from trinidad south.
If you are at old port royale you look toward the toward lake that is the way Epcot is.

Just return from CBR today. I know a few weeks ago ppl were asking about fishing. I found out that fishing is permitted from the shoreline before 11:00am and after 5:30pm.

Do you (or anyone else) know if you may have a good view on the outside area of Jamaica or Aruba? That's the right direction isn't it?

Thank you also, Eric! :thumbsup2

2 weeks from now, we should be boarding that DME bus!!! :cool1:

You'd have to be on side of your Jamaica/Aruba building that does NOT face the lake. But then you'll have a good chance of having trees in the way.

The nest places to see the higher IllumiNations fireworks will be along the beaches on the same side of the lake as Old Port Royale ... so we're talking the beaches at Trinidad South, Trinidad North, OPR itself, an Martinique. When on these beaches and facing the lake, you are not only facing the correct direction (more or less), but you also have no obstructions because there is a flat lake in front of you rather than a building blocking your view.

Leaving for our first stay at CBR in about 22 hours! I've been happy to see quite a few really good reviews lately. Can't wait to get there.

When we stayed in May, we walked to the beach near OPR. My kids played on the beach until IllumiNations started then we all watched from there. Was a great spot.

for the replies about Illuminations. I think I'll book a standard view and walk to the beach. ;)

iT is a question about epcot extra hours...
When epcot has the night extra hours which say 9p-12a, does that mean that Future World is open from 9a-7p and is closed from 7p-9p and then re-opens, or are they basically open until 12a? I'm really looking to try and do Nemo/Crush, Soarin and Fast Track. pirate:pluto:

Hopefully last question - What are the general hours for OPR, food, shopping, arcade?

Many thanks! Can't wait to go again!! :cool1:

I'm not sure of the EXACT hour that it opens in the morning, but when I got there at approximately 7 am each day I grabbed an orange juice and went back outside by the fountain and enjoyed the morning sun. The gift shop was also open. I believe everything closes at 11:00pm but I'm not sure how late you can get an actual meal....

When we were there in August the food court opened up at 6:30am. It wasn't crowded at all around the 7am hour but try to avoid the 9am hour! Crazy!
