Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Just a suggestion... but after reading over a few pages of this thread, I've noticed many FAQ's about the Nemo themed rooms and the Pirate themed rooms and where they are located. No information about these rooms is on the OP. Perhaps some pictures of the new Nemo rooms should be included on the OP as well? Another FAQ is about the buses. Perhaps a link to the thread about the CBR buses should be included in the OP too? I mentioned the link in my last post. You don't have to listen to me but I think it would be easier for all us avid CBR fans and potential fans alike to get the information we're looking for without asking the same question over and over again. Or having to read page after page of old posts. Again... it's only a suggestion..... :rolleyes1

We have one week and 6 days until we leave! How long is it from once you land at the airport until you are at the hotel? Also I read most people's rooms were ready when they did the online check in. Did anyone not have their room ready? Our flight lands around 11:45a and I was hoping to get to Hollywood Studios to see the parade that day. I wasn't sure if we should go to the room first if it is ready. Also I was planning on bring some food for lunch our first day there. Can we sit at a table at OPR without purchasing food?
The average time from airplane exit to resort drop-off is 70 minutes. The Disney's Magical Express bus will drop you off at the Custom House, the location of the front desk. If you so desire, you can leave your carry-ons with Bell Services and then go straight to Disney's Hollywood Studios rather than going to your room. You can walk across the "street" from the Custom House to the Barbados bus stop, where you can catch a bus to DHS.

I don't think anyone would stop you from bringing lunch into the food court. Just keep in mind that it's a few minute walk from the Custom House to Old Port Royale ... you could also take an internal shuttle bus from the Custom House around to OPR.

I took my own breakfast and either sat outside or inside. We had the refillable mugs so it was tea and a muffin for breakfast..sometimes I would get one of their cheese danishes. I'd get up really early and the food court was not crowded at all and it was really nice to sit outside and watch the sun come up. The only problem with sitting outside is that the chairs are usually wet because they hose everything down in the am.

I stayed at CBR from 9/19-23rd. I would say it takes about 20 minutes...not long at all.

After several stays at POR, we're thinking of trying CBR next year. My daughter loves having her caricature drawn by the artists who set up in the lobby of POR. Is there anything similar at CBR?

Yes! I believe the artists are available from 6pm-11pm daily. It's located in Old Port Royal right across the the section you can buy snacks. I think it's $15 for black and white 1 person and more for color and each person.

The kiddie pool at CBR is more involved than the one at POFQ and I'm wondering if anyone knows if parts of it are shut down when the lifeguards go off duty for the night (but before the pool officially closes). I'm sure we'll have fun no matter what, but knowing how it works would probably make it easier to make sure we hit it while it's fully operational if we end up with some good weather.

Thanks for your help!

I don't recall if the kiddie pool is open late, but the pool is open 24hrs. We spent late nights at the park or DTD so we didn't use the pool at night this trip. Keep in mind the main pool at CBR now has a zero entry point, so even the littlest ones can enjoy the pool. The slides aren't open. There are also "quiet" pools in each village so you'll also have the option of the pool practically right outside your door step.

We were just at CBR, and the kiddie pool closed every night at 8:00 p.m. The main pool was open 24 hours a day, and the quiet pools were pretty much always open so you have lots of swimming options.

I'm sure this is here somewhere in the 100 pages of this thread... :rotfl:, but could someone tell me where to request a room, if we aren't in the preferred section?

My DM is going with us, and we'd like to cut down on the walking to the main areas for her. I think we asked for Jamaica when we booked it, as someone told me that was just over the bridge, but now I'm worried.

Any help is greatly appreciated, TIA!

When you book your room they have a spot where you can tell them requests that they note on your reservation. Just call them back and ask them to add a request.
Just a note: Some parts of Jamaica are way far to the OPR, most people looking for "just over the bridge" (which is still a little walk) are requesting bldg. 45, or Aruba 51. However, this gets heavily requested, and therefore not also accomodated to everyone. If you look on allears at the map, you can see other places, such as the closest Barbados building, which would actually be a quicker walk for you.

Like the above post mentioned, request either Aruba Building 51 or Jamaica Building 45. If you don't end up getting your requests, you could end up having to trek at least 5-7 minutes to OPR. If the distance is a major factor for you, it might be best to spend the extra money and book preferred. Hope this helps.

The previous posters have already suggested buildings in Aruba and Jamaica. You could also request a non-preferred Martinique building. Many people think that all of Martinique is preferred but that's not correct.

Like the previous poster stated, you may want to pay the extra money for a preferred location if walking is a definite cause of concern.

We just returned from our vacation, and we fell in love with CBR! We were in South Trinidad 34, and the pirate rooms are awesome. Our walk was maybe 5 minutes to Old Port Royale, and that was with a 4 year old and a 21 month old. The bus service was great. We were thrilled with the resort!

That's great to hear! Do you have any pictures to share? :goodvibes
