Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

 Michelle! I just wanted to answer your question about the rollaway as we've had one several times at CBR and other resorts. As soon as you arrive in your room, call housekeeping and request a rollaway. They do not ask questions and sometimes do not charge when it is for a child. (I'm not saying this to try to get away with something as many DISers will perceive, but when the rollaway is for a child, sometimes housekeeping will not add the charge.)

If you add it to your reservation request or ask at check-in you will be charged and may have to put up with a CM who decides to ask a lot of questions. As much as we've enjoyed CBR since it opened in 1988, we have found the least helpful or friendly CM's there, especially at check-in.

Others will offer different advice about this, but we've had the very best experience calling housekeeping directly - also, they bring it up right away, so the request does not get lost. :)

I'll let others reply to the refillable mug question (it's good for the stay when it is purchased) and food court - which we found okay, but not great.

The resort is beautiful!! Truly like a vacation within a vacation!! have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes :flower3:

Thanks for your help! We will try calling housekeeping directly - seems to be the eaisest way to go.

Mugs good to know about them - I wasn't sure about bringing the old ones and now I know not to. I am not sure we will purchase new ones for this trip since there will be 6 of us. Might be cheaper to just buy pop and keep it in our room.

BTW - your grandbaby is adorable!

Thanks again!!;)
Michelle

That's awesome ~ 2 birthdays, WDW and CBR!! :cool1: Surprise trips are so fun! We surprised our kids with our most recent trip!! :yay::yay:

I'm not sure where we are staying next year. Maybe BCV. Always wanted to try a deluxe. We'll see what the future holds for us. Of course we would all be thrilled to go back to CBR too. I want to try a pirate room at least once! pirate:

We want to do a deluxe too but I think the finances are going to be CBR this time! DH refuses to try any of the other mods since he just fell in love with CBR. :lovestruc We do plan on doing a deluxe when we do an adults only vacation in a few years.

I've called Disney three times and have gotten three different answers. Is this information correct:

  • All of Trinadad North is now a "preferred location" - with no water view or standard category rooms.
  • Most all of Martinique is now a "Preferred Location". There are some water view category rooms in Martinique but no standard category room.

Is this accurate? I'm sure there's a CBR expert on this board who could answer this in their sleep and I would sure appreciate the informaiton.

If this is accurate, which buildings are you now requesting when you have a standard or water view reservation?

Thank you.

It can be so confusing when a CM does not know what they're talking about!

Trinidad North bldgs 31,32, 33 are preferred location.

Martinique bldgs 24, 25, 26 are preferred location.

The other Martinique bldgs have std and water view room categories.

The issue of water view within the preferred category can be a bit confusing and we've stayed at CBR many times. When I've asked a front desk CM, guest services CM or a Manager here's what I've been told:

Preferred bldgs include water view rooms, but cannot be booked as both preferred and water view.

Water view category rooms can be located throughout the resort (not including Pirate rooms now), but will not usually be in a preferred location.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Does anyone know where you get a cab at CBR. WOuld I have to go to the custom house? Or could they pick up in front of our section? We stayed here in October but we drove our car there, so I have no lcue about cabs. What I'm thinking of doing is staying here for 1 night before our reservation at SSR begins. But we are flying this time so we would need a Cab to tarnsfer over to SSR in the morning. Not sure how a resort switch would work here since it's such a large resort.

The cab will come to your section parking lot as close to the room as possible.

That information is in the first post of this thread with the building numbers. There is also a Pirate room- water view option also.

:) Since we are here to assist one another, when I can easily answer a question I prefer to do so rather than direct someone to another link or page (unless that would be better info, then I often add a link). I did include bldg numbers and mentioned the Pirate room, but they were not interested in Pirate rooms, therefore did not go into detail. :)

I posted my information so that others looking for information on the resort would know there is lots of information in the first several posts of this FAQ. This threads tend to get long and people complain they can't find the information but it is always there at the beginning of the FAQ.

This will be our fisrt trip to a disney resort. we have always stayed at Shades of Green before but I after looking at all of the pictures are reading posts I decided that CBR would be fun. My 11 year old son loves pirates so we have booked a pirate room for 7 nights. My concern is that there are no balconies or patios. I'm worried that on what for us is a pretty long trip that we will start to feel caged in. Are there any rooms that have patios or are there corner rooms available that are any better? Any other suggestions?

I would like to know if anyone has stayed in the pirate rooms and what you experience was like.

Thanks!

I didn't feel closed in at all. We were in Jamaica 45 and there was a sandy beach with a playground and hammocks. Plus we were really only our room to sleep. In there late and out by 8 am.

None of the Moderate Disney resorts have a private balcony or patio. You would have to go Deluxe to get that. The Moderates have a shared walkway/outside hallway. We have let the kids play right outside our door before.

We don't ever feel caged in. You could request a corner room, it does let more light into the room. But there is no way to guarantee one.

There are also lots of hammocks to relax on the white sand beaches by the lake! :cloud9: CBR is very beautiful and spacious, be sure to take time to enjoy the whole resort.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the info..does anyone have pics of where the pirate rooms are? I'd like to see the outside areas. Is ano one building better than Also how do I request a corner room? Can I do it in advance or do I do it at check in?

I thought I saw a picture one time that showed a courtyard at TS that had patio tables and chairs....??? Was I imagining that?

I have a question about the lake. It's closed off, right? I mean it's not connected to the other lakes like around YC & BC, is it? :confused3

TIA

BTW, there were no coconuts for sale at CBR today. They weren't any in the two gift shop areas.
