Mine is down too! We have a minivan for a week, 5/6 - 5/13, for $175.12! This is using the Amex code and the $40 Insiders coupon.

if you want to give me your dates/times/codes you were using and car class, i could run it to see if i get a different number than you. you can PM it to me if you want.

I have been managing a midsize rental for my parents through Alamo at MCO for May 21-28 (plus an extra 4 hours on the last day). Originally booked for $181, the rate has dropped each week for the last three weeks.

However, in connection with the most recent rate drop on Friday, which was from $153.49 to $130.94, I noted that when I checked the rate through the "modify" existing reservation button, I got the same rate. Only when I tried to book it as a new reservation did I get the new rate and then cancelled the previous reservation.

So when you are looking for rate drops with Alamo for an existing reservation, make sure that you double check to see if it is different trying to book it as a new reservation.

To save a step, another way I've found is just to clear out the "rate/product code" field when you modify your existing reservation. It will then re-check using the corp id and coupon code from before (or you can enter different ones) - you'll also keep the same reservation number (I like to write them down).

I have a couple of quick questions about the Alamo Insiders. Since the rules say you must use the Alamo Insider Contract ID, do they give you a problem at the rental counter when you use the Costco code? My rate came out a few dollars cheaper with the Costco Contract ID. Second, is it a pre-pay once you book it? If the rates go down, I want to be able to change it. Thanks.

:confused3:confused3 Good question. I did the same thing, but now I'm worried they won't let my sister get the car. :scared1:
You can mix ID and coupons. If the quote system takes the combined, it is okay.

My car rental is dropping like dead weight... When I first booked through Alamo a standard for a week rental was $194! Just rebooked for $109!!! Dates - 5/10 - 5/15
What is going on...any chance of it going lower??
Debbie

My full size car through Alamo came down also now to 130 using the $30 off coupon and BJ's contract ID 7014696. We are renting from MCO and returning to Sanford 5/12-5/17:cool1:

Our Alamo rate for a midsize for one week and four extra hours for May 21-28 dropped from $130.94 to $125.12. This rate is using an Alamo Insider's member ID, plus Corp. ID 7015309 and Coupon Code AD4027JDO.

Thanks for the tip! Just checked my ressie and it went down another $15 for 5/29-6/6. $119 total :cool1::thumbsup2

what is corp ID 7015309 for? It brought my rate down a bit but I don't want to use it if I'm not entitled to it. Thanks

Using the above dropped my rate by $20 for a full size car. What is that Corporate ID? I would hate to be asked to show a Costco card or some other ID that I don't have. (I am a registered Insider, though)

Edited to add: I see I'm not the only scrupulous one here....

I think that's the Costco corporate ID. If you have an AMEX card, I've found that the Amex coporate ID seems to produce the same rates as the Costco ID. The AMEX code is 7014291.

I don't have Costco but I have BJ's (same kind of store). I'll try that later.

Yes, that is the costco code. If you are not a costco member and are uncomfortable using the costco code, I think you can get the same rate with the continental one pass Corp. ID 443824. One pass is the continental airlines frequent flier program that you can sign up for online for free.
