Car Rentals in May

This is why I tell people that priceline may work well in other cities but not MCO. 1 week Alamo, mid-sized rental beginning 5/4 is now $95.13. How low can it go? 11 more days to find out.

Wow, is that typical? We are at $135 for a full size for a week in early June but if we could get a bigger car for that price, it would be great. When do you typically see the lowest drops?

OMG....my rate from may2-11 using costco code 7015309 and the $40 off coupon went down to $133....Holy Moly!!!:cool1::thumbsup2

My rate for the last week in May is still at $113.84 for a midsize with Alamo. Actually used my AARP card, with the $40 coupon and my Insiders number.

For the past few days I noticed that my AARP # is no longer accepted, so perhaps they have used that rental allotment up. Patience is a virtue, and mine seems to be tested lately!!;)

WHOO-HOO!! :thumbsup2:cool1::lovestruc:cloud9: :woohoo: Just brought my sister's car rental down by $90! Gotta love the DIS!

I'm dying here with my Weds-Sat dates. Coupons are either for shorter or longer stays. Argh. I'm still over $200 with taxes both National and Alamo

It's tough not having that Sat. night stay. Have you tried adjusting 30 minutes prior and later. It only takes just over 2 hours to count as a whole day. Good luck!

n2mm - Oops. I mistyped.

I'm actually Weds-Sun.

It's not the Saturday night thing.

It's that the week long coupons are for 5+ days (I've got 4 days.)
AND...the weekend coupons are for 3 days.

I'm stuck in that in-between zone with nothin'.

If anyone has any magic to shoot my way...my dates are May 11-15.

This was using a Visa card (info found by going to Mousesavers and then the VISA site) for May 11-15 noon to noon, since you did not mention a time for arrival and departure. Hope it helps you.

Zuylaya,

are you looking to rent and drop off at MCO? if so, do you have your flight times? If you were looking at the car care center, i know those were 3x as high as MCO for me.

If you are looking at MCO, just using random times, by adding 2 hrs onto the rental allowed me to use the $40 coupon, which got me a rate for a midsize car of $89 total including fees. That is using the $40 insiders club code and the 10% walmart discount (both codes are listed on the last couple of pages of this thread). I'm not sure if you will be able to manage the extra 2 hrs on your rental time based on when your flights are (if you want to post your times I'd be happy to check them again for you!) You could save more if you have other memberships...i know my BJs membership gets me 25% off, not sue what the discount for Sams and Costco is.

i just reran it, and only had to add half an hour total to use the coupon and get the better rate. I ran it from May 11 @ 11:30 to May 15 @ noon and got the same rate.

Skaliscik - Nice work - I never thought of adding a few hours on - what a difference!! Hope this helps her a lot!!

Head's up to those using National...My Midsize car just went down even more, from $169 to $142....for 8 days and 4 hrs!! Alamo is even lower, but, we are hoping for an SUV or a Minivan on the Exec Aisle.

Was able to cancel my reservation with Priceline of $160 and got a midsize with Alamo for $114 Total !!! :woohoo:

Dropped 2 more dollars this morning so $112 now !

Using Continental Airlines code, 5007160, and $35 off code, ND8578ADT, gives me a 9 day (same as 8 day, 4 hours), standard size (at MCO, that becomes a full size) for $142. 5/2-10. :drive:

Using American Express code, 5007160, and $35 off code, ND8578ADT, gives me a 9 day (same as 8 day, 4 hours), standard size (at MCO, that becomes a full size) for $142. 5/2-10. :drive:

Question--I have an american express but it is not the card I like to use when I travel. Do you have to be paying with american express to use the code?

Actually, I guess that 5007160 code is a Continental Airlines code, not AMEX. :faint: My error. I need to edit my earlier post. The result is the same, just who owns the code.

With using the continetal Airlines - do I need to be flying continental or just a member of their FF program? Or neither?

Just be a member and when you join you get a card to print. I've never been asked, but I have one in case. I've never flown continental.

Funny I just changed my reservation but it made it a weekly rate rental - discount of the 25$ code on National - but no % discount taken for the Contract ID - National's, Continentals or AMEX.

May 1 - 6, 10:30AM pick up and 2:30PM return.

But still works to $119 all in. So it's better than the $155 I had.

Only concern that I might have is that it accepted a coupon code that may or may not require a Sat night stay. Other codes that require the Sat night stay were just rejected. But this one went through so I am I safe in assuming that the discount will be honoured?

I think you are very safe!! I don't think it would be accepted unless it was correct.

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread. I've never rented a car... well anywhere and you guys helped me get a great rate! Headed to Disney from May 11-17 and just rented a Midsize from Alamo for $96! I used the passholder 20% off ID and the AlamoInside $40 coupon.

Now this Jersey girl has to figure out how to pump her own gas and I'll be set :lmao:.
