Going to Orlando Sept 20th for two weeks and will only be 23. We're thinking of hiring a car for maybe 3 days in the second week so that we can head out a bit.

My question... We know there is a $25/day surcharge for under 25's when booked from the UK, is this the same when over in Orlando? Are we likely to pay the same price over there as we would if we booked from the UK?

We want to leave it until we are over there if possible as we're not sure yet what days we may want the car, or how much cash we might have left to hire one!

Any help would be appreciated,

Sebastian.

I've never hired a car in the US, without pre booking, so can't answer your question.

I can say, however, that you don't need to pay a young drivers surcharge if you rent from Skycars and select the Budget Fully Inclusive option:D

From everything I've read, you have to pay the young driver charge regardless of how/where you book with Dollar and I imagine it would be the same with most of the other big firms.

Just to warn you also, the $25 per day does not include sales tax - you have to pay that ON TOP  - something I didn't really think about before I went last month.

Amf's advice might be most suitable for you.............in fact - I'm glad I know that for next time ;)

You could try e-mailing the car hire companies to see what the rates are.

I've found that for package holidays it often is cheaper to do it all through the company though - the all inclusive car hire packages often include under 25 & additional driver costs.
