Captain EO info

So I just got a notice from disney that a FP+ we booked for Captain EO (I know, silly) during our early Mag trip, has been cancelled because of an "unexpected change in the operating schedule." I've heard rumors that the attraction will close at some point, but is it really going to be that soon? I know EO doesn't get a lot of love round these parts, but it's been on my "to do" list for many trips, and we finally made time for it this trip!

They are using the theater to show a sneak peek of the movie Tomorrowland. Captain EO will probably in a couple of months

They're using the theater for a Tomorrowland (the movie) preview. They've done it for other previews in the past too, I think.

Rumor is that it'll close mid-April until mid-May once the movie comes out. EO is supposed to come back, but no one knows when.

I'll admit that I'm one of the few that loves Captain EO (and maybe can sing all the words to all the songs). It takes me back to my childhood trips to Disney.

If it makes you feel any better about your EO love, we saw it TWICE on our trip earlier this month. My kids are big fans and we arent counting on it continuing to be around, so thought we'd enjoy it while we could. You are not alone!

Hopefully it'll make its way back! Can't really beat 20 or so minutes in an air conditioned theater for a quick break. Plus it's just fantastic in it's 80s style graphics, music, and FX.

Thanks for all the replies, but no thanks for the bad news (just teasing, of course)! We're only at disney until the 9th--sounds like no captain EO this trip either! It's such a silly thing to have missed, but this is my third trip and I wanted to finally see it! Aw shucks.

Just saw in the comments section that it ends May 22nd. bummer.

Captain EO will return at some point after Tomorrowland's opening which I believe is in May. I believe if the movie is a huge hit, the theatre will remain as is through the summer. If the film bombs, Captain EO is back by June. Just my opinion.

boo! I'm really disappointed to miss an attraction I was looking forward to, so disney can promote an upcoming film. I really wish they could find another way to show the Tomorrowland preview--there's soooo much empty space in Epcot and other parks (hello, half of HS!).

Although not MJ fans, we both love Captain EO, I saw it for the first time on my first visit to DL in 1990 & then made a point of seeing it every trip I made there.
We have seen it on both times we were at WDW over the last few years.
Is it dated? Of course it is but it's part of Disney history & it forms part of my Disney memories.
