Can't We Just Travel by Map? Oct 2013 PTR

Okay, thanks everyone for you money saving advice! I will definitely utilize this new found wisdom! ::yes::

So, this past Saturday was our Swiss Family Robinson movie night. This can be chalked up as somewhat of a FAIL. Our library DOES have the movie, I have checked it out there before. I had every intention of calling ahead to have it set aside for us. Work was extremely busy last week, and the phone call was never made. :rolleyes1 So, Saturday morning we stopped at the library hoping against all hope that it was there... popcorn::

It was not. :scared1: How do you have a proper movie night without the movie??? :confused3 Well, we just improvised, that's how. We ended up renting Life of Pi and watching it instead. Not a perfect scenario, but we wanted our movie night, and I had everything else ready to go. So there you have it.

Without further ado, our Swiss Family Robinson themed Life of Pi movie night...

Invitations in disguise:

The invitation:

Decorations:

We started the evening with Coconut Races on the front porch:

Well, Jillian DID do the Coconut Race, but all of the pictures of her are from behind...with no view of the coconut.

After coconut races it was on to dinner...

Swiss Family Casserole (Ham and Swiss Casserole):

Tropical Island Fruit Salad:

Castaway Coconut Pie:

The spread:

And our next movie night will be....

I LOVE IT!!!!
Where can i get all your recipes?
She looks SO happy for the incredibles!!!

Too bad though that the library didn't have the movie but an awesome movie night any way! The food looked yummy except for the dessert but that's just because I really dislike coconut. I'd never make it if I was stranded on a desert island! :rotfl:

Thanks Mo! Do you Pinterest? I have a movie night board on there that I tend to "file" many of my ideas on including recipes. I will be happy to share a link to my profile if you do indeed use pinterest. If not, let me know what recipes you want and I can link them to you on here.

And yes, she was VERY excited to get the Incredibles for next time. She may have jumped up and down and said a few "Wooohoo's" too. LOL

You would not have liked the fruit salad either then, because I threw some coconut in there as well. Want to hear a funny "I don't like coconut" story? My brother's oldest used to sneak pinches of coconut out of the bag from the fridge when he was little. So my brother decided to play a cruel prank on him and put shredded ONION in the bag... :scared1: Soooo, my nephew has never liked coconut since. :sad2:

This is what I just love about you and your family... It seems to me, no matter what life throws at you, you make the best of it, and you do it together.

Even though the movie night wasn't exactly as it was supposed to be, you made it in to something fun for all of you.

Great job!

D~

Love the movie night Connie, especially the decorations! I never get around to doing that but I think it makes the night look way more fun. We are doing Incredibles next week too. Right now I am trying to sew a bib for my jack-jack to get ready! And straps for a red tank top for my girl.

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: That is too funny. Kind of reminds me of the time my Dad accidentally squirted whipped cream up my nose. He was aiming for my mouth but missed. I still can't eat whipped cream to this day and that happened when I was 5.

Can't wait to see what you do for Incredibles! Your arts and crafts projects put me to shame! :rotfl: So, we each have our strong suits...no matter, it's all about the kids and having some Disney magic between trips! :thumbsup2

Yay! So glad you stalked, I mean FOUND me on Pinterest! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see what all you end up doing for the communion. WOW, with three doing it at once, it should be quite the shindig you have to throw! :scared1:

Welcome! Glad you came along for the ride. And as you catch up on the report you will find that it has lots of twists and turns and ups and downs! :rotfl2:

Hmmmmmm....could that be because it reminds you of your favorite Disney resort ever??? :rolleyes1 The recipe for the casserole is on my movie nights Pinterest board, feel free to try it. It reallly was delicious, will definitely be a repeat...the whole family loved it. :thumbsup2

Wow, yes...that would be traumatizing! So, do you eat Cool Whip...the stuff that comes in a bowl? :confused3 I cannot imagine missing out of the white fluffy goodness. :guilty:

Haha no worries. I do that too whenever I'm planning a Disney trip. It's bound to happen in the planning process. I was at our co-vacationers house on Sunday all day planning our ADR's. Took us about 4 hours and 3 revisions

Oh, isn't that what we are all addicted to anyhow...the endless planning...and replanning...and reworking the plan? :rotfl2:

Honestly, I don't know a whole lot about communion parties, so not sure how much help I can be. Are you just wanting recipes? Should there be a theme of some sort with decorations? I can TRY to help, but you will have to "help me help you". :rotfl:

Ok I'm almost caught up. Gotta get some real work done now :rolleyes2

Well, don't let that work keep you from your Disboard time for too long! :lmao:

This week Jillian has been in her first school play. She is in Honk, a musical of the Ugly Duckling story. We went to see it last night. I must say, I was SO PROUD of her performance! She didn't have a lead role at all, but she ROCKED the role she did have. She played Grace, the Queen of the Lake. Her character was a very snooty, very pampered duck with a British accent! Such a fun role to play! :cool2:

Here are just a few pictures of Jillian doing her thing:

Why is he so UGLY, dahling?

Oh so disturbing...

Oh no! Her Grace, the queen has FAINTED!

Do take my tissue, dear.

She was SO FUNNY in this role. She got lots of laughs from the audience. Such a proud Mommy!!!

BRAVO BRAVO!!!!!!!!!

Way to go!!!!!! so you have a little actress in the family now!!! Congrats on a knockout performance!

Communion:
I need to cook food lots of food for about 35-40 people...

OMG!!!! Victoria was in this play last fall... I know exactly which part you are talking about - Grace had us in Stitches, especially that part where she portrays the stewardess... Sooo funny!!! I bet Jillian was fabulous as Grace - I can totally picture her doing that part! And even more so with all the pictures. Thanks so much for sharing! And WTG Jillian!

ETA: Oops wrong character... LOL I was referring to the Goose in my above post... Now I realize which character she was, after going back to scrutinize the pictures a second time.

D~

Way to go Jillian! The pictures made me smile just as they were so I can imagine how funny she was.
