Can't We Just Travel by Map? Oct 2013 PTR

I will definately be sending extra prayers and pixie dust your way... I have been for a while now...

I know it's so hard to be here when things aren't going so fantastically - I do understand, and do not take it personally at all... I think everyone is in agreement... We love you and want you around, our friendships here are not dependant on a trip to Disney. We love ya Oopsi - and we are praying that things turn around soon. (((Hugs)))

This week I am busy "making lemonade". I should be able to share with everyone what has been going on in my life sometime this week. Some decisions are being made by others that will have a profound effect on me. If you think about me this week, please say a prayer, make a wish, cross your fingers, whatever. I could use it. Thanks, friends!

Good wishes headed your way! I hope everything works out just the way you want it to and you get lots of lemonade.

Your special birthday party for Charity was wonderful! I would have loved it and its been a VERY long time since I was a young girl.
Your trip will come together somehow and turn in to a great family memory! Have a great day......Ruth

Fingers crossed here! I haven't been commenting much, but I am still here too. Loved Charity's bday party! It just looks like so much fun. It makes me want to do a tea party bday. The little sandwiches are my favorite...well, after the cupcakes :thumbsup2

Good luck in all your tough times. We have certainly had our share of them too lately...must be something in the air???

Thanks again everyone for your wonderful words of encouragement. They mean more than you will ever know. :flower3:

I have an appointment at 2:30 today, and then I will be able to tell you all what has been going on. Don't know if I will make it onto the Dis this afternoon, but I will definitely update tomorrow. Thank you all for your prayers and pixie dust!!!! :grouphug:

Thinking of you lots today (((Hugs)))

Okay, who is interested in my latest life saga? I got tired of posting bad news on here, so I have refrained from posting ANYTHING until this latest mess got figured out.

I work at a small, private university. Our university gets no state funding, it is fully tuition driven. Well, there is a downturn right now at all universities, so changes had to be made. No one really likes or respects our current univeristy president. He is known for his crazy, hair-brained ideas. His latest idea hit close to home for me...

Two weeks ago he took a proposal to the university board of trust that would reduce our university from five schools to just three. I am the administrative assistant for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences...and ours was one of the schools on the chopping block. Basically his proposal would take the degree programs from the two schools being cut and place them under the other existing schools. The board voted in favor of the proposal...

My current boss will no longer be a school dean as of June 1st. She must take a pay cut and return to the classroom. And what do you do when you have five administrative assistants and now only three schools to assist? As it turns out, the dean for the school that our math and science programs would fall under left the country the day the announcement was made. I have had to wait two weeks to find out if I would still have a job or not.

He finally returned yesterday and met with me today. He told me that if my desire was to stay at the university he would do what he could to make that happen. He said his current administrative assistant has voiced the desire to find employment elsewhere, but she has not made a definitive decision yet. He seems to not want to put any undo pressure on her at this point. He told me she could train me in the areas of her job that differ from mine, but not to ask her yet. My boss told me after he left that he actually told her if he had to choose between his current admin assistant and myself, that I would be his choice.

So, long story short...I still have a job. :cool1:

What a relief Oopsi!!! How hard that must have been for you to wait on an answer that could change your and your family's life. I am so happy and rejoicing for you that the news was good. (((Many, many hugs)))

Oh man, that must have been a stressful two weeks. :scared1: I was holding my breath just reading it.

I am so glad you still have a job! Good luck with the training.

I'm here and still reading along. :goodvibes Unfortunately, I don't get on the DIS nearly as much as I'd like.

Your daughter's AG party was awesome! What girl wouldn't like a party like that??? Your creativity is pretty awesome too. I wish I was half as creative as you.

I am sooooo happy you still have a job. These are some difficult and scary times for many people. Two years ago I was bumped from my teaching job by another teacher with more seniority than me. Thankfully DH and I had a good emergency fund and I subbed almost everyday of the school year so we were okay, but it was still scary. This year I was hired back full-time as the middle school librarian and I couldn't be happier. In the end everything worked out for me. One thing is for certain, God will get your through these difficult times. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the update. I love reading about all the fun things you do for your family.

I'm not going to lie, I made myself physically sick from the stress and worry of it. Then poor Brian was scheduled to fly out to Montana two days after the news came. He felt so bad for leaving me, but the plane tickets were bought and people were counting on him. He was on a mission team sent from our church to finish up an orphanage they had been building for two years. This was his fourth and final trip to do that. It was a huge load to carry, so to get the good news was FANTASTIC!

Oh man, that must have been a stressful two weeks. :scared1: I was holding my breath just reading it.

It was a tough two weeks for sure. My "new boss" made the formal announcement in a meeting this past Friday...so now I am official!!! :dance3: I start with him in June.

I feel exactly the same way lately!

"Everything is going to be alright" (I say this all the time at home in my best Snow White voice).

Is is odd that when I read "Everything is going to be alright" that instead of a Snow White voice I heard the Bob Marley song in my head??? :rotfl2: Yes, good news is...well, it's GOOD! And it was much needed! ::yes::

Oh thank goodness! So happy for you.

Thanks Suzi! :goodvibes I know you went through your own little job crisis recently. It seems things have turned out great for both of us! :goodvibes

I am so thankful I "can't escape" my favorite Dis crazies! We have all just gone through such crud lately...we need to get our crazy groove back on! Let the insults...I mean teasing...begin! :lmao:

Happy to hear that you still have a job and you can relax a little.

Yes, it felt like I was holding my breath for two weeks. When the good news came I was able to take a deep cleansing breath. For real, I did that! :rotfl:

Thank you! I definitely COULD NOT have gotten through the last few weeks without God's grace and faithfulness. I just had to rely on HIM for contentment and peace, no matter WHAT the outcome. ::yes::

That's wonderful news. Congratulations.
And I love your daughter's tea party.

Thank you! I am so blessed to have great friends IRL and my wonderful Disfriends! :goodvibes

Just wanted to stop by and say hi... I just popped on to the Dis after a crazy Target day - and it was so nice to see your thread right at the top with a response from you.

I am so happy to hear that things are settling down for you, and I pray the job shift goes smoothly for you and the family. Will there be other changes with it? Do you hours stay the same?

Know that you are never far from my thoughts and I know that good things are bound to come your way now. :)
