Can someone tell me about SSR?

If they have a basketball court, I have never seen it.

Just ask at the check in desk and they can let you know where it is.

Studios have a regular tub and regular size bathroom. SSR used to be the Disney Institute.

SSR is the only DVC with a full service Spa, other locations offer spa services.

If if it is the old Disney Institute, Are all the buildings just redone or are they newly built?

Yes! that's it! Man, I wanted to go to the Disney Institute sooooooo bad but just never got around to it. I thought it was a great idea but apparently it wasn't.

The buildings that house the rooms are newly built, everything else was redone.

Yes they rent the bikes, not sure about cost.

Pools are open until 10pm, the slide closes then. The quiet pools are open later if everyone remains quiet. If not security will ask everyone to leave.

As to the towels all DVC and deluxe resorts offer towels at the pool. Just make sure you leave them at the pool, in the towel bins.

I am sure the values do not do this, due to cost.

They don't - you have to bring towels from your room. Towels at the pool is great news!

I think that is it, a half court. I have been past that area many times and never realized it was basketball and not tennis. But then I was not playing tennis just passing by and did not take a good look.

I was wondering about laundry detergent in the studios. I have read the you need to bring your own. Yesterday I read a post and the person said it was in the room. Maybe the previous person left it??? Anyone know for sure...should I bring my own??? Thanks

You were asked to move to SSR from AKL? Sounds like a good deal to me, depending on how much your package and room size at AKL was to begin with. It might be hard to give up the experience you'd have at AKL, but for the savings, maybe you can plan to stay there next year.

Starting to pack and I can't remember some things I might need to bring. I think I read that dishsoap will be included in the room at the SSR Studio. Also, there will be plates, bowls and utensils in the room right? I think I have to bring my own laundry detergent correct?? Any SSR experts know for sure???

There is a small travel sized dish soap bottle in the studio along with 4 paper plates, 4 paper bowls, plastic eating utensils, a scrubby sponge, and glasses. There is no laundry detergent because in the studio you do not have a clothes washer or dryer (those are in the one bedrooms and up).

I really wish I were packing for WDW right now!!!
