Okay, I've done this at least a dozen times and I just can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. If I go on Disney's site and price out a 10 night package at CBR (preferred location) with 10 day base tickets and the DDP for 1 adult & 2 Juniors (both 17) I come up with a total package price of $3663.27 (check in 8/23 - check out 9/2). If I try to break the package up into 2 reservations I come up with a totally different figure?!?!?! check in on 8/23 check out on 8/26 4 day base tickets & DDP $1539.75....then check back in 8/26 check out on 9/2 6 day base tickets & DDP $2746.80...this totals $4286.55....which is a difference of $623.28:scared1: Shouldn't it price out the same since it's the same amount of nights and tickets? :confused3 I admit, math was never my strong point, I have plenty of teachers who will attest to that fact LOL HELP! What am I doing wrong? Right now I have a 10 night package booked 8/13 - 8/23 with the DDP and 10 day base tickets and the AAA discount. If the free dining comes out for 8/26, I was considering checking in on the 23rd and paying for the dining plan for the first 3 nights and then getting the last 7 for free. We can't check in on the 26th because my kids need to be back to school by the 3rd of September. It should still be a savings over the AAA discount, but the math just wont work for me!

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!!!

it will come out different cuz you are starting at base tickets prices each time. So, instead of adding ona few dollars for mroe days, you're starting back at big dollars again. I know you want the free dining but it will cost you more to split up your tickets.

The difference is the tickets. The 10 day base ticket is $230.04. The 4 day is $215.13 and the 6 day is $221.52 (adult price). So you are paying nearly double for the tickets.

Oh - and after a 4 day park hopper ticket, it's only about $1.00 more per day to add PH days. Disney has made it MUCH cheaper to add days, but buying a second ticket is going to cost you a lot of money (more than that free dining, IF it comes out, would be worth).

UNLESS...

You bought 9 day tickets with the first package.. and 1 day tickets with the second package..

It'd still be pricer.. but not as bad as you have it now I don't think.

Just a thought.

Hi,
I will have the same problem so here is what I found out. I confirmed with guest relations that if you have two continuing reservations (same hotel) one room only followed by a package you can get your tickets up to three days prior to the start of the package. So book the package with the days you need for the whole stay and picked them up when you get there. You will still need to pay for the rooms but not for the tickets. I hope this helps.

Hi! Lunenburg isn't too far from our neck of the woods! I am envious that you are able to go during the *hopeful* free dining time!

I went on disney.com to price some things out for you:

2A 2A children (17)- 10 day base tix, 3 nights at CBR preferred w/dining is 1932 through WDTC. I did an estimate for the AAA discount, and came up with 153, for a total for the first 3 nights of 1779 for 8/23-8/26.

2A 2A children (17)- 1 day tix (save and use for another trip), 7 nights at CBR preferred w/ *hopefully* free dining is 1550.

Trip estimate: $3322, with (4) 1 day base tix to use next time.

Good luck!

Yes, that is better. :)

I had heard also that maybe you could pick up tickets earlier, but I've not known anyone yet who's doneit.

I would do what Canadian guy said. If free dining comes out, tie your long ticket to your your first package. Then you will have to purchase a one day ticket with the package starting 8/26 in order to qualify for the free dining. Remember - you don't have to activate this ticket. You can save it for future use.

Are you sure you want to go to Disney during your entire trip? Is there something else you have always wanted to do during those first 3 days/nights. Let's say you always wanted to go to seaworld or Universal studios. Get a room only rate for the first three nights - do something else and then have your park ticket start 8/26.

I am arriving late on 8/24. If free dining does start on 8/26 (and I hope it does), I will do room only for 2 nights. Lucky for me, I have some unused WP tickets I can use on 8/25.

Thanks!!!

I think your mean your kids go back 9/4. You could always stay until 9/3. I did this one year. We returned on at 7pm flight. I thought my kids were going to KILL me!

I was also thinking of the first few nights as just being room-only and doing other things on property.

Wow...major senior moment there :rotfl: it was making me crazy i just couldn't figure out why it didn't work out LOL.....

CanadianGuy....what a good idea! For some reason i just never thought of doing it that way..another senior moment...wow i'm on a roll:banana:

There will actually be 6 of us total...2 adults, 3 17 years olds and a 12 year old, so the pricing i posted was for one room, it'll be double...so the savings if we could get 7 nights of free dining would be great.

We've considered going over to Universal/IOA but we're taking my daughers BF who has never been before and he's soooo excited to do Disney LOL Mister tough guy can't wait to meet Mickey! We're planning on doing both water parks as well as the 4 major parks, plus he wants to do DTD, DQ, Cirque....ahhhh, such a newbie LOL:laughing:

oops, i did mean the 4th....they actually go back the 28th of august but they're "willing" to miss 3 days of school (they get friday off) anymore than that and they'll miss too much....so we'd like to be back on the 2nd so they've got one day to unwind, they'd probably kill me if we came back the 3rd since i'm looking at late flights...gotta maximize the Disney time!

tiggrsbride...wowwwww someone who's heard of Lunenburg!! we're a "blink & you miss it" town! Where are you located?

Thanks again to helping my brain work properly and for the good ideas! Back to pricing and hoping for free dining!!!!!!

Gottalovedisney, we are from Bellingham, and my DS and DBIL live in Fitchburg, so we are familiar with your neck of the woods! I wish we could do the late Aug week, since the crowds are so low, but kid sports get in the way.

Keep playing with your pricing. We have done room only w/ AAA disc. before starting a free dining package before. You can also put your tix on your initial ressie, since they are good for 14 days from first activation. There are lots of options. Keep your fingers crossed that free dining is offered! It is awesome!!! Good luck!

Those 17 and 12 year olds would love Universal, have you been? It's not Disney, but overall an excellent experience, especially if you stay onsite, for the Front of the Line perk. We've split our Orlando trips into 2 nights at the beginning at Universal, then over to beloved WDW. It does add to the cost though. 10 Nights seems a bit too much time for WDW, but we're not big on DTD, DQ, Waterparks etc. We just love the theme parks. You'll love CSR. It is the nicest moderate! Great pool.
