I'm traveling to WDW in March with my extended family. In our room is myself, DH, DD3 and SIL. We all have 5 day park tickets with dining and room pkg.

On one of our rest days, DH is going golfing and my parents offered to keep DD3 at the pool, so SIL and I were thinking of going to HS for a few hours.

My SIL actually only needs our original 5 day pass to do this because she is arriving late Day 1 and is missing our first day at EP anyway.

I, however, would need to get a 6 day. When I called to do this the CM told me it wasn't possible and everyone would have to upgrade to 6 days. She said I could try at the gate but she wasn't sure if it would work.

Anyone know if there is a way around this??

Go to a Ticket Window or Guest Relations and add on a day to your ticket only. As soon as package tickets activate on your check-in date, any individual ticket can be upgraded.

Note that you'll not be able to book FPs for that "extra" day in advance.

Oh right. Didn't think of that.

Say I upgraded the tickets on day 1, and we are only planning on going to HS on day 5, would I be able to make FPs on Day 1 once it is upgraded, or just once I get to the park on day 5?

Once you upgrade, you're good to make the FPs for that new day.

As soon as you have added the extra entitlement, you can book FPs for that 6th day.

Can you do this at your hotel?

If it's a package (tickets + room purchased together), yes. If it's standalone tickets purchased separately from the room sometimes depending on resort can help but generally you do it ticket window or guest relations (they are at the parks and disney springs).

I have a package (MYW + Free Dining) for 4 people. What do I need to do to add a day to just my MagicBand? Rest of family is taking a day off and I am taking 4 park challange.

Stop at the resort front desk, ticket window at a park or guest relations (at the parks or disney springs) and buy another day for just the people that need them. If your in a resort like CBR where the front desk is not convenient, the concierge desk in the food court area can also sell it to you.

We booked through a ta and have different ticket amounts....dh and I have 8 day, one child has a 7 day, the second child has a 6 day. We are doing a date night and the a late mk night with just our oldest.

I would not attempt to upgrade the tickets at the resort. The CMs there may not have as much ticketing experience as the CMs at guest relations or the ticket windows at the parks/Disney Springs.

You are able to have the varying ticket amounts because your TA did not book a Disney Vacation Package for you. Your tickets were purchased separately from the room reservation. :)
