Can borrowed points be banked?

Let's say, for example, that for our Summer 2006 Vacation I have to borrow 75 points from 2007. I know that the 2007 points basically become 2006 points, but if I end up cancelling the reservation, can I bank those 2007 points?

I know that there's another thread similar to this, but my brain just didn't understand it.

No, borrowed points can't be banked.

As already mentioned, borrowed points cannot be banked. For my December trip to VWL, I had to "borrow" 7 points. Before confirming the reservation, I was reminded that borrowed points cannot be banked and must be used by the end of the use year. I hope this helps.

Both are true answers, but it should also be noted that, subject to the banking deadlines and limitations, if you cancelled you may still be able to bank your 2006 points into 2007 thereby allowing those points to be used an extra year.

Thanks for the info guys. I decided to just go ahead and do it. I really don't see us cancelling our reservation, but if worse comes to worse and I can't use the 71 borrowed points I can always rent them out.

As an FYI, there is one exception to banking borrowed points. Let's say you borrowed 40 points for a reservation. After you did that you added on of 40 additional points to your resort/use year, in that case you can have MS replace the 40 borrowed points for the newly purchased points and have the borrowed put back in it's original UY. I found that out after basically doing that earlier this year. I e-mailed MS about doing it and was first told no. But after reading through all the legal stuff I found a section in the rules that addressed this which said you could. I contacted MS again, referred them to that section and they put the points back.
