Can a 1 bedrooom sleep more than 5?

The reality is that studios are aimed at 2 plus maybe one child, 1 BR at 2 plus one or 2 children or 3 adults and 2 BR at 5 or 6 even though one can squeeze moe in.

I still have no idea why one would say this? Why is that the reality? As stated above (feel like I'm having to repeat myself often on this specific thread) we are a family of 5 and always fit perfectly fine in a studio. I get that as DVC owners you can have the luxury of bigger space, but it is just that, a luxury. Its very off-putting when so many say it can be done but would be awful. I think that scares people away, but shouldn't imho.

The post you quoted was related to your questioning MG on this very subject. This is the reality of how timeshares are built and looked at by the developers and managers. Personally I think it unreasonable to put multiple people in a pullout or anyone on the floor. I also don't think they should allow 5 in a 1 BR not designed for it and I feel any child under 3 should count for occupancy.

I plan a family trip most years with 30-40 people and I pay for the accommodations. Normally 6-10 two BR villas, had 7 this summer at Marriott's Ocean Pointe. OP is set up like DVC with all lockoff's. The studio side is a King plus pull out. 1998 was our first trip doing so. I get the accommodations and I invite people until we're full. The assumptions I make are no couples sharing a bedroom, no couples or older people on a pullout, no more than one teen/young adult or 2 kids on a pullout and not using the LR for sleeping with very rare exceptions. I can't think of an exception where this hasn't worked as planned other than the rare kids on the LR pullout. The ONE incident that did happen was one of the families (in laws of one of our children) asked if one of their relatives could go this very summer to Ocean Pointe. At the time I did not have a real bed to allocate to them if all went as planned and told them so. So they knew up front they might both have to sleep in a pull out and share the room but it worked out so they had their own studio. Next year I have 7 two BR at Marriott's Grande Ocean on HH, fortunately it has 2 regular beds in the second.

We will have to agree to disagree then. I think it is unreasonable to think everyone could afford that luxury. While my OP was perhaps pushing it (imo it wasn't a crazy question) I do think my party of 5 will fit great in a studio for years to come, as well as a 1 bedroom that sleeps 5. Thinking I shouldn't vacation unless each of my children has an actual bed seems ludicrous to me

I've done it both ways.

We did a big family trip when I first got my DVC where I did a 2 bedroom for 9 of us, so at full capacity. That meant that one mother/daughter combo shared a full bed in the second bedroom, my parents had the other, we got the king (becuase it was our points). Then another sister and my youngest neice on the pull out couch and last niece in the chair. Everyone thought this was fine.

However my family genereally vacationed in campers if we did at all, so much more cramped then Disney hotel rooms.

I have however also when I had extra points booked a one bedroom for my husband and myself... its amazingly awesome if you can do it, espeically since he is more of a night owl and I'm an early bird. So much less having to be super quiet so the other could sleep. Oh and the laundry in room is awesome when you can throw it in before you go to dinner and then move it to teh dryer when you get back from Dinner and wake up and pull it out. No wasted time doing laundry! However definitely agree its a luxury that isn't needed to do it that way, espeically if you mostly use the room to shower and sleep.

This is a completely reasonable response! YES, if we have the points, please believe I will go all out! However, I'm not in a position in my life to splurge on bigger accommodations all the time. We are bringing my mother next year and looking into a 2 bedroom since it will be 6 of us. I know this will probably ruin us for future vacations, but I also know that if its between a studio or don't go, I'm picking the studio! Again, I'm like you though, accustomed to smaller spaces and appreciative to be there at all, let alone in a deluxe resort!
