Can a 1 bedrooom sleep more than 5?

I never slept on the sleeper chair, but my daughter's friend did and found it comfy! It's about the size of a twin/single bed so it depends how big the adult is if they would fit comfortably!
it'll likely be my son, as he think the murphy beds and other odd ball arrangements are "fun" to sleep in, but who knows! Thanks for the info!

As stated above, unfortunately I don't have enough points to do this, but thank you for your suggestion, I appreciate it.

If you don't have extra points, buy the one time use points from dvc and book the studio for your guests. Either you pay for the points, or have your guests pay for the points.

Or have them stay at a non-dvc resort.

There is room for an air mattress.

Before they began adding in the sleeper chairs, we considered bringing in a twin air mattress to the 1br for our party of four. Our two DDs were outgrowing the sleeper sofa. But the sleeper chair has saved us!

Thank you for the suggestion, but the rooms only sleep 4 or 5 max, so bringing in an air mattress would go against those rules. Good to know in case my son or daughter end up uncomfortable on sleeper chair or sofa bed though!

One option if you don't have enough points is to buy OTU points to book a studio for that night and have your other guest cover the cost. They are $15 each through MS and you can get them if you are reserving 7 months or less from the date. Depending on where you are staying, it might be less for them to do this than getting a room direct from Disney.

yes, some hotels allow it but don't advertise it. Figured I would ask here first before getting there and telling them no day of. No big deal, the other person can arrange other accommodations. Thanks for your input all!
This is the perfect solution.

Since you aren't sure they are going to visit, it doesn't make sense to book a studio, just for them. Or buy points for them to use. And I certainly wouldn't book different rooms for a "just in case" visitor.

If the person comes, they can make other arrangements.

We have been in a similar situation - local family who want to stay a night or two with us and we've done it and it's been fine. We put air mattresses for the kids on either side of the king bed in the master (rented a full size crib for the youngest back when she was small enough) and then the guests slept on the sofa bed. Was it snug? Yes, but it was for one night so who cares? I know it is against the rules but it's a line I am personally willing to cross.

I wonder how willing you would be if you had seen someone get kicked out of the hotel/resort because they had more people in the room than was allowed.

We know that it is a risk, albeit a very slight risk. No one is doing bed checks, the resorts are huge and no one is counting who goes into each room and you can have people visit you as much as you want. We are not partying or otherwise drawing attention to ourselves. Nor have I ever heard a first hand account of someone getting kicked out for breaking occupancy.

I will also add I view this as a pretty harmless offense. We aren't moving furniture, causing excess wear and tear, costing Disney any extra money that's passed on in our dues, etc. I buy an extra towel pack or the relatives bring their own towels. If the relatives weren't sleeping on the sofa bed that one night my kids would be. Or some trips we have brought the air mattresses and my kids decided they'd rather sleep the whole trip on the air mattresses in the bedroom. Aside from us perhaps running an extra load of laundry I can't see how this harms anyone. Would I do it for a whole week? No. But one night? Absolutely.

I know this won't work for the OP due to lack of points, but....

When we were DVC Members it was two people = 1 br. 3-4 people = 2 br.
More than 4 = GV.

The whole point of DVC, for us, was not to be cramped in an overstuffed hotel room.

Great example for children, I hope none are with you.

It's more about honesty and integrity than anything else. One can do it and likely not get caught in all likelihood. I have seen it happen at other timeshares a couple of times and know of a couple of other circumstances.

I'm with you on this! We are a family of three and always get 1-bedrooms. The only time we do a studio is if it's just DH and myself or if we are doing one night pre-cruise.

You would suggest a 1 bedroom for just 2 people? We have done Poly studio for 5 and felt it was plenty big. The 5th was an infant/toddler at the times, but still, even as he grows, I would not hesitate to book the poly studio for our family again. Personal preference I suppose.

I would not book a studio or 2 bedroom for a just in case. That is why I was wondering what the rules allowed for a fee if possible. Its not possible, so it is what it is.

OK, what is OTU and MS stand for. My brain isn't here today lol

The reality is that studios are aimed at 2 plus maybe one child, 1 BR at 2 plus one or 2 children or 3 adults and 2 BR at 5 or 6 even though one can squeeze moe in.
