Cam's New Lease on Life Journal (comments welcome!)

Hi Cam
You look stunning! The daring outfits should become everyday outfits.
Dh looks pretty good too ;)

I will be watching with interest how you get on not eating the cals your burning as im doing the same too, i'm hoping you'll motivate me...after my holl ;)
Have a great week :)

Thanks, Tracey! I am having a rough time cutting back on eating. I know it is a mental thing, but I just can't seem to get it all to click. Last night, after I had already eaten all my points for the day as well as some of my weekly flex points, I still had to have a WW 1 point caramel cake. Then, when I was putting away some crockpot chicken I'd made, I ate some of it. I have to get out of the habit of after dinner munching! I am so frustrated with myself for this lack of control.

Today, I am hoping to seize control and hold on for dear life:
B: coffee w/skim milk; apple (1.5)
L: garden salad w/2 hard boiled egg whites & fat free dressing; baby carrots (3)
S (I have to do this late afternoon before going to the gym because I am usually voracious part way through my workout) -- lean cuisine panini (6); apple (1); edamame (1)
D: crockpot chicken (chicken breast cooked w/pineapple & onions, salt & pepper) (6); 4 oz londong broil (4); 2 oz uncooked whole wheat pasta (3)

Total water -- 115 oz

The morning after we returned from the trip, the scale said I was up 10 pounds!!!! from departure morning weight. Fortunately, I knew that wasn't real and reflected too much sodium and too little water. However, it has only dropped 2.6 pounds so far. I am still up 7.4 pounds. That is so outrageously bad and discouraging. Alas, it led to more eating as I beat myself up and tried to console myself with food. I really am back on track now and am hoping to have all those new pounds off in the next week or so. Not thrilled about carrying them 13.1 miles in the summer heat at the half marathon on August 12. UGH!

-------------------------
exercise -- 30 minutes elliptical (2.26 miles)

You CAN do it, Cam!!! :cheer2: I know you can! I know how hard it can be to get back OP after a wonderful vacation.:cloud9: Maybe you can put one of your marathon medals in a place where you can always see them as a reminder to you about the upcoming half marathon and what your goals are.
You CAN do this, Cam!!!!:cheer2:

Have a great Tuesday!

Thank you, Tracy! I have actually thought of hanging my marathon medal from the snack closet handle. LOL! That is definitely my downfall in the evenings. For a while I had a WISH ornament hanging there but everyone got annoyed by it clanking and dropping glitter everywhere. ;)

Last night was a victory of sorts for me. After dinner, I didn't even have a single pretzel or chip. No WW 1 pt snacks. Nothing. That is the first time in a long time that I avoided night-time snacking. And miracle of miracles -- the scale was down significantly this morning. So, now I am only 4 pounds away from pre-cruise weight. Still seems HUGE to me, but just seeing progress really helps.

Today:
B: coffee w/skim milk; apple (1.5)
S: plum (1)
L: whole wheat pasta w/shredded pineapple chicken & tomatoes (6); garden salad w/fat free dressing (1)
S (before gym): 4 chips (1); lean cuisine panini (6)
D: shredded pineapple chicken w/tomatoes (6) over garden salad (0)

Trying to do about 100 oz of water today and tomorrow since I can't count on getting water in over the weekend until Sunday afternoon (mostly port-a-potties at the camp around the performance facilities and NOT thrilled about finding one pretty frequently). :)

---------------------
water -- 120 oz
exercise -- 60 mins treadmill -- intervals w4(4.0)/r1(5.0) -- burned 448 calories

I was very surprised to be able to resist any food after dinner last night, for the second night in a row. Claiming the victory, however small! ;)

Today, my secretary did a whole breakfast spread for my birthday since I wont' be here tomorrow. Bagels, fruit, etc. I compromised good behavior and bad and had 1/2 sesame bagel with no spread and a plate of watermelon, pineapple, grapes, cantaloupe & honeydew. It was delicious and I really dont' feel at all deprived for eating half a bagel with no spread.

Today's plan:
B: 1/2 sesame bagel (dry); 3 cups fruit
L: garden salad w/ff dressing; baby carrots; 1/2 bagel
S: apple; 1 serving pretzel crisps

We are travelling tonight and I always end up eating badly when we travel so I am making a conscientious effort NOT to do that tonight.

The plan is to go running tomorrow since we can't go to the camp until 1:45. On Saturday, we can't be there until 10:30, so I'd like to get in another couple of miles. I have optimistically packed running clothes for 2 days and fully charged my garmin and shuffle. :)

AWESOME job resisting, Cam! Please send some of your willpower my way, OK??

Hope things went well this weekend.

Have a good rest of the week!

Hi Cam,

I'm new here, and I just wanted to tell you what an inspiration you are to me. Thank you.

Thank you so much, Beth! How sweet of you! And I really appreciate that you took the time to post. I haven't been here much lately since I have been so busy with work and getting ready for the half-marathon, plus getting DS14 through percussion camp and read for band camp and now getting DDalmost19 ready to go back to campus. I haven't had a chance to check whether you have a journal. I hope you do! I am looking forward to getting to know you!

Thank you, Tracy! It has been a busy time but it is time for me to really buckle down and get back on the WISH weight-loss band wagon. ;) Now that the 1/2 marathon is behind me and I've eaten all the Chicago specialty food that my tummy would tolerate, I MUST lose some pounds! I am looking forward to that special encouragement and positive spirit that you have always brought to my efforts. Thank you, dear WISH friend!

juust checking in to say hi--i hope you are having a great weekend!

Thanks, Jen! I hope you had fun at the wedding!

Well, we got back from Chicago this morning at 2am and I am exhausted and sore (though not as sore as I'd expect). We had an absolutely awesome time in Chicago (even if I ate wayyyyy too much). My half-marathon time was definitely NOT a PR for me, but we had the "BEST" time, strolling along the course (after the first 3 or 4 really, really fast miles!) and taking so many pictures of the gorgeous landscapes and sky lines, etc.

Back on track today with food and I am re-starting my push-ups and sit ups tonight, no matter what! LOL! :lmao: Okay, now I HAVE to do them because I told you guys I would! :)

Food today has just been coffee so far since my tummy is NOT happy with me for finishing my chicken pot pie at 1am in the airport as we waited for our luggage and in the LONG car ride home on a mostly-closed-for-construction highway.

Lunch will be a garden salad. I may have some canned chicken breast or tuna that I'll have with it, but right now, not much is very appealing.

Thanks for all the support here, guys! I may have lost my weight loss momentum, but I hold you all directly responsible for the fact that I really haven't backslid more than about 3 pounds as of right now. You really help me stay on track and when I don't, you all help me get right back on track. Love you, Mean it!!!!! :grouphug:

Congratulations on the race Cam!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I love Chicago. You are right, it is beautiful. I am glad you had a great time. I hope your stomach is feeling better.

Try to get some rest, you deserve it.
Beth
