I know that undeveloped film can be ruined in the xray machines but does that also apply to a new roll of unshot film?

I dont think it does but I was looking for confirmation. Thanks :)

I know it can cause problems, however I had no problem with any of my film. I think it is better to have it in your luggage then your carry on. Or if you go to a Wal-mart when you get there that could help with cost issues. (But only if you r getting a rental car)

Depends upon what you mean by xray machines. You can send both develeoped and undeveloped film through security in your carry on unless it is higher than 800 speed. I have done this many times and have had no problems. I have even sent the same film through multiples times (went to NYC and your bags are xrayed at the statue of liberty and the empire state building - so, in addition to being xrayed twice at the airport, they were also xrayed twice in NYC - a total of 4 times - NO problem - the pics were excellent quality.

Now, if you're talking about the xrays they use on checked luggage - they will ruin your film whether it is exposed or not.

Actually it's always better to keep film on your carry-on. The xrays they use there are not as strong as those they use on the checked luggage.

I'd never trust any film speed on checked luggage, but speeds up to around 400 or 800 are usually fine going through the carry-on x ray machines.
