Calling all Princesses! (2014 Princess half marathon board)

When do the Christmas decorations come down? Not more than a week before, right?
I'm pretty sure some decorations were still up during Marathon weekend 2012, but I can't seem to get a visual on that...

My injury (peroneal tendonitis) made it pretty easy stability was not right for me...since that kind of injury is caused by supinating... NOT overpronating.
Check this out - I'd been swapping out my PureFlow insoles for some RRS ones that have extra arch support; not a true stability wedge, but a little extra right under my arch that I thought I needed... nope. Peroneal tendonitis. Caught early and quickly reversed, but lesson learned - let my arches flex all they want!

Oh no! I think it might have been you that encouraged me to go to the pureflow in the first place. Maybe the 2 won't work so well for me? Well... I should look at the sales on the old ones... Not the end of the world... I love to shoe shop. :goodvibes
You might really like them, actually - most reviews feel they're an improvement. The only change is in the upper, which now has off-set laces in a "burrito" design with the tongue. My problem is that the diagonal of the laces hits my instep in a really uncomfortable way and there's really no way of changing the laces because of the shape; skipping holes doesn't work well. The PureConenct2 is the same design, but somehow hits in a slightly different spot, so I'm okay with those.

Okay, help me think this through, k? What's really calling me is the 10K, not so much the half; I'm really looking forward to the WDW Half. Sooo... why not do the WDW Half and Princess 10K? Lower cost than doing a challenge, decreased stress on my body than doing two halfs so close to each other, decreased hotel/food costs, but I'd still get in on an inaugural event.

That makes some Fuzzy sense, right? :upsidedow

Kind of. If you don't mind having double the travel expenses and miss out on the Glass Slipper Medal. There's nothing keeping me from the GS medal in 2014.

This is totally a "me issue" but the years I ran the WDW 1/2 in January, I felt like I "only" ran the half. There's some pretty heavy medal that weekend especially with the addition of the Dopey.

No travel expenses - I live a 2-hour car ride away :) Yeah, I'd love to do the GSC, but that's off the table entirely; I'm already registered for the WDW Half and neither my wallet nor my body can handle the GSC on top of that.

I hope so. This excites me a tad about being there for the marathon weekend. I would love to see Osborne Lights again (well, the first time doesn't count. dh took one look at the crowd and was done...I had a short glimpse)

I think when you have your body work a certain way all of your life...trying to change that is a potentially dangerous thing. I am glad to hear you caught it early!

:scratchin I am not a big fan of off set laces. I was also thinking of looking into the pureconnects...

Since you are pretty local, if I were you...this is what I would do. My long runs each week make it so that at any time a 10k is possible. What is not possible for me is a half and a half and a 10k. Plus there is the cost of doing the second half. Again... if I were close... I would do this. I wish there was a way for me to fly cheap just for the weekend to do this.... :goodvibes

IT'S WORKING!!! You're finding ways to get Princess weekend back into your schedule!:banana:
I think your idea sounds perfect, and it's especially nice that you won't have big travel expenses to worry about. Plus you'll still get to snag one of the two new Princess medals and you'll get to be at the inaugural 10k which will be awesome! :thumbsup2
How long/where would you stay?

Sound logic! :thumbsup2

Now I'm thinking I'd really, really like to add the 10k and take the GSC too!! :cheer2:

V I'm doing "just" Minnie at wdw for this very reason. I wanted to go to the weekend, want the inaugural medal, but don't really want to do the half!

Solid plan if the gsc doesn't appeal or give you heartburn to skip!

I'm doing the full in January (Mickey I think) but there is no way I'm missing the GSC. I've run 4 1/2 marathons since January so I seem to recover quickly. Airfare- I have lots of time to work that out. Just told DH I would have 2 early wake ups that weekend. We are planning a WDW vacation for the few days after the princess.
I'm already getting excited.

I have not read your whole thread yet,

but my name is Jo, I can't wait for PHM 2014 I will be doing the GSC.
This will be my 4th princess.

I have a question for you experienced runners. Right now I am just running, nothing special about my training. But, I want to be well prepared and hopefully remain uninjured, so I am trying to pick a half marathon training program. Since I am hoping to do the GSC I am thinking of using the Dumbo Double Dare program which is 19 weeks. But I want to start earlier than 19 weeks out, so I can be ready to try some 10k races in the early fall to try to get a decent time. So, if I finish the 19 weeks early do I just keep doing the last week over and over? Or do I back off a week or two with the long runs and go more mid distance, and then back to the long? I'm a planner, and I feel like I need to find a good program I can stick to. Any other suggestions of programs other people are using or have tried are welcome. My other thought was to do a 10k training program and then the 19 week Dumbo program, but I haven't looked into 10k programs at all, so I don't know how they would compare or how it would be to stack them one after the other.

Are you run / walking or just running.

I am so excited for you!!

Just running! I can't believe it, I cried like a baby the first time I ran 5 miles straight...never thought I would be able to! I actually find running without stopping easier, my muscles seem to seize up when I try to walk?
