I switched to New Balance MT 10 trail shoes to help with my PF. They forced me to walk on the balls of my feet. They are a minimus shoe. I love them and have helped so much. Don't count yourself out yet but get thyself to a DR sooner, rather than later. You need to get on top of this asap. Not sure where you are in CT, but I know a good Podiatrist in Plainfield and his father is in Pawcatuck.

Thanks but I have news to report- I was in SO MICH PAIN - TOTALLY DEBILITATING- I figured I've got NOTHING to lose so I took out the heel inserts the running shoe store fitted me for and IMMEDIATELY FELT SOME RELIEF! I was able to walk to the bathroom with out crying! I felt better than I have in WEEKS - I was hopeful it wasn't going to be worse when I got up this morning, and it wasn't !!! In fact although I'm still sore (VERY SORE) I can actually walk. Feels like things are loosening up and I'm filled with hope that somehow I can get back to training soon and just MAYBE fulfill my dream and my promise to my DD16 - wish me LUCK

Ahhhh, great! that's not the first time I've heard a story like this unfortunately. I don't do we'll running with inserts either. I've tried a couple of times and I just don't like it. However, I feel like they do me some good when I wear them in a shoe that ill be walking in a lot, say like for touring WDW. So glad you've found some relief...burn the inserts! :)

Thanks everyone - this is now day three & the second morning I have woken up and gotten out of bed with no pain! My heels get sore now and then, but not the severe pain I have been experiencing! I am sooo happy to think that possibly I can begin training again!

Gotta be careful with inserts. I wear Superfeet inserts, and had trouble with them for the first time when I bought the next Asics in the line I wore. It backfired, and since my inserts are now fitted to my feet, my LRS found shoes that fit the inserts. I never had issues with the inserts and Asics before, so I'm currently blaming Asics.

oooo, which Asics? If it happens to be the Cumulus 14, you're problably right! They made some relatively drastic changes to those that I just hated and I couldn't wear them (after being in that shoe for several models)...I wasn't alone though, I read tons of complaints on them. Happy to say the new 15's are back to normal...and even better! Anyway, long shot that it's the same shoe, but if it happens to be, try on the 15's when you get a chance and you'll feel the difference!

It was the GTs. I loved the 2160s and 2170s, but Asics made drastic changes to many of their shoes this year. When I got my new Brooks, the guy at the LRS said Asics dropped the ball this year and they've had complaints about a lot of Asics models.

Reading this tread and reading trip reports from the last Princess Half marathon just got me so motivated that I have finally started taking my training more seriously. And I'm very happy about that.

I have started a blog to help keep me motivated and you're are welcome to follow me if you want to. I'm writing it in English since I haven't got any Danish Training buddies :goodvibes

You can follow me here:

I've just started the blog so no pictures yet, but there will be.

I just read your blog, and it is very touching! I hope that your training goes well and that we'll see you at the start line!!

Just chiming in to say hello. This will be my second time doing the Princess Half but am running it with two friends who haven't done it before. I'm so excited for them to experience all of it and the fact that this is heir first half marathons ever makes it more exciting! I can't wait to see their face when they cross that finish line!

Have a great weekend and happy Running!

Hi everyone, I have a question. I signed up a team for the race but want to change the name of our team. Do you know if I can and where I can do this? I tried contacting RunDisney but I had to leave a message which I thought was a bit odd...

Subscribing to this thread! I'm signed up for the 10K and started planning. It's my first Disney race. The only other run i've done is the Color Run, so I have no idea what I'm getting myself into! lol

Hi there :wave2: This is my story too. Just started running and am scheduled to do a local 5K next Saturday - my first race! :goodvibes

I'm also signed up for the 10K at the Princess weekend, and so excited to do a Disney race! If this one goes well, maybe I'll shoot for the ToT Ten Miler next fall :rolleyes1

Is it safe to make a reservation for Sunday if I am also flying out that evening? If it is, can someone provide guidance on time, when we should expect to return to the hotel from the race, etc. Thank you!

I have been off on a adventure for over three weeks and trying to to carch up and noticed not answer for you question...

Not sure what time you fly our, but ME buses to airport schedule you to leave about 3 hour before your flight. Often buses stop at more than one resort. Sometimes I have had plenty of time or others not. Not sure how fast you run/walk so take that into account. Say you finish at 9 and then bus back to hotel for shower, it will probably be after 10. They say to allow one hour for busing around from location to location at WDW. Once we were short on time and took a taxi to our reservation. You can leave your luggage at the luggage storage by ME bus until you leave. Also I have eaten at Pas.37 and it was very good. Hope that helps.

Thank you, this helps greatly!! I am going to keep my reservation, but now not too sure if lunch will work out until we get our plane tix. Thanks again!

Raced a 10K yesterday. Did well and PRed by almost 3 minutes (my previous 10K was very soft) with 53 minutes and change. Ran long today, and ouch-ouch-ouch! My legs felt like lead, and I was barely within my McMillan calculator prescribed long run pace. I don't race short distances very often, so whenever I do, it never ceases to amaze me how a short race can fry your legs the same way a long one can!

Today's long run was definitely a wake up call too on how challenging the glass slipper will be! Does anyone have any experience with back-to-back racing? Providing the weather is good and the crowds aren't too bad in the front (both two big "ifs", I know), does anyone have an idea of what's a realistic goal to set for both races? I was thinking of going for half marathon pace for the 10K, and marathon pace for the half - is that reasonable? Would love any insight!

Yes - Asics screwed up royally with the 2000s. Add me (and my dad!) to the list of loyal asics runners who had to switch over to the brooks, because the new 2000s were giving us pain

Hi! I hope I'm posting correctly...not really sure what I'm doing :-)

My husband and I are running the princess half this feb for the very first time. Excited and nervous. Family members will be there to watch us - and our toddler. So....can anyone suggest a Disney resort that is conveniently located (even though there will be transportation to race events) and NICE? I want to be able to rest comfortably and not worry about dirty rooms, etc. !
TIA

Welcome !

If you are military then shades of green is a very nicely priced option. hubby and I stayed at the contemporary for PHM this year and LOVED having the monorail access to the race. No lines...no worrying about buses getting caught in traffic...and great to be located between two of our favorite parks. Contemporary has just basic rooms and really, really nice concierge level rooms with nice amenities. Best of luck !

Personally, I think all Disney resorts are nice--meaning, well-themed, clean.

When you say "convenient", so you mean convenient for you to get to the race? convenient for your family to watch you? convenient to the finish line?

Lots of people like staying at a monorail resort, e.g. Poly, CR, GF. You can take the monorail to the race, your family can see you easily twice on the race course (by TTC and then over by Floridian Way), and possibly make it to the finish line. Of course, price is an issue--they are the most epensive resorts on property. You could possibly rent DVC points, though.

Hello Princesses!! Im new to the thread and I see I have a lot of catching up to do :thumbsup2

One thing I am curious about is corral placement. I did hear a rumour that corrals may be changed up a bit for 2014 but just wondering where I might fit in... typically I run a 10k with an average 13 min/mile pace so looking at corrals from last year that would put me in Corral D?

Has everyone already picked out their costumes? Im so overwhelmed! Its not everyday you get to dress up as your favorite princess and I cant choose lol I just want to be all of them :rotfl:

Oh and the only other things I was wondering was about resorts...does anyone know if the monorail will be running to PHM in the morning? Right not we're booked at WL and might move but cant decide...

Thanks ladies and good luck in your training! :cheer2:
