Yes - Asics screwed up royally with the 2000s. Add me (and my dad!) to the list of loyal asics runners who had to switch over to the brooks, because the new 2000s were giving us pain

I threw in the Asics towel in 2005 when I grew tired of the fall model change overs - right in prime time for marathon training. What I found was that every other year's shoes were good.

I am a Newton runner and possibly a Sauconey at times.

Oh and the only other things I was wondering was about resorts...does anyone know if the monorail will be running to PHM in the morning? Right not we're booked at WL and might move but cant decide...

I would love to know the answer to this as well. When I called runDisney (several weeks ago), they told me that everything was bussing and that the monorails aren't running that early - to get runners to the race at least. But the two posts above yours indicate that you CAN take the monorail to the race. This would definitely sway me to the Contemporary, so I'd love to know the answer :thumbsup2

Oh, and not sure it makes any difference, but I'm running the 10K, so would need the monorail early on Saturday morning. Thanks for any info!

I was told by runners that last year the monorail was running.

In previous years it was not.

But last year everything at PHM was similar to marathon weekend with all resorts being host resorts and the monorail did run

Here's what's in the 2013 final instructions......

Transportation to and from Start Area for Disneys Princess Half
Marathon on Sunday, February 24
Epcot®

Monorail transportation will be provided to the Start Area for those
participants staying at Disneys Contemporary Resort, Disneys
Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Disneys Polynesian Resort
beginning at 3:00 a.m. The Monorail will transport you to the
Transportation and Ticket Center where you will board a second
Monorail that will transport you to Epcot.

So would hope it's going to be the same for 2014. Who knows about the 10k--that's new territory.

Wow that's encouraging! Hopefully they keep it the same for 2014...im sure it eases some stress on their buses and im sure those paying staying to stay at a monorail resort would prefer this over a bus..I know I would LOL

Does anyone have some advice about the corral part of my question above?

Thank you! I was actually just wondering about this.

I just bought a pair of Newtons yesterday since my sports chiro wants me running on my toes and midfoot. I was dealing with ITBS, and now patellar tendinitis, and he said he could work with me to fix these issues, but if I didn't change how my foot strikes (I'm a heel striker), they'll come back constantly. They were recommended by my LRS, and tomorrow will be my first run in the Newtons. I had patellar issues on Saturday, so I'm hoping I can do something in the Newtons after doing yoga yesterday and resting today.

My chiro said it'll take time to work out the tendinitis, but I'm frustrated. This Saturday was supposed to be when I started training for the Donald. I can walk without pain, but it settles in when when I get close to two miles while run/walking. Ugh :confused3

One thing I am curious about is corral placement. I did hear a rumour that corrals may be changed up a bit for 2014 but just wondering where I might fit in... typically I run a 10k with an average 13 min/mile pace so looking at corrals from last year that would put me in Corral D?
I think the Marathon weekend corral data will give us a pretty decent idea of things for PHM/GSC, but count on a whole lot more corrals than last year. TOT last year had 4 corrals; this year it has 10. PHM has about double the number of racers... I wouldn't be surprised to see 20ish corrals.

They were recommended by my LRS, and tomorrow will be my first run in the Newtons.
This will sound odd, but... though I can't wear Newtons (the heel is too roomy for me), I think they're FABULOUS shoes! They really do encourage a mid-foot strike. Are you switching from a shoe with a high heel-to-toe drop? If so, eeeeaaaase into the Newtons. Really - your Achilles will thank you. :thumbsup2

I'm currently wearing Brooks Ghost. My knee is keeping the amount of running I can do to a minimum, but I do intend to go slowly. My plan is to just walk miles for now in my Brooks so I can build for January, and do easy running during the week. My chiro wants me running, but there's only so much I can do right now.

The race that I submitted a time to was chipped... but I can't find anywhere that it was certified. I used this particular race to submit for the ToT (and I know based on my corral it was accepted) and for the Donald. I have not received word that it was not accepted for the Donald, but that submission deadline is Nov. 1 so I emailed trackshack. I am worried about being beyond the deadline and not realizing that my time was never accepted. I will be sure to share what they tell me.

So first the race director from the race I did got back to me to confirm that while it was ustaf sanctioned, it was not certified.

Then I contacted rd. I wrote the following...
"
It just occurred to me that the time I submitted as my proof at the time of my registration, may not be accepted. Can you confirm that it was or was not.

The deadline for submission is quickly approaching and I would hate to miss the opportunity to submit a proof of time.

Thanks so much,"

The message I received back was just a copy of my registration. I already knew what I had sent in as well as know how to look it up online.

I sent the following message

"I appreciate the response. I am aware of what I submitted and that information is correct. Given the new rules regarding proof of time, my concern is that it would be rejected. Can you confirm it was not?
"

Now the response I got makes me wonder if a. I am really not communicating well or b. if I getting automated messages.

"Can you clarify your request? Im not sure I understand your question.
"

I guess I will just do my best at the next 10k I do and submit it to be safe....

Corral info- agree with princes V

Marathon will give us best look- but maybe not since gsc bibs will have different numbers too.

I expect 20+ corrals too- bit people shouldn't freak just yet! It sounds like they will get the front corrals off with 2min between and then middle corrals like 3 min between, then back corrals a little longer. Space out the course better is the hope there

Plus they took 2000 less runners. So even of you go from b corral to D corral, you'll probably still be lining up with same amount of people in front of you... Just spaced differently

I have high hopes! The RnR Dallas race had 20 corrals I think and I was starting in 12. Never felt crowded ever on that race.

Well, that entire exchange really makes me question the supposed crackdown on verifying times that are submitted.

Yep. I'm most worried about the mistakes. If they screw up and a true a runner gets stuck in F corral and they won't make adjustments at expo.... Ugh

Marathon will tell a lot.

So you both think it is not my inability to communicate? I too am worried that since adjustments can not be made after (for the donald) 11/1, I will not find out until it is too late that a mistake was made.

I was a little confused as to what you were asking for and had to read it twice...maybe they are just a little slow on the uptake like me! :lmao:

I thought you were pretty clear...you may be better off trying to get someone on the phone now. It'll be more clear that way if you've got someone that isn't quite understanding what you are asking.

You should get an email back confirming your time has changed,so you will know ahead of time if this tone was accepted or not. I received two emails when I emailed them my time change, one from them, another that showed a change in the computer I guess you'd say it looked like it said data change confirmation.

Just in case anyone wants a PHM 2013 race program, final race instructions brochure and race retreat brochure...send me a PM and I can mail it to you. Wanted to see if anybody on the thread wanted the extra one I have before I throw it out.

The talk of submitting times has reminded me of a question. If I'm going to do two 10k races should I wait to be done both before submitting a time? Can you only submit one time? I'm not expecting stellar times, but I'd hate to do better at the second but not be allowed to submit it. Both races are usatf certified .

I would wait. Nowhere does it say you can't change twice but I do remember someone (here maybe?) getting that response back. Basically rd saying we have already changed your proof once- sorry- have a nice day.
