Hi guys! Sorry i was MIA for a couple days -- we are moving rooms around in my house -- and i am EXHAUSTED.. LOL

Anyway, i will update the list tomorrow! glad to have some new names to add -- and Robyn, i apologize, i don't know how i could have forgot ya!!!!! Sorry about that! :)

For the newbies -- the C25K plan is great! I went from a couch potato to finishing the plan and doing my first 5k (the Minnie WDW weekend) and finished in just over 40min. - i was thrilled! and, i ran just about the whole thing, that was so great! However, i will be doing a walk/run thing for the 1/2. ;) And i still want to lose about 30lbs too!
So, we can do this girls!!!!

And YES CORINNA-- you NEED to sign up -- the animals will wait for you til after!!! LOL

Well, add me to the list (superdebbie, aka Debbie). I signed up for the Princess 1/2 and the 5K. Yay!!!! :cool1:

Awesome Debbie!!! :thumbsup2 I am so glad you are officially in. We CAN do this!

I went ahead and booked the Sun-Fri at SSR this afternoon. It really made it official. I have a long way to go though, I'm only on W3 of the C25K. Just off the TM, and have my knee iced. I've been doing stretching exercises I found on Cool Running before and after, and with Yoga in between, it's been hanging in there. Sore, but no pain.

OT - Rozzie, do you have Greyhounds? One of my closest friends has 3 rescues. She just added the third recently. They are beautiful dogs. It's amazing what they are capable of because they look so frail to me.

We have 2 greyhounds now, we are on our second pair. We got our first pair about 10 years ago. They are wonderful dogs, so trusting, forgiving and loving. We have a saying in the Greyhound world "45 MPH Couch Potato". And that sums them up to a tee, they are sprinters, might dash around for a minute or two, then hog the couch the rest of the day. We also have a Italian Greyhound, he was rescued out of a Puppy Mill that was busted up. He is a hoot, full grown but looks like a baby greyhound. He is going to be my new running partner. Oh, and can't forget my border collie mix, also a rescue. Four is my limit for now. ;)

How is every one doing on their workouts? I'm in W3 of the C25K. I really like the structure of this program, tells me what to do what day. I am going tol do the Marathon for Mortals 1/2 Marathon for Run/Walk program for the Princess. Haven't quite figured out what to do between.

I am in week one of C25K. I also like that it has the plan laid out for me. I will run a 5K on July 4th in my hometown. I run/walk it almost every year. My father was one of the people that built it into the race that it is. Next year, I plan to run the 13K there which I've never done.

I don't really have any plans past the C25K since I only just started that. I am doing research though so I'm ready when the time comes.

Hi everyone! Please check the front page to make sure i have you in the right spot(s) - and resorts.
So glad today is almost friday!! I am planning on a 3mi. run/walk tonight. It's been a week!!! I can't believe it.. where has this week gone!? Well, i did move rooms in my house last weekend, which accounts for a sore back, and i did do 2 hr. yoga class tuesday night, so i guess i haven't totally slacked, but still.... ugh. Gotta get back into the swing of it all!

Haven't been on here much lately, but just took a look and I'm not on your list...I'm registered for the 1/2 (haven't booked a resort yet). Please add me to the list! Now that they have my $$$ I have to get in shape! I'm doing a combination of run/walk, and just started doing Pilates for Dummies a couple of times a week as well.

My real name is Vicki and we hope to stay at AKL. However, we may make cash reservations for Saturday and Sunday night at the value resort that has bus service for the run.

Hi there! Someone referred me to the WISH boards because I am participating in my first ever half-marathon, or marathon in general!

My name is Brittany and I will be running as a team with a friend. We are not sure where we are staying yet, but I will update as soon as we make reservations.

I'm incredibly excited and hope to get lots of training ideas from everyone. I've never done this, so I will be scouring these boards for info!

:welcome: Breezie,

You will find everyone here to be wondefull, and you will get lots of support and ideas.
Just wait until race day, and you will be able to finish the race soley on the support you will get from the WISH team, they kept me going in the Minnie.

Hi Breezie! Welcome!

A lot of us have used John Bingham's Marathoning for Mortals (MfM) for inspiration and guidance! I highly recommend it. It has wonderful words of wisdom as well as training plans for walking, walk/run, run/walk or running a half or full marathon. This is going to a blast!!

:welcome: To all the new Princess 1/2 Marathoners! I'm so happy to see the group growing. :goodvibes This will be my first 1/2 Marathon and after participating in the Minnie 15K, I know that with the wonderful support of the WISHers I will be able to finish.

My 'princess' timing chip arrived in the mail yesterday. What neat motivation to get out there and get to work! I have it sitting on the bookshelf next to my desk so I can see it while I work on my dissertation (my PhD thesis is due the end of June).

In the last week I picked up the Galloway book 'Running for women' (and read it already), got some exercise clothes, got Disney tunes for the ipod (I'll be doing my training at the gym, not on the road) AND now I have to figure out where to stay for the race. I'm even more excited because one of my work friends who has never been to Disney wants to come down with me as part of my support squad...she'll do support duty if I'll give her a Disneyphile tour of the parks the two days after. DONE and DONE!! :thumbsup2

Now I just have to figure out what to do about my hard as rocks calves. I think years of swimming with pointed toes have screwed up my calves, walking two blocks is enough to make them burn and ache...and the running books are overwhelmingly split on the issue of 'to stretch' or 'not to stretch'. Anyone else with that problem? Any advice?

Okay...my week goals...
Tues/Thurs/Saturday 30 minute run/walk (I'm doing the Galloway plan)
off days, raquetball (gentle and giggly is the way I play) with hubby or a leisurely play at the pool.

Whooo! I'm actually EXCITED about this now!

Sorry gang...two more questions....

1. I want to put the Princess marathon logo in my signature, but don't know how. Is the logo up on the Dis photo area already? Or does anyone have a URL for it you can post me?

2. I vaguely remember something about needed to book marathon rooms through WWoS website or something. Is that right? Or do I book through the usual online method or ring?

Thanks everyone!!

soupy

Hey soupy! Can't help you on the rooms, but on the Princess pic, just right click over the top of mine. Save to my pictures. Then upload in Photobucket. I am very anti-tech, so maybe someone else can come along if you have any trouble with it. Can't help you on the calves, but I hear ya' on the pain issues. I am battling a old knee injury from running many years ago, and it's trying to rear it's ugly head in this training program I'm in. Smart conventional wisdom would have me at the Ortho Doc's office, just trying to find now one that won't tell me stop running, how horrible it is for women, yadayadayada. That's neat about your friend coming with you for support. :)

I really think I've been smoking crack in my sleep, as right now I am a few evil thoughts away from signing up for the ToT 13K. I'll already be down there that down on a previously planned trip. Decisions, decisions. ;)

Soupy, I also have very tight calves and when I do take the time to stretch them out it helps a great deal. When I don't stretch, I will wake up throughout the night with really painful calf cramps.
As far as the rooms go, book whichever way gets you the best price. I have DVC, so I'm a little out of the loop about regular resort reservations.

You don't have to book through WWoS, although they are supposed to be offering some sort of discount/package. The info was supposed to be available June 1st. Sometimes a AAA or AP discount is better, I'm not sure about this race though since it is during peak season. Just remember that Disney transportation is only available at the three resorts listed on the website - AllStar Movies, Caribbean Beach, and ???- I've forgotten the deluxe choice since there is no way Jose that I would stay in a deluxe during peak!
