Awesome!!! :goodvibes

I have never met anyone in person I am running this with, so I know how you feel. It's a great way to meet new friends though. I am so looking forward to accomplishing this.

So, I do have to ask, if this is the week you normally vacation, can you give us any hint at crowds, a gillion or just a billion? ;)

We go the first week in March. This will be our 6th year in a row at this time. The week prior to the marathon is usually quiet. Things are just starting to open up later because the spring breaks haven't really started but they are gearing up for them. We used to stay at POR (we bought DVC in December) and at the beginning of the week the boats to DTD don't run as often. They usually change it by the week-end because of increased crowds. The week-end of the marathon is the week-end that it starts to pick up. It still really isn't bad. We love going this week because things are open a little later but we don't have the huge crowds. So I guess I would say just a billion (not a gillion).

I just looked at the 08 Rates on Deb's site and I about choked. ($139 for a weekend night) I had no idea Peak Season was that high! That is even a little more than what we pay for a Mod for the weekends during off season. Maybe I could at least get a AAA rate or something. Did they offer discounted rooms for the other races?

Is that the rate for a value? :faint: Hmm... I think if I do go, it will really only be for the weekend. I don't think I've ever said that before about a Disney trip :goodvibes

Heads up to anybody thinking about booking a value!

The value choice on the official Princess website originally was Pop Century. Wendy noticed that it is now AllStar Movies! If you are going to be depending on Disney transportation for the half and want to stay at a value you need to book at ASMovies.

Wowser, thanks for the heads up, I was just about to book. I wonder how many times it will change? Maybe I should just book the Best Western Hotel Plaza and be done with it and save some mooola. ;)

Hi guys! Sorry, i had a busy week so far, but i promise i will be back to update this tomorrow! :) Glad to have some new faces here!!

I finally got off the fence and I am in for the Princess 1/2. I've booked AKV and will register in a little bit (gotta spread the finances out a little). The only other event I've been in was the Minnie 15K. I plan on doing the Race for the Taste (10K) in October and then, this race.
I'm a walker and my plan at this point is to just finish without being swept. :goodvibes
My biggest worry is that my training will probably have to be mostly on the dreadmill because our weather (kansas) in Jan-Feb, usually means no outside training and I really dislike the dreadmill for anything over 4 miles.

Samsam, you and I will be treadmilling together, not because of the weather in my case, but because my "free time" is restricted to when the kids are asleep -- and I'm not walking alone outside from 3:30-5:30AM here! I have actually come to love my treadmill and the very precise numbers it gives me on my training progress. I hope you discover a good buddy buried in the gears and cogs in yours as well. :)

As we treadmill, we can practice our princess wave. princess:

I trained for my runs almost exclusively on my treadmill for this same reason. I have to run early in the morning before my husband leaves for work because of the kids, and when it came time for long runs, that meant starting at about 3AM. I used to run outside, but that stopped quickly when a car pulled up beside me while I was running one morning, and a man asked me if I needed a ride somewhere. I think he was just concerned because it was around 3:30AM and pitch dark out, but it still scared me to death. Ever since that time, I do the vast majority of my training on my treadmill. I even trained for my last marathon on it!

:goodvibes I hope I get to the point where I don't dislike the dreadmill so much. Picturing the two of you on your treadmills so early in the morning will help. I'll work on getting a more positive attitude towards it, I firmly believe that mindset is most of the battle. :goodvibes

I'm another TM person! I train pretty much exclusively on my TM. It is either too hot, too cold, too buggy, too dark, too something-or-other for me to head out the door. It is much simpler to just hop on the TM and walk while watching TV. I know it's not for everyone, but it works for me.

Hi everyone!! I think i am updated to this point.. if i skipped you... please let me know.
Also, once you book a hotel, let me know, and i can add your hotel

BTW- i train alot on the TM too -- seems like as most of you, i have to do it when dd is asleep, and dh isn't always home.... sooo.. hence the TM. Plus the roads near my house are all so hilly and sidewalks are in bad shape...

And with 4.00 a gallon gas, i am just not driving anywhere to train!!

i am just trying to figure out my strategy for this race --- i can't even grasp the 13 miles yet! I know i will be doing a run/walk combo, but i am trying to figure out how to figure out the timing of run/walk incriments..

Hey Stacy, I didn't see my name on the list. I almost wasn't going to say anything, I was having a "chicken exit" moment. But then remembered WDW already has my money. No turning back now. :rotfl:

For training, this is what I'm thinking I'm going to do. Going to finish the C25K I'm doing, then do some 5K's this summer here and there, and adding 10% mileage on Sundays every 2 weeks until I get in the timeframe of the Penguin's training for a 1/2 module. I am hoping to Run/Walk also. :) Oh, yeah there is a 10K in Jan that I think will be a good experience for me with a longer run here in my hometown.

Caitsmama - Thanks for organizing all the WISHers doing the Princess 1/2, I really appreciate it. :goodvibes

I also will be treadmilling in the winter months. The Upper Peninsula winters are definitely not conducive to outside work. Plus, then I'd be used to training in very cold weather and the heat of Disney would really screw me up. I am starting my plan today. I have been a couch potato for too many years.

My husband has also said that he will do the 5K with me. I'm really excited about that. He may actually start training to do longer races with me.
